Breakfast had little choice and the food offered was poor quality. Waffle maker did not work. Brought these issues to the attention of the staff at checkout. Was told that the cleaning staff would be informed but no other actions were taken. July 4, 2014

Carpets needed to be cleaned and/or replaced but other than that our stay was fantastic as usual. We have stayed at this hotel each time in June for the last 10 years and have enjoyed it. Our room was ready, and it was clean and the AC was on so the room was cool when we arrived. Check out was fast and friendly. We arrived at breakfast at 7:45 am. There was some food, but we had to wait for plates, forks, and napkins. The breakfast person was very slow moving and not very friendly. When we were finished, we wanted to clear our table, but since all the trash cans were over flowing, we had to leave out plates on the table. Other than breakfast, this was a great hotel. No tissues in room...whole stay. Coffee maker did not work. Left note to no avail. Coffee maker was not replaced, cleaned or coffee packets even replaced. At check out maid at front desk said they were out of tissues. Also towels on floor taken out ibut not replaced. June 22, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Incompetent desk staff While the rooms and hotel itself were ok, the desk staff and management were incompetent and/or just didn't care. Even when trying to correct a mistake, they just compounded mistake after mistake. Attitude was also an issue. I paid for one night for my nephew and used points for two nights for my sons. The hotel didn't check out my nephew so when I called in to ensure he had been checked out, they instead checked out my sons from the other room. When they got back to the room they could not get in and then the hotel charged them for another night. I called the hotel multiple times to get theis corrected and try to get a receipt. After the 5th or 6th call, I finally got it straightened out and received a receipt. I had ask for some kind of compensation (It was not freely offered) and it went through a desk staff even though I asked to speak to a manager (he was on the other line). The manager never called me or showed interest. Avoid this hotel if you can. June 18, 2014

Cons: The air conditioning was cold but the room was always damp. The humidity level was very uncomfortable. My shirts that were hang in the closet always felt like they were wet when I would put them on in the morning. The sheets felt the same way when going to bed. June 15, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is where I'll stay EVERY time I visit West Monroe! If you're coming to see the home of "Duck Dynasty," this is where you want to stay. Less than 2 miles away from Duck Commander Headquarters. Best breakfast (especially the eggs and bacon) I've ever had at a Holiday Inn Express. I felt like I was staying with my family - that's how friendly and helpful this hotel's staff is (especially Daniel). You will love walking through Restoration Park, which is right behind the hotel. The Monroe Visitors' Center is next door. Pick up your Duck Dynasty sightseeing map there. Lots of restaurants nearby (including Willie Robertson's Diner). I promise - you will have a great time if you stay at Holiday Inn Express in West Monroe. June 6, 2014

If you went bare footed in the room the bottoms of your feet would be black from the dirt in the carpet. A chair in the room had a torn and ragged arm. Staff members or their families parked in the area near the front entrance for extended periods of time. I stayed there several times years ago and had a positive experience. However, this stay was not positive. It appears to me there is serious management deficiencies at this property. I will probably not stay there again. May 30, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Graduation Weekend We stayed at this Holiday Inn during my daughter’s graduation. This was the closest Holiday Inn to ULM. I stay at a lot of Holiday Inns when I travel for my job. This was my first time at this particular Holiday Inn. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but the rest of the staff was substandard. My family rented three rooms for two days. Our primary annoyance was breakfast. First day we came down for breakfast they were out of most hot foods and all the tables were dirty. We had to clean our own table before we could eat. The second day was the same, not enough hot food for everyone and dirty tables. Then a few minutes before breakfast was over and as we are leaving the staff brought in full containers of hot food. We also had issues with the cleaning staff. Twice they were blocking the hallway with their cart while they were talking. We couldn’t pass and they would look at us but not move until we asked if we could go by. The two first floor rooms were musty smelling but we see that alot in Louisiana. May 24, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Needs Improvement We arrived at the hotel later in the evening. There was one clerk working. Dallas I believe his name was. I was trying to check in and he was constantly cutting me off and answering the phone. I was in town for a funeral. I really just wanted to get into my room after a very long day of travelling and attending services. I found that to be quite rude. I was not offered any additional 500 points or gift bag, which is a standard for Platinum members. Elise, a lady at the desk is also extremely rude. Has zero phone etiquette. Breakfast the first morning was pretty much devoured by the group staying in house and I was pushed out of the way by one of the "Mothers". My husband, who works for IHG, spoke to the General Manager, and still no gift bag or 500 points added to my account. As a platinum member I expect to receive what I have earned. I will not stay here any more and will actually go completely out of my way to stay at another brand on my return trips to Monroe. May 4, 2014

