Things to do

Museum of Bavarian History

Donaumarkt 1, Regensburg, Bayern 93047

The Museum of Bavarian History opened in 2019 and is one of the most modern museum buildings in Europe. The permanent exhibition shows the history of Bavaria: from its foundation to the modern state.

UNESCO-World Heritage Site Old Town of Regensburg

In Regensburg's old town, which together with Stadtamhof has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016, you can still feel the medieval flair of the former trading metropolis. Since the old town was largely spared the destruction of the Second World War, the original preserved houses still hint at the city's wealth at that time. Stroll through the narrow, cobblestone streets and enjoy the liveliness of the city against a historical backdrop.

Historical Stone Bridge

Next to the cathedral, the Stone Bridge is the city's most important landmark and most photographed sight. The 309-metre-long bridge was built within only 11 years, probably from 1135 to 1146, and was the only reliable way to cross the Danube in Regensburg and the surrounding area until 1935. The Stone Bridge connects Regensburg's old town with the district of Stadtamhof.

St. Peter’s Cathedral

Domplatz 1, Regensburg, 93047

Regensburg's St. Peter's Cathedral is visible from afar with its two Gothic towers, each 105 metres high. It is located on Domplatz, not far from the Stone Bridge, and forms the centre of the city. St. Peter's Cathedral was built in the 13th century and is not only one of the most important cathedrals in Germany, but also the only Gothic cathedral in Bavaria. A sight you should not miss.
