My only suggestion is to help the room service know what should be brought on a tray to the room - he forgot steak sauce and had to go get some ~ then after he was gone I noticed there was no lemon or cocktail sauce for the shrimp.
Other than that - very nice room - great pillows - loved having a microwave and refrigerator in room.

Holiday Inn hotels are usually our first choice when we travel. They have very comfortable beds and nice clean rooms.
We've stayed at the Durango hotel in 2013 and thought the staff was very inexperienced then. We were told that the hotel had just opened and therefore we weren't surprised to see some hick-ups.
However, a year later, the front desk staff was still inexperienced, disinterested and unprofessional, bordering on being rude. During check-in, the lady answered the phone and completely forgot about us, never apologizing for interrupting the check-in, even though there was another receptionist who could have answered the phone instead. We actually had to switch to that person to finish check-in since the lady never hung up the phone while we were standing there.
The front desk staff never acknowledged the presence of people walking into the hotel or standing at the front desk until they were spoken to. We stayed there for three days and not once were we greeted by someone at the front desk.
At check-out we were promised a receipt by e-mail which never came. We had to call a few days later to request a receipt again only to receive one for a different guest. I'm sure the person whose report we received would be pleased to know that the hotel is giving his address away freely to someone else.
Holiday Inn hotels have a very good reputation and I hate to see that poor staff management and training is affecting the reputation. I hope that this issue will be addressed soon.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Kika1959 Better find another hotel or any Holiday inn Express
The location of the hotel was very good if you want to visit "the mesa" but I would stay in another hotel. The breakfast was not good and it was included in the room rate but we had to pay for tax and tip, even if we did not spend the $20.00 dollars credit. Absurd! The service in the dining room was awfull.

Sadly, this is not like the Holiday Inn Express I am used to. The front desk staff was rude and disinterested, my room was way overpriced, my view overlooked a part of the roof and heating duct, and there was no breakfast included. This was a 4-star price for a 1-star experience.

The room are nice and quite comfortable. The exercise and weight room are clean but should have an elliptical for use with bad knees. The have room service and a hotel restaurant and pub. The look nice but I did not use them myself.

When I was young I worked at the old Holiday Inn Durango were my brother -in-law was the Innkeeper. That was back in the late 60s and early 70s. It was a great experience and I have been loyal to the Holiday Inn brand ever since.
It has been 12 years since I have been back to the Durango area and I was amazed and pleasantly surprised at the "New" Holiday Inn in Durango. It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning in the near future.
