The Perfect Day


Begin your day with Yoga at sunrise on the lawns and facing the Bay of Bengal. Enjoy a relaxing breakfast at the Melting Pot: Market Cafe. Get the InterContinental Concierge to arrange for transportation and visit Dakshinachitra for an insider’s experience of South India. See and experience the cultural values and traditions that are being practiced through generations. If you like a seaside adventure, set out deep-sea fishing or sign up for a lesson in surfing, kayaking or stand-up paddling.


Return to the Resort for a leisurely lunch and thereafter visit the temples in Mahabalipuram – A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start from the Resort by 1500 hours and visit the Shore Temple that dates back to the 8th Century, the Giant open air Bas reliefs known as Arjuna’s penance and Descendent of the Ganges and the Pancha Rathas – 5 monolithic rocks sculpted in the style of the chariot of each of the Pandavas. For an afternoon in the ocean, sign up for the beginners Discover Scuba experience.


Take a leisurely stroll on the beach enjoying the sea breeze of the Bay of Bengal. Enjoy Sundowners on Saturdays with live music, barbecue bites at the beach bar. Reserve your private tent on the beach for aperitifs and canapes, and follow it up by a personalised meal. Or kick back with special cocktails at The Gatsby Lounge, followed by a Chinese gourmet experience at the Tao of Peng.

    In the year 1908, the Governor of Madras Mr. Arthur Lawley decided that the boulder known as Krishna's butter ball would be too dangerous for nearby homes and hence had employed seven elephants to push the rock but failed as the rock wouldn't move an inch.