The last stay was not up to the quality of my previous stays. The breakfast choices were not up to standards, both the refrigerator and pancake machine were broken. The other items present were in limited quantities available. The room sheets were rough and the sun block curtain did not close. It was disappointing. April 29, 2014

But the staff is what makes it special. Being away from home for a week at a time makes you appreciate someone who welcomes you when you walk in the door and remembers you when you come back in the next night. April 22, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, Terrible Sevice! I arrived at the hotel on the afternoon of April 7, 2014. I proceeded to check in and was not recognized as a priority club member nevertheless a Platinum member. I was advised that there was no King rooms available and therefore would be complimentary upgraded to a suite. There was some issue with the hotels computer system and so I was not presented a rate sheet to sign. The room was very nice and clean although there was some cosmetic damage to the closet area. The morning of April 8, 2014, I found my rapid check out receipt under the door as expected but was troubled to see that the name on the receipt was incorrect. I approached the front desk with the issue and after several minutes I was told that the corporate office would have to correct the problem and a receipt would be emailed to me later that day. I spent the rest of the week on the phone with different hotel staff trying to obtain a correct receipt. It was not until April 11, 2014 that I finally received a receipt with the correct name on it and learned that I had been charged for the King suite that was suppose to be complimentary. I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and rented meeting space here many times but as much as I like IHG hotels, I will look for other accommodations when staying in West Monroe, LA. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Huge Disappointment! I have frequently stayed at this property over the last five years and am a Rewards member. I have been pleased with this property until my latest stay on March 29th. I stayed at this property on two occasions last week, Sunday night and the following Saturday night. On the first night, my room was not clean as evidenced in a soiled toilet. The complimentary toiletries were not replaced and the sink was not washed down. I did not mention it at that time and considered it a fluke. Mistakes happen...When I checked into the hotel again on March 29th, my room #320, was noticeably dirty. The door card pocket from the previous person was there on the night stand. I pulled the sheets back and it was very obvious that the sheets had not been changed...stains from previous guest remained. When I went into the bathroom, the soap that the previous guest had used was still on the sink. The used soap and used toiletries from the previous guest was still in the shower. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall in a large piece. Simple fixes, but not done! Basically, the room had not been cleaned...PERIOD. "Charles", the housekeeper, had left me a sweet note to "have a blessed stay", but I would have appreciated "Charles" simply cleaning the room that he was paid to do. I did not leave a tip, for sure! I had my own pillow and blanket and I used that for the night. I reported this finding the next morning to the tall guy at the desk. There was NO apology...nothing. I asked for the manager's name and he pointed me to the business card. I contacted the manager on Monday morning about it, and her response was "What do you want?" #Like do you want the room comped?# She told me that she had only been there a month, but was going to clean it up. She was nice and polite, though. She told me to let her know when I was coming back through and she would take care of me. My response is CLOSE THE HOTEL UNTIL YOU GET IT CLEANED UP. Shut down, and don't take customer's money until you have a respectable property. I did not "get comped" because I did not want to be. I just want a clean safe place to stay in West Monroe. Management needs to go room by room and make note of things that need to be fixed. Cleaning out the cleaning crew would be a good start. Won't stay here again until I see the satisfaction rate go up more. I DO NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Also....There was NO recognition of Rewards Club member. April 6, 2014
