The rooms are to a very high standard, the staff are very helpful and the food is good. I usually stay here if going to a concert as it is so handy and convenient. Throughout our stay the service and attitude of the staff was first class. The food, both evening meal and breakfast was superb, so much so that this hotel is now the standard that me wife will measure all hotels in the future I cannot thank the staff enough for the way they ensured we enjoyed our short stay March 20, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Respite stay I have a disability. I came to stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow for a respite visit. I was able to coordinate my morning and evening care locally, but I was independent the rest of the time. I wanted to attend the Classic Stitches show at the SECC. I was very happy to see that there is a connecting corridor between the hotel and the SECC, and that it is very accessible (appropriate to all guidelines.) The room was spacious and the toilet was completely fitted out with a roll in shower and a fold down seat. There was a hoist in the toilet and over the bed. All that was wonderful, allowed me to relax because everything was in place for my needs. But abve that-- the staff were all helpful without being condescending and responsive in a very respectful way. From the duty manager who assisted me over the the SECC one morning, to the mainentance man who brought me extra plugs and sorted other premises issues, and to the housekeeper who went above and beyond the call of duty to find out how to work the hand shower for me-- all the staff in the restaurant as well. I'm sure I wasn't treated any better or worse than any other guest, but I really appreciate how well they were able to treat me with any other guest, albeit one who needed a little more support than others at time. I would commend this hotel for many reasons, but I recommend this hotel to anyone I know who has any kind of disability. They understand the word "inclusion". March 16, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fab Girls Aloud stay at the Plaza! I took my mum to see Girls Aloud this month at the SECC it was a Christmas gift. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza and had a great time. The staff are enthusiastic, helpful and cheery despite being rushed off their feet! I had the best nights sleep I've had in ages and want to buy the pillows! Great hotel in a great location for the SECC and surrounding area. Will definitely be back! March 15, 2013

The carpet was filthy, the bathroom sink did not have a working plug and the sealing around the bath and sink unit was apparently done by Stevie Wonder. There were two of us in the double room but only one complimentary, but not to be taken home, bathrobe. Next time in Glasgow we will stay somewhere else. Shoddy. March 10, 2013

Staff were so welcoming and went that extra mile with a birthday card and wine delivered to our room. Really big, comfy bed with good quality linen, pillows and duvet. Plenty of hanging space in wardrobe. Powerful shower and nice, big, fluffy towels. Barry, the concierge, was very helpful from the minute I phoned to ask about our room and again when we arrived. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DOWN HILL i cannot believe how down hill this hotel has gone, the room was nice and clean but thats where it ends, we arrived at the hotel at 15.30, checked in no problem but was surprised to get a knock on the door from 2 men wanting to clean the air conditioning fan in the ceiling! i think they could have done that between check out and check in times, not after guests have arrived, so we sat for 10 minutes in the room until they "cleaned" it, and left all the fluff and stew on the carpet, we then went down to the restaurant for supper which was terrible. after getting back to the room and going to bed we were woke up with what sounded like someone taking a stick over a radiator but realised it was the air conditioning, the noise went on and off all night. just to finish it off we went down for breakfast, which also was terrible, and my fork was bent so much, i couldnt believe that anyone would place that on a table at home never mind a hotel which used to have such high standards.and there was a young teenage girl having breakfast with her pyjamas on, running around the breakfast area, in her bare feet stealing all the small tubs and pkts and putting them in her mothers bag! surely there should be some kind of dress code! we stayed here as we had a concert and it is convenient for the secc, unfortunately we have booked again for another concert next month and i did ask at reception if i could cancel, as we did not enjoy our stay on this occasion, to which she replied ok thank you madame but it is non refundable, she has yet to ask why our stay was not pleasant. so we will have to stay again, but im afraid after that we will no longer use this hotel, which is a shame as it was such a nice hotel before. very disappointed! However the restaurant was a disapppointment. We waited over half an hour for a chicken dish which consisted of a piece of chicken wrapped in ham served with dried up potatoes. On complaining we were told this dish was cooked to order but this was not mentioned on the menu or when we ordered it. It neither looked nor tasted like this was the case.At the time of ordering there were only about 6 other diners. Food in general was of a poor quality. We were not the only ones to complain that night. Hotel fine place to stay but recommend eating elsewhere. February 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, good location, stuffy room Just back from a one night stay in a 2 x double bedded room. High standard and all the ameities you would expect. Great location for SECC and nice setting being on the bank of River Clyde. Convenient parking on site (chargeable - but can be added to room bill so not too much hassle paying at a machine). Staff very friendly and housekeeping quick to respond. However our room was very stuffy and made for a not very comfortable night sleep. This was down it not being possible to open the window. The room had air conditioning but not very effective and quite noisy. Considering this stay was mid February I would imagine Summer could be a particularly uncomfortable time to stay. Otherwise a very nice hotel and pleasant stay. February 25, 2013

