Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pre-CNY stay We looked for somewhere to take a break just before Chinese New Year and HIR Batam fitted nicely. We traveled from Sekupang ferry terminal and getting to the hotel was easy. Be aware though (a) the taxi drivers ask a high rate and (b) the hotel offers a regular shuttle service throughout the day, which is not indicated on the website. On arrival we were warmly greeted, staff friendly and check-in smooth. Having made a Points booking we were offered breakfast at a rate that was favourable. We had a 2-bedroom suite room and while it was clean and tidy some minor maintenance is required for loose fittings etc. Note that while the website indicated that suites have a kitchenette / dining area the refreshment / kitchen items identified (coffee maker, icemaker, plates/glassware, pots/pans/serving dishes, stove, tea maker) did not exist, there was only the normal cups, glasses and kettle along with coffee, tea, sugar, milk sachets. Additionally there were only 2 glasses, 2 cups and limited tea / coffee sachets for a room that can accommodate 4 people. And, while there was a refrigerator there was no mini-bar as per the website. This was not an issue for us but may be for others. The pool is able to accommodate all types of swimmers as it graduates from walk-in at one end to 1.6m deep at the other. There are some water jet features in different locations but these were only switched on at the weekend. There is also a small children's pool and a water slide / "lazy river". Again though, the water slide only had the water switched on at the weekend. Breakfast had a good selection of hot dishes, cereals, salads, fruit, pastries and drinks, with daily variation. Of the 4 restaurants available we ate at just 2, the Thai and the main Terrace. The Thai menu is not extensive but has a range of the more popular dishes, though not all. The main Terrace has a selection of International dishes mixed with some local ones. A disappointment with the dining options was that on the Saturday night we were told that before 9:00pm only the 'surf & turf' buffet was available at the Terrace. If we wanted to order a-la-carte we had to go to the Sports bar, which had no outdoor seating and was not somewhere we really wanted to take the children. Overall we enjoyed our short stay and were certainly able to relax, but the f&b cost a little more than we were expecting for Indonesia. February 11, 2016

To name a few things: - Dirty bed linen (stains - washed but probably the stains didn't fully come out), - Dirty towel (stains - washed but probably the stains didn't fully come out), - Window bathroom left open resulting in a few mosquitoes in the room (with the current dengue spread in Batam not a good idea to leave the window open) - I found the water of the shower getting too hot - Platinum status acknowledged and greeted at arrival but apparently my Dinning Rewards membership didn't show and thus some issues with settling the bill at check-out. - Surprised the staff at check-out wasn't aware how to deal with the credit stored on my card for the Dinning Rewards; so couldn't make use of that credit unfortunately. Luckily the staff is always smiling =) Oh and a special thanks for my appointed taxi driver Mr Heri! February 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short Relaxation Trip My wife and I returned to Batam Holiday Inn after our experience couple of months ago. The second time here was just as relaxing as it was then. The massage/spa experience was good, and the stay was pleasant. Although some parts of the suite were slightly dusty, it was overall clean and spacious. We managed to get a good night's sleep after our spa/massage in the afternoon, and felt thoroughly relaxed during the entire stay. The food is mostly good, though it wouldn't hurt to have slightly more variety every now and then (OK so we didn't manage to enjoy the weekend seafood buffet because we were there on a weekday). Looking forward to the next visit! February 2, 2016
