Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service I would like to congratulate the staff at the Holiday Inn Batam for their excellent service. As a long stay guest it is normally hard to find the comforts of home but the staff here go the extra mile to make all of their guests welcome and comfortable. The facilities at the hotel are all that one could expect with a superb spa, swimming pool area and a great choice of restuarants. From the early morning at breakfast to the late nights coming back from work the staff always have a welcoming smile and are there to cater for our every needs. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Service and staff attitude I was there with my family (2 adult and 2 young children). We booked the hotel shuttle to Nagoya hill shopping Mall when I book the rooms a month ago. The hotel took us to the shopping mall as planned with other guest in a 40 seater bus. However for the return trip at 545pm, they only send 1 small bus. In the end my family could not get up the bus. The driver called back the hotel and informed us that there was no more bus available. He promise to come back for us at 630pm after dropping the busload of guest at the hotel. We waited for him at 630pm. Till 730pm there was still no sign of the driver and we decided to take a cab back on our own. When we arrive at the hotel, there was a long row of holiday inn buses and private cars in the carpark. The concerige who open my cab door was the same driver who promise to come back for us. There was no greeting not to say an apology. We requested to see the manager and he apologise for the lapse. Though he did offer dinner but because we already bought our dinner (before 545pm and it is already cold) we did not want to waste the food we did not answer. His service recovery could have done better. He could have offe reimbursement of the cab fee, in the end we have to ask for it. This is not the end, when we reach the room we requested for extra pillow, shaving kit and a teasppon(which was missing from the room from the start) the operator took down our request but the item never came. We go back to this hotel every 1 year and this year stay was a great disapointment. Not only was the service poor they do not keep to their promise. April 4, 2013

Have stayed at this resort several times now - everytime I need a break from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, I turn to The Holiday Inn Resort Batam. Its a great place for families and even couples. The resort operates a complimentary shuttle service into Nagoya mall which is a real plus for us - great swimming pool and the 2 bedroom suites allows us to be together as a family and yet still enjoy our privacy. Will be visiting the resort shortly again! March 30, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay A warm welcome, free transfer from waterfront to the resort. Free shuttle bus from the resort to the shopping malls in Batam. Well organized and on time. Friendly staff, especially the shuttle bus drivers. Big rooms with flat tv. Safe was not working, but was fixed in a few minutes. Well done! February 8, 2013

I have never seen such a friendly and cheerful staff. The room was always clean, with a comfortable bed and a very nice selection of pillows. Menu selection was also quite diverse and he food itself was delicious, even at the end of a months stay. Please keep up the great work. December 26, 2012

My wife & I decided to bring my Grandmother & Relatives to Holiday Inn Batam for a 3D2N stay because we have really enjoyed the hotel's excellent hospitality during our "first" stay few months ago. I had booked my recent trip immediately after my first trip. However, we were extremely disappointed this time round. Firstly, upon arriving at Sekupang Ferry Terminal at 11.10am. There was no Holiday Inn Staff waiting at the Arrival Terminal despite making prior arrival by email weeks earlier. We waited till 11.40am and was on the verge of catching a cab when we caught a glimpse of a Holiday Inn Staff (Green Uniform) waiting inside a Van (Not a Holiday Inn Van). There were other Families present that experienced the same situation. We arrived at the Hotel at 12pm. We proceeded to Check-in and was shocked when we were told that we have only booked our for our Spa Treatment and Not for a Hotel Stay. I corrected him & after 10mins of checking, was told it was a 1 Night stay instead, I corrected him again, waited another 10 mins & was told it was 2 Nights instead. I was then told my Room was not ready & it will take 10 mins. I was asked to provide Credit Card as a deposit safety procedure, I provided but was told it cannot be used. My wife provided hers and was told the same time. Eventually, he made a photocopy of the card. My family was then told to wait at the Lobby Lounge and he will inform me once the room was ready. I waited for 2 hours, the time was 2.10pm & growing impatient, I approached the counter & I was greeted by the same guy. He told me that room was still not yet ready & asked me to wait for another 10mins. After 10mins, I approached the receptionist. It was another staff (the guy was nowhere to be seen), I had to perform the entire procedure again, provided my booking number, credit card, ferry itinery and Spa vouchers. I was then told that my Room is ready all these while. As a Rewards priority member, I was not issued the card stating my Rewards points nor complimentary drink voucher which I received in my previous points. All the other guests have checked in hours before us and we were the last guests around. So much for being a Rewards priority member. During the 2 hour wait, I have made an overseas call to my Bank and confirmed that both our Credit Cards are working fine. Upon arriving in my room, we were issued only 3 bath towels. I have made a request for it at the receptionist and a towel was delivered promptly to my room. However, in the evening, my grandma wanted a shower cap & I called the operator on the phone to request for one. Was told that it will be delivered to my room. We waited from 10pm till 11pm, no one came to deliver the shower cap. My grandma decided to forgo it and took her bath with it for the next 2 days. We also had the International BBQ buffet at the hotel and there was a BBQ section where we had to select our seafood and the chef would cook it on the spot. We individually selected our items each and passed our plates to the chef but was told that he cannot cook our selection. He can only cook those that is not on his BBQ pit. We had to take those seafood that has already been chewy and charcoal black. We experienced the same thing at the Ice Cream section, we were rejected when we asked the chef to cook a fresh pancake for us as there were only 2 pieces which were very hard. She rejected but soon after she made a fresh plate of pancake followed by ice cream (possibly for her colleague). The time was 9.50pm and they were packing up. Eventually, we paid S$130 and ate mostly the appetizers (there was nothing much to eat). This was the worst buffet experience I have ever experienced. Breakfast for us was not at the Terrace Cafe but was in the makeshift room on the 2nd Floor. Variety was limited there and customers made egg orders at the eggs counter. Everyone was told to return back in 10 minutes. After 10mins, there was a change in Chef and the chef had no knowledge of the "orders", eventually, waited 20 minutes for a plate of scrambled eggs. We took the free shuttle service to Nagoya Shopping Center. However, upon arrival of the bus at the Hotel, all passengers formed a queue to check with the Hotel Staff before boarding the bus. I joined the queue when it came to my turn. I was told because of my arrangement (drop off at Nagoya and pick up at Batam City at 9pm), I had to wait and told to go to the back of the queue. I did what was told. After 15mins, it came to my turn again, was told to wait and asked to stand at the lobby. I did that. Then his colleague approached me & we explained the situation to him & he approached the hotel staff & eventually, he allowed us to board the bus when most of the seats are taken up & everyone had to sit in separate seats. The pick up was also late at Batam City Shopping Center. It was the last shuttle at 9pm and we waited from 8.45pm to 9.20pm and there was no bus in sight. I checked with the Security Guard, Information Counter & Taxi drivers that it was the correct pickup point & it was correct. However, we were on the verge of catching a cab when the bus arrived at 9.25pm. The Hotel Room was fine (same as before) and consistently received extremely good service from the staff of the Holiday Inn Spa and Pool Staff. Overall, the first trip with Holiday Inn made me wanted to come back for more whereas the second trip made me want to look for another hotel. Lastly, my rewards points account has also not been updated with points from my present stay. December 25, 2012
