Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable stay First time stay at a Candlewood Suites property. It exceeded our expectations. Only recommendation would be to have softer mattresses (it was a little too firm for us). Otherwise, everything was great. We definitely recommend Candlewood Suites, and would stay there again. It is always a pleasure to meet and talk with the staff (they are so friendly and sincerely helpful). This trip was due to a funeral and the front desk actually looked to see if I could receive a better rate (how nice and sincere). I would definitely recommend this property to anyone passing through. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap, easy, comfortable. Housekeeping needs improvement Everything is fine here. I've stayed many times for work and this is a place that I would go back to because the hotel is quiet, there is a decent gym, and two laundry rooms. However, the following improvements need to be made: 1) Housekeeping is borderline horrible. I checked in at 4:30 pm, and my room was not ready. When I did walk in there, the room was tidy, but, the floors needed to be vacuumed and the counter tops needed to be cleaned. The following week, when my room was cleaned, the counter tops appeared dirtier than they were when I left that morning and the floor had not been mopped and vacuumed and nothing had been cleaned in the bathroom; 2) For my second stay in three weeks, the washer in the first floor laundry room was still not operable. This should have been fixed weeks ago. August 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stay in Paducah This was not the experience that I am used to at this hotel. The room was not properly cleaned when we arrived at the hotel but it was too late at that point to make a change. We had been on the road all day for business and I was too tired to make a fuss at that point. When we arrived the desk clerk was friendly and helpful and had our room keys ready and did acknowledge my Platinum Elite status. Things went straight downhill from this point on and my fatigue from a long day only served to exacerbate the negatives. The first thing I noticed was that the coffee maker had not been cleaned. No big deal, I had seen this before at other hotels, but not what I expected. Next I noticed that all of the silverware, plates and glasses were in the dishwasher and had not been washed. The coffee condiments had not been refilled and there was not sugar or coffee creamer available, so I had to go back downstairs and retrieve some creamer and sugar for the morning. At least we had a fresh package of coffee. Since the dishes were still dirty we had to use Styrofoam cups that I got from downstairs as well. Finally came the condition of the bedding. We stayed in a room with two queen beds and got into one of the beds to sleep when we noticed that there was hair all over the comforter. It looked like dog hair but we could not be sure. Something in the bed caused both myself and my wife to feel very itchy also, so we switched beds and finally got some much needed rest. I have stayed in this hotel on a few occasions and to be honest, this was the first bad experience that I had encountered here. I was surprised by how poorly the room had been cleaned and the lack of care by the maid who cleaned it. August 2, 2014
