Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Priority welcome, good food I have use this hotel a number of times ovr the past few years. In the past I woulsay it was OK but not great. I hv to say on my lst sty it seemed to have undergone a servic makeover. I am Gold priority member. This was acknowledge with a goody bag of Chocolate (always likely to get my vote) and water. The service was much better than on previous stays. However the biggest improvemet was the menu. My colleague and I both had curries which were very tasty. March 14, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tired Room in need of a refurb Room on ground floor was tired, cold and in need of a refurb. Sofa bed was badly stained with food and drink spills? A childs cot had been left in the room from the previous guest taking up much of the floor space. Bathroom not particularly clean with black mould around shower base and shampoo holders...shower waste was blocked so the tray filled with dirty water very quickly and was in danger of overflowing onto the bathroom floor. Mattress was uncomfortable budget type and only two thin pillows were provided. Had I not arrived very late and only required the room for a few hours prior to an early flight I would have requested a different room or moved to another hotel. Proximity to the airport and parking was the only redeeming feature of this stay. March 11, 2013

Very easy transfer from and to airport. Could have free WiFi in a rooms but apart from that Thums Up. Defenetly stay again and recomend to my friends. March 10, 2013

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room was very comfortable and had all we needed and the restaurant was very good too serving a beautiful dinner and a fabulous breakfast. From the outset of online booking, I was dealt with wonderfully and everyone was so helpful. On arrival at the hotel, check-in was clear and concise and all reservations confirmed. Car parking was included in our deal and was smoothly run. The room was clean and comfortable with everything needed for a short stay. Breakfast was fantastic, the choices were many and varied and very welcome prior to a flight. Overall a great stay, value for money and we will definitely stay again. February 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff I stay in Holiday Inns or Express's almost every week and often more than once a week. Stansted has some of the friendliest and most helpful staff. The lady who was serving the meals in the bar and was also still on at breakfast worked at 100 miles and hour with a huge smile on her face and still found enough time to talk to guests and check that they were OK. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Distinctly Average I am a Gold Priority Club member, this was not mentioned at check-in and I received no benefit for being a member (even though my number was on the registration form). My room was very clean, but, had constant traffic noise from the A120, there are vents in the top of the windows that cannot be closed. The TV picture is too wide for the screen so you don't get to see all the picture - great when watching football etc... No WIFI in bedrooms, you have to plug your laptop into a cable at the back of the TV, so you have to sit at the desk and not able to relax on the bed. I went for breakfast at 7am, it was pretty poor and looked like it had been trashed - clearly all the early risers catching flights had been in. I wasn't paying for the room (company did), else I would have complained. February 20, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No allocated reward points at this hotel Careful all you Priority Club customers. Do not expect your points to be allocated at this hotel. The location is excellent for Stansted Airport and the rooms, lounge & breakfast are OK. However I keep staying here and as last week booked & paid up front for 3 rooms but no points allocated AGAIN! 6 times out of 6 visits this has happened, so please look out for this on your account. What makes it even more of a problem this time was that I mentioned it during check in and was assured this would not happen this time. Guess what, it has and after applying for the adjustment only 1 nights points were allocated. Looking for an alternative at Stansted now. February 12, 2013

