The Singing Ringing Tree is just over three miles from the hotel. This huge sculpture of hollow metal pipes resembles a space-age tree on top of the moors overlooking the town below. When the wind blows, it passes through the pipes to create a haunting, almost musical sound. Tuck into a home-made picnic as you ponder Pendle Hill across the green valleys of Burnley.

It's around 10 minutes' drive from the hotel to the ivy-clad stone walls of Towneley Hall, set amid manicured grounds. Other historic houses Salmesbury Hall and Gawthorpe Hall are also nearby.
