Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Felt Right at Home...Great Service and extremely Friendly Staffs I will visit Batam once every couple months for massages and relaxation. I have been to other resorts around the area, but settled for Holiday Inn Batam for more regular trips either with my girlfriends or my family/kid. My reasons are very simple: 1. Great Spa Service - Tea Tree Spa is definitely one of the best in Batam 2. Great People - Staffs are very friendly , smiley and never intrude our privacy and gives us enough breathing spaces, unlike some other resorts who TRIED very hard to please....Really must give my compliments to the reception/transport staffs right up to the housekeeping staffs....never fail to greet and smile. 3. Clean and Big Pool - I see the Manager and Staffs sometimes walking around checking for any area that needs to be cleaned and maintained. The only concern I always have and it has not improved for many years is the Sofa Set in some of the Living rooms that always seemed to be sunken in and wearing out...and the yellowish brownish water whenever I turn the tap to hot/warm... Did I mentioned that last couple of years back I realised the Mattresses were changed and it was getting softer and more comfortable than the very first stays I've had......Great Snoozing power on the beds... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great and personalized service! I was pleasantly surprised by one of the front-lined staffs greeted me by my name at the lobby when we got down from the van. I was even surprised that we got our room upgraded and he had already arranged for us to check-in early. We didn't need to be at the counter as we were seated at the lounge with our drinks while he explained to us the facilities around the hotel. He then brought us to our rooms and he even remembered that it was my husband's birthday and I had actually arranged a surprise cake for him. Overall we had an amazing time, though it was a short stay over the weekend. What I love the most is the warmth that we received and the extend of each and every staff to make my stay a memorable one. January 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by “Staycation Heaven” We were picked up from Skupang when we arrived via the last ferry. Check in was a breeze. As soon as we get into our one bedroom suite, we were super delighted to find it was spacious, clean & "chilled" upon our arrival. Something not even a 5 star hotel would do at times. We can't thank you enough for that and kudos to the room service team, service was prompt and efficient . ( we were hungry at 2 am :P) Getting massages & foot reflex at the Tea Tree Spa located within the hotel was such pampering treat, we love all 5 hrs of it :) Dinner at the cozy Japanese Restaurant by the pool with a 3 man band serenading the diners seals the romantic ambiance that we were after. We further wrap up the night with friendly singing session till way past midnight. It was a stay-cation heaven for us and we will be back soon and would be telling all our friends how wonderful our vacay was. January 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect short getaway We stayed at the hotel for 3 days to celebrate Christmas. We tried almost all the facilities in the hotel; lunch & dinner at the Terrace Cafe and Dragon Inn, Christmas dinner buffet, massage at the Tree Spa, bought some t-shirts from Polo and etc. It was perfect and very relaxing ! We felt as if we were in a 5-star resort in Bali :) PROs: - Room is spacious, clean and the pool-view balcony is beautiful. - The swimming pool is big and fun. My son loves it. - Free shuttle to town. Great service from the staff. We made a booking at 11am, but we were late and still at the room at the time. The staff called our room and checked if we were still interested to join them instead of just left us. Two thumbs up! - Check in & out is quite smooth. The staff even helped us to book our return ferry tickets. - We had a Balinese massage at the Tree spa. Very good and must try ! - Bed is big, soft and comfortable. BUT, the bed sheet had a bit of stain. I hope it would be improved in the future. CONs: - Foods and beverages are quite costly at the hotel premises. Still affordable though. - Location is quite far from town and nothing much to do in the evening. But we were aware of this and spent our evenings at the KTV and game room (they have Wii, Xbox 360, computers and billiard). - The bed sheet had some light stains. I hope it would be improved in the future. I will be recommending the hotel to friends and relatives and we are definitely coming back ! December 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home away from Home Ever since the first stay in in 2007, it has become an every 3 months spa escapade at Holiday Inn's Tea Tree Spa. Staff - Coming back here every single time is like meeting and catching up with old friends. Nothing could be more welcoming than to have the staff coming up to you for a chat, to have them waving at you from the other end of the lobby. Check in/out - Check in was smooth. To be recognised as a Priority Club Member (despite just at Club Level) upon check-in (with