My daughter left her handbag in the bar and it was returned to her the next morning with nothing missing. The only negatives would be that the breakfast and plates (in spite of a warning that plates were hot) were not hot and there was only one member of staff running back and forth to the kitchen to top up the dishes. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Crown Plaza Glasgow for 1 night and can't wait to go back. We booked it as we were going to a concert at the SECC and it was also Valentines night. We booked a 1 KING BED STANDARD, Advance Saver Rate With Breakfast and when we checked in we were upgraded to a suite on the 14th floor, which was beautiful! Separate living room with massive windows and the view was stunning. There is direct access to the SECC through an internal corridor which is great as you don't have to go outside and worry about coats or umbrellas. Room service is available, we got a pizza delivered to our room after the concert, delicious. We didn't go for dinner in the restaurant so can't comment but it looked really nice and will definitely do it next time. The breakfast was delicious! hot buffet with everything required to make a good Scottish breakfast, sausages, slice, bacon, eggs, hash browns, potato scones, haggis, beans and more....also if you prefer continental there was plenty there to choose from. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was spotless. Overall we had the perfect stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone. February 21, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointing ! I booked this as a 2 for 1 offer but 2 for 1 is not quite what it says when dealing with Crowne Plaza / IC Hotels. You get a price for the night and you would think that that is the price you would pay on a 2 for 1 deal, well, they take some sort of average price and your 2 nightv are based on this. I thought I would be paying £xx.xx but just before I hit the pay button I noticed in the bottom left hand corner of the page a price of £xxx.00 !! As it was a special occasion I just booked it but felt miffed enough to call IC hotels. Well, that was it, take it or leave it and it was only after about 10 minutes of discussion that I suggested that complimentary breakfasts might be a nice gesture, she agreed. We arrived on a very cold night (Jan 18th) ad there was no sign of a porter to help with luggage. The receptionist was very nice, efficient but only confirmed one comp. breakfast. She did give me the second but made it look as if it was her that was doing me a favour. No offer was made to get help with luggage. The suite was clean but needed a refurb and the standard was about 3 star. The bed was very comfortable so top marks for that. Breakfast next morning left a lot to be desired regarding service. This was provided (or not as was mostly the case) by foreign staff. They seemed more interested in chating between themselves than clearing tables or offering tea and coffee. The food quality was very good but let down badly by the staff. The second mornings breakfast was just as bad as the first although again, they were not busy. Although paying handsomely for a suite we were refuse entry to the Club Room. Why ? There was also no recognition, so what's the point of Priority Club ? To be honest we have had better, cleaner rooms in a X x X with better service and a lot less to pay. This used to be a great hotel but maybe the total lack of the sighting of any management is the reason that it is now at the bottom of the league with IC Hotels. If anyone cares to respond try and not make is a computer generated response and please don't say we hope to welcome you back again ! Why should I pay out good money to come back and check out what should have been right this time.................maybe a freebie, but I doubt that ! February 17, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Easy Access to SECC. A friend and I were attending a show in the SECC, we love staying at the hotel as it makes access to the SECC very quick and easy. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. We had a twin room on 6th floor, very comfortable beds, nicely furnished and clean. The bar area is lovely to sit in before a show, hence it is allways very busy. After our first nights stay, we came back from shopping late afternoon to find our room had not been serviced, a room attendant came bye to service it at 3.30, but as the restaurant was fully booked, we needed to get ready early so we could eat in the bar before the show. We asked him to come back after 4 when we would be gone. When we returned to our room after 11pm, it still had not been serviced. We spoke to the reception desk right away, and they immediately offered us 25% off that nights stay, and had someone come up to our room right away with fresh towels and all the bits and pieces you would have expected to have been replaced during servicing the room. We were very happy with their response. I would certainly recommend staying here if you are travelling to see a show at the SECC, but remember, if you want to eat in the restaurant (and it is very good!) book a table early. Because of the good parking at the hotel, and the "inside" access to the SECC, many people go there to eat or have a few drinks before the show, so even if you are a resident, it doesn't mean you will be able to eat in the hotel! Even by 4.30pm the bar area was quite full, so we were lucky to find two seats and get a bar supper. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, certainly be back again. February 11, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff Reception/Concierge staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and efficient - and in a very friendly but not overpowering way. My wife had hurt her back shortly before her arrival - the staff arranged a wheelchair for her so that she could attend the concert we had booked to see. They also made adjustments to the bed to ease the pain in her back - nothing was too much trouble. Restaurant and bar staff were also of a very high standard. Have stayed in this hotel quite a few times and have always been impressed with the staff and the service provided. February 9, 2013

We booked a meal in the hotel restaurant the food was very nice but the service was very slow ,and there was not enough staff working for the amount of guests staying .If the hotel can get the staffing issues sorted this would make it excellent.. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel with great amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at this hotel. We were going to a concert at the SECC and the hotel was in an ideal location for this. The hotel has a covered walkway linking the hotel to the SECC which was just perfect. The only downside to the hotel I would say is that the bedroom window was sealed and I prefer to be able to open a window slightly. There was a room temperature control in the room which you could easily adjust. There was also air conditioning in the room, but this was too noisy to switch on through the night so we had to switch it off, therefore the room started to heat up. As soon as we woke up we had to switch the air conditioning on. Overall our stay was a good experience. February 7, 2013
