Upon check in I was told that I would not receive IHG reward points for my stay.
I requested a microwave. Was told there are none at this facility. After questioning numerous employees about this I finally got the real reason for no microwaves. It is because the owner does not want a microwave on the new furniture in the renovated room! This is an unexceptable reason. After contacting management about this, I told them that I am going to get a hold of the corporate office to make a complaint and I was told by the lower management that they encourage me to call corporate and complain! That to me is saying they can't control it because the owner won't let them.
I am a buisness travaler. I work 12 to 14 hours a day and stay at hotels 2 weeks or 3 weeks at a time. That is an amenitie that I use all the time considering I don't want to always eat at a restaurant. To be told that they have 1 microwave in the kitchen that they can walk me back to and allow me to warm food is crazy. I do not want to come "home" have to walk to the third floor get my food and go downstairs and warm it up and then return to my room to eat it. Especially after a 12 to 14 hour work day. I feel this is unexceptable.

If you are travelling to Charlotte, for business or leisure, this Holiday Inn is under renovation. Convenient for travel to airport. We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms - they are comfortable, and have new furniture, carpets and wall coverings. The lobby and restaurant are still under renovation so you will use a temporary lobby. IHG expects renovations will be completed by Aug 2014. We hope to go back and see the completed renovations for an night out on the town.

Under renovation but easy to get around and register and do all necessary things as long as you read the signs and pay attention. Our room and floor were finished and were top flight, up to date and very modern!!

This hotel is undergoing renovations, and I would suggest that you find somewhere else to stay until they are complete. The front desk staff is friendly and that is about it. Very close to airport and can hear planes taking off and landing very clearly.

The staff is great, but the management/owner seems to be the problem here. For those of us that are on the road week after week, I tend to not like to go out to eat but prefer to stay in my room and relax. There was not a microwave in the room and when I asked about one, I was told the owner did not allow them. It would have been nice to know before I brought microwaveable trays.
In addition to the microwave issue, I was told by the check in staff that I would not be getting points for my stay last week. I guess I will be making a call to corporate about these issues. It may seem trivial, but Holiday Inns are my home 90% of the year!

We had to find a hotel at the last minute, went online and booked and when we got there they had our room ready and we got to sleep in one of the new rooms and it was beautiful. Glad we stayed there. Will come back again.

The ladies at the front desk and guys behind the makeshift bar make up for the minor inconveniences of the construction! Even the cleaning staff went out of their way to greet me every time I saw them and offer their services. I would recommend a room on the 3rd or 4th floor, as the 2nd is being renovated and the 1st floor receives a LOT of traffic. It is a good property now, and when construction is complete, the current staff and new space will make this an excellent property.

The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations, the commons areas were not very accessible and usable, temporary lobby was small.
I stayed in a renovated room, and the hallway and room were great.
Hopefully, access by elevator will be looked at during the renovation. 1 old and slow elevator for the whole hotel is not enough.

I understand the hotel is under renovation, and there is a temporary entrance; however there is no obvious sign directing customers. To the matter at hand I sustained multiple bug bites while staying at this hotel. The only thing that was done about it was I was placed in another room. I was told nothing else could be done until the general manage return. I started calling him on Monday 5/12, I didn't hear from him until Thursday 5/15 after leaving multiple messages on his voicemail and with other staff, at which point he denied I received bug bites there. I have photos and his staff witnessed. The staff members even said to me with all the renovation going on, it's possible something has gotten into the room. The general manager suggested it may have been detergent. I am a registered nurse, I clearly know the difference between allergic reactions vs bug bites. My son got the same bites on his abdomen. That is really bad business, to have something like that happen and brush it off like no big deal. Will never stay at another Holiday Inn.

This property has the potential to be an asset to the area, but right now it is a disgrace.
Access to check in is really inconvenient and uncomfortable, with people hanging out on walkways and outside doors being held open for "visitors", in full view of staff.
Our renovated room had potential, but no poor water pressure and a hole in the wall that was attempted to be covered, showed a lack of good construction practices.
Upon checkout very early the next morning,we mentioned these deficiencies,along with a general disappointment with this IHG property and was told we would be credited the points we used for this stay. Nothing has shown up in the account 7 days after checkout.

My husband, two children and I checked in late on a Friday night. The Security Guard at the front door should have alerted us to possible issues, but we were too late with our reservation to cancel it without a penalty. The lobby was filled with loud, rough looking men, as was the parking lot. We walked into our room only to find that the parking lot below us was filled with very loud people, as well as the rooms adjacent to us and the hallway. There was noise and loud shouting through out the night. I would not be able to recommend this property to a friend until the renovation is complete.