My greeting at reception was friendly and professional. £8 parking is a bit steep, and was sprung on me. The room was ok, but with grubby paintwork and stained carpet, I left thinking it wasn't really the standard I have become used to fom IHC. I'd can only recommend this hotel if you need somewhere desperately to stay , or you need one night before a flight, and you are really tired. Tired enough to overlook the shortcomings. The smell orginated from the bathoom (most probably from a drainage problem) and was so intense it became difficult to breathe. Luckily we only stayed a few hours as our flight was early the next morning. There was a very basic breakfast with limited options and we were unhappy to have to pay £3 per person for the shuttle service to the airport. February 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 exellent service and friendly staff stayed at the end of a long weekend break to barcelona booked a 4 day park and stay . parked the car on saturday at the hotel everything was ready, voucher to put in the car, shuttle bus arrived within 2 minutes and off to the airport. returned in the early hours of tuesday morning ( 12.30am) shuttle bus was there and back to hotel . picked key up and managed a couple of drinks at the bar before bed. breakfast was a hot buffet which was very good and just the thing we needed before our drive home to durham. overall a very good place to stay if you are flying from stanstead. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy start to the holiday Have stayed here before and think it has been better this time. Room spotlessly clean and comfortable, also not noisy if heating fan left off. Staff were really helpful and efficient. Had evening meal and felt food very good and not madly expensive. Left too early on first shuttlebus at 4am for the breakfast, so might have been nice to have had refreshments ready by then - it was a while before we got through to airside for the first cuppa! The car parking deal is well worth it and we were able to keep car right by hotel this time. February 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good enough Booked here because of its ideal location to the airport. Stayed one night before our 8.15am flight. Staff were all helpful and the place was very clean and presented well. The building is not that old it seems. No issues with the room but I found the bed too uncomfortable and thus got a poor nights sleep....not ideal for a busy following day. But mattresses are down to the individual. Thats my only complaint. They have a nice bar area and serve food very early (4am I think it was) untill very late. This was great to get a proper meal. Entry to the car park is by a barrier/ticket type you get in multi storey car parks. This was fine but I didnt realise it was £8 to park there for the night. (That is not including leaving your car there for the duration of the holiday by the way) I just presumed your room booking would include parking. JUST BE AWARE I had already booked the Mid Stay car park directly on there website which cost me £27 for the hours I required. So in the morning I drove to this car park at around 6am and left it untill 10pm 2 and a half days later. This service has regular shuttles to then take you to and from the terminals. Overall I would recommend Holiday Inn Stanstead to make that holiday more stress free! February 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel but expensive shuttle bus I stayed at this hotel for one night prior to an early flight. I firstly couldn't find the departure bay for the shuttle bus to the hotel, and then I was astonished to find that a one mile trip with the hotel own shuttle bus service costs £3 one way per person. Whilst I understand that the airport operators charge the hotel for the shuttle bus service, it would be better and more customer-friendly to include this charge in the room rate. This would also contribute to increased use of public transport and make the hotel more competitive for longer stays (e.g. for travelling to Cambridge or into Central London). Dinner was quite basic but OK, although the prices on the actual menu were higher than the ones advertised on the homepage. The room was clean and quiet considering the close proximity to the airport and motorway, but I found the mattress too soft and very noisy when turning around. Overall, I can recommend a stay at this hotel, but I wouldn't expect anything great. The rates are very reasonable and you get what you pay for. February 3, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Room, Terrible Overpriced Evening Meal We stayed at Holiday in Stansted like many as we had an early morning flight. It was great value an a perfect location to the mid stay carpark which we had booked (just over a roundabout). We travelled straight from work in the evening and decided to eat in the hotel - what a mistake! Avoid the shared platter for a starter as contains at best some barely edible food, but the chicken wings were the worst, they seem to have been microwaved and then covered with black pepper, not only did they look awaful you couldn't eat them as the smell got there first! £22 for a steak with sauce, you expect it to be half decent, it was tiny, overcooked (asked for medium rare) and again only half edible. My partner had pizza and if you are going to eat I would say go for that or something like jacket potato as surely they can't go wrong with that?! I always expet in these places to pay a bit more for food, but for a bottle of house wine, starter and main each at £70 I think the food shold be edible. Overall I would stay again but just cross over the road to mcdonalds where the food would be 100% better. Disappointing stat to our holiday. February 1, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good staff and a comfortable stay As many if not all guests at this hotel I needed to be close to the airport due to my travel arrangements. The staff were very helpful and polite. The holiday inn express tends to have a bit more of a premier inn feel about it by the cheapness of some of the decor. Bathrooms only have a shower and the rooms are more basic. My room was comfortable though and there were clear instructions regarding the use of any equipment, breakfast times and shuttle bus times. It was a pity that the shuttle bus cost £3 each way when most shuttle services I have used have been free. This could be a problem if you have just arrived in the country at 12 am and have neither euros or sterling. My bathroom needed a little TLC, the grouting and the corking were getting shabby but I expect that its a busy hotel and I didn't sleep in there. I slept in a very comfy double bed and found the noise levels to be generally good. I would stay there again for the convenience, good breakfast and very good staff. January 23, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dreadful...avoid at all costs!!!! It was freezing! I did not sleep at all because of the cold even though I kept all my clothes on plus a scarf. Everything is self-service. Tiring if you arrive late. The wake up call is self service but there is no confirmation that the request has been logged. Not great if you have an early flight and want assurance that it will work. Breakfast...dismal. I will never use any of these hotels again.. The reception staff were the only positive factor. January 22, 2013