some freebies) was also something sweet. There was no welcome drink. But thankfully, the team leader for front office (unfortunately can't recall his name) thoughtfully served us hot tea. Check-out: a bit longer as we were unsure if we should pay $7 tax at the ferry terminal or hotel. So we just paid it ourselves in Rupiah at the ferry terminal. Room - the main thing I look forward to is a good night's sleep on the comfortable bed. Never disappointed. I have always been given a room on the 2nd floor and same block (no.4). Wish I could be given a higher floor like the first time. I am quite a light sleeper and my room faces the pool. But isn't a big issue for me. Spa - Nothing could beat Tea Tree Spa here. Engaging the same spa therapist (Henny, Rahmah, etc) a few times, made the getaway more meaningful. I miss the refreshing towels upon arrival at the Balinese-inspired spa. It's just a little something for us to freshen up. Perhaps you should have a special 1-yr spa package for regulars like me :) Breakfast spread - There were more variety of local Indonesian food in the past and there used to be a wide selection of tea. Now, there's more Singaporean food (ate too much of that back home) It is getting crowded recently (good business for the hotel, but I miss the quiet breakfast I used to have) so do get up early to get a good seat! Issues to look into 1. Elevators at Block 4 - the lights are flickering and quite stuffy. 2. Room 4206 which I stayed in was missing an ironing board and the safe was not functioning. 3. Refurbish some items in the rooms like the curtains and shower curtains. 4. Breakfast table - The placemats were dirty. Perhaps these should be replaced before the next guests sit. Scheduled shuttle service is provided to Nagoya which is great as taking a taxi would cost about S$14 one way. If you are not a shopper and simply want a spa getaway like me, this would be an excellent choice. Otherwise, opt for hotels in Nagoya. Thank you Holiday Inn staff for the birthday cake surprise (5 months ago!) I will see you in another 3 months :) December 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Birthday Celebration Planned for a 2d1n staycation with my partner with an in-house promotion coupled with a 150hrs massage and candle light dinner. Although mentioning that my arrival time is 1100hrs, my room was not ready until 1230hrs. This however was the only minus point of the stay. The room awarded was amazing huge with a living room, seperate kitchenette and a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom attached with separate shower and bath. The spa massage was indulgence at best housed in a private spa villa with a massage area with outdoor spa bath. The candle light dinner was a nice 4 course dinner (not amazingly good) but it was done just nice. It was served with complimentary red wine. The breakfast spread was very good, the best in batam and certainly as good as a HI can get. December 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Resort Batam - Aug 2013 We booked the Holiday Inn Resort for a 1-week family holiday for rest & relax. The family room that we booked was very conveniently located on the ground floor facing the pool. We had two bedrooms, a kitchen-dining area and a living area. Being on the ground floor has its benefit - you can get in and out of the pool/room very easily. It also has its drawback - we had a visitor in the form of a fat 7 inch centipede in the childrens bedroom, which I caught and let go in the garden area. That in itself was an adventure and definitely an experience for the kids. My wife enjoyed the onsite spa - a full 2 hour body treatment which, not surprisingly, was more expensive than in Batam town center. My kids loved the free form pool, which was divided into the "adults" section and a kids section complete with a water slide and a short lazy river. The staff overall were attentive and genuinely pleasant. If there is one thing disappointing about the saty, it is the food - portion, lunch/dinner selections, quality, and especially the price. Be prepared to pay a bundle for a small portion of noodles, for instance. And when you have 5 mouths to feed, it all adds up. The food quality overall was OK. We found out that another hotel in the vicinity also charged fairly exhorbitantly for a simple burger, pasta and fish meal, so its not only Holiday Inn Batam. What we ended up doing is loading up on a heavy breakfast, and eat a heavy dinner either in Batam town or some of the local eateries near the hotel. Location-wise, the surrounding area was very sleepy and quite disappointing. The local seafood restaurants near the jetty were cheap and OK only. We spent one full day in Batam town where the food is also cheap but again, not mindblowing. The shopping adequate. And there is no proper beach near where the hotel is located. Overall, we had a very nice stay at the Holiday Inn Resort. Will we recommend the hotel? Yes is my answer, only if you plan on staying in the hotel to lounge at the pool. If you want variety of food, shopping, massage, then take the shuttle to town, or stay in town. If you want a beach holiday, go to Bintan instead. November 16, 2013