Our stay was average. There was some drama in the lobby between a security guard and a patron; patron wanted the security guard's head on a platter; not sure why. Jorge at the front desk was friendly and very courteous. Ten Cool Points for Jorge. The room was average. I was not expecting a lot. In the morning while my spouse was getting ready in the bathroom I was sitting on the couch checking e-mail on my laptop. When I stood up she saw a rat (not a field mouse) jump from the couch behind me and run under the bed. We were in a hurry to get to the airport and that's why we chose this location. Very, very close to the airport.
I called the hotel and left a message for the manager. That was five days ago. Haven't heard back from anybody...

Stayed that this hotel on 4/21 and again on 4/23. Hotel is undergoing major remodel. If I had know this in advance, I would not have booked rooms to stay there. Limited parking, very difficult to get in and out of the hotel (lobby under construction). Received an invite to the VIP lounge for evening snacks and breakfast. There was a table and four chairs and a small couch in the room and nowhere for all the people in the room to sit, much less eat. People walked in, looked around and left including myself. Convenience to the airport was a plus. Stayed in rooms that were recently remodeled and they was nice and comfortable. Price was to high for all the trouble and inconvenience. Very limited dining in the area other than fast food. The hotel restaurant is a pretty small room and had limited seating. When I checked on both nights, two different people were working the front desk and neither recognized me as a IGH Rewards Club Gold member. The hotel has a lot of potential, but right now it's a mess!!!

The old girl is getting a makeover, and that was somewhat of an inconvenience. But the staff makes the best of it. The room is dated, the tub old with dirty grout, etc. But the bed(s) were OK, and all but one wall socket worked.
It is a decent value- they seem to have it under-priced during the project.
The temporary restaurant and bar are small, but the food was OK.

Holiday Inn is my go-to hotel; however, I was very disappointed with this location. Reception & checkout was great, but unfortunately that is the only positive statement I can make. I was offered a 10% discount for the restaurant, but when I went, the room was nearly filled and no other women were present. As a women traveling alone, I was very uncomfortable. I decided to order room service and was denied my discount, because I was not dining in the restaurant. When I explained my reasons for not eating in the in the dining room, I was told 'sorry, policy does not let us honor your discount." . Considering most Holiday Inns go out of the their way to make women feel safe, I was really surprised at the denial. So considering this and the fact the room was out of date, dark, smelled very musty, had thin walls (could here everyone in the room next door and in the hall, had a noisy air conditioner, I cancelled my remaining reservation dates and left the next morning. And, I should mention - the food was awful. I order the steak salad - lettuce was old and the steak was tough.
I will not return to this location.

We booked this hotel and had no idea they were under construction. The room we stayed in was one that was remodeled but when we turned on the faucet water flooded our bathroom, as pipes were not connected. The breakfast was not the usual hot breakfast, but a tray of fruit, donuts and yogurt. This was served in a tiny room with only one table. Not convenient or what we had expected. We took shuttle to airport. Upon return we called and were told shuttle would be with us shortly. We waited 30 minutes and finally took a cab back to hotel to get our car which cost us $15 out of pocket. When we returned to hotel in cab we saw the shuttle parked in the lot with no driver to be seen. Did I mention I called the hotel three times without answer while waiting for shuttle?

The staff was very helpful, the security personnel, restaurant staff and the front desk assisted me with everything I needed...Room was one of the newly remodeled ones and was very comfortable. I was was very pleased even with the renovation going on. I will definitely stay again!

We stay at this Holiday Inn every time were in the area. Visiting the area, business, or flying out the next morning. Always find the service, room and all other services great. The front desk staff have always been so accommodating and friendly. The shuttle drivers are great also to get you to the airport on time. I have stayed here for years and the renovation is exciting. Again,I give this Holiday Inn a thumps up!

We had 4 rooms at the hotel based on what we saw on line. there was no mention of renovation of the hotel. We did feel the price was apporpriat for the condition of the hotel durring our stay.

We needed a place to stay near the airport and decided that this was the closest. Hotel is under a complete remodel. We stayed on the 4th floor which was completely renovated. Nice new furnishings, carpet ect.
Other than the inconvenience of the remodel a great place to stay.
Onsite restaurant was good.

The place is fine and certainly in a good location for anyone needing a stop over for an early flight as I had. The renovations make determining the entry a bit of a puzzle and the check-in area is tight if you have a lot of people.
Fitness room had more machines out of order than working but the barbells helped make it salvageable.
Overall it's not an ideal stay but under early morning flight circumstances it should be okay as it was for me.
