great downtown location. but that's about it.

May 04, 2015

stayed here while we visited our neice. staff was excellent very friendly and prompt. so we were looking fordward to the room and view. the view was super we could see everything and the room was very quite and dark. at first the room looked very different kinda neat, well that wore off as we used the room. the lights are really cool, but very little light and hard to turn off (most are foot operated). the switches make little sense when trying to turn on or off. so next up the bathroom, get ready for no shower curtian or door of any type. so you guessed it water gets all over the floor you just put a towel to step on, oh and its darn cold as you feel a breeze as the exhaust fan is running. the holder for the soap just fits the mini shampoo, and my towel would not stay on the funky holders. double sink is nice, but its almost all sink and no real place to put your personal items. no heat lamps and the door to the restroom is a sliding door. dosent really close so you can hear everything someone else is doing in there. the living area is very dark and a type of laminet floor not foot frendly.
So its like they are shooting for a modern feel, however the quality of the workman ship in whom ever renoed the room is one of the worst I have seen. Its like the decorator tried for some style and it feels like a mess as nothing works. I travel 4 times a week almost every week and have never stayed at a location this room disorginazed. Shame as they could have made it very nice, they are still renovating this property maybe they will get a second option before doing more rooms like this and the quality of the contractor.

Fresh look and feel to a great river view hotel

April 29, 2015

I have stayed in the St. Paul Crown Plaza for a number of years. Love the river view and the proximity to the downtown, but the rooms were aging. The Crown is now experiencing a renovation that makes this hotel so much more attractive, comfortable and enjoyable. As always, the staff is friendly and attentive and now the renovated rooms are fresh and modern. An enjoyable stay in St. Paul.

Comfortable and relaxing

April 29, 2015

I have stayed in this hotel before. Even in the midst of remodeling, the hotel was accommodating and comfortable. The bathrooms are larger, more plug ins for electronics.

I am familiar with the area, so did not use the concierge service. Ate breakfast buffet in the mornings and it was wonderful!

Remodeling leaves a lot to be desired

April 29, 2015

This property is currently being renovated. It is apparent that the management is spending lots of money updating this facility. The room design upon entering is fabulous during the day. At night it is terrible as one cannot figure out how to simply turn on the lights to see. From there it goes downhill. The handles on the dressers prevent them from being pulled open as they handle is just a straight piece of wood. Contemporary in style but not functional. The modern thermostat is impossible to read and how it works even I who have 3 modern Nest thermostats could not comprehend. The shower is great and very accessible without a step and a grab bar to get in but then there is not a bar to put your washcloth on nor the soap that is near the shower head. The shelf is 6 feet away at the entry door area. The room design makes great photos during the day but the functionality is very poor.
