Was pleasantly surprised when I was registering that the hotel provided a Bereavement Rate for those attending a funeral. Front desk staff in particular was exceptional. Throughout my stay the actions of the staff continually reminded me that I was a valued customer. Room was clean and comfortable and provided me a place to relax. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A fantastic stay! I took my 3 & 4 year old daughters and our 87 year old grandma to Fargo for a little shopping and relaxation. The Holiday Inn was perfect! We were poolside and it was wonderful! The girls loved the pool, many hours spent swimming and it was fantastic we could eat near the pool with food delivered right to us. Almost all our meals were in the hotel as kids eat free and with the wide age of us everyone could get a meal they enjoyed. I was very impressed with the care taken with the hotel. Staff was always working hard at maintenance and cleaning, never saw anyone sitting around. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very impressed to see a staff member cleaning the baseboards on her knees, that is attention to detail. Very well managed staff! Only complaint was the bathrooms were a tad small but it's an older hotel that has been remodeled very nice so they can't change that now. I would recommend this hotel to any family with younger children. A fantastic stay! September 8, 2013

Very relaxed and enjoyed our stay! the kids love the pool and the staff were there when the pool was full and watching to make sure kids were not being rude and out of control. good to see some staff in the pool area. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nasty Stayed in room 228 and the room was nasty. The carpet had a black sticky sheen to it. It's pretty bad when you can't take your shoes off because it feels like you're walking on fly paper. I took a damp cloth and wiped the carpet and it was black. Like I said, nasty. I've always tried to stay at IHG hotels because of brand consistency. That's just not the case now. August 26, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Clean, Newly Renovated, Great Staff I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Fargo with my 9 year old, and her grandma. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. The hotel was spotless. I was surprised when I was told the hotel was not brand new, just newly renovated, as we thought it was a brand new hotel. The pool area is amazing for kids, my daughter had a blast. The only down side was the "code brown" in the pool. However staff quietly went to everyone seated around the pool and asked that we remove our kids from the pool as there was a "code brown", they were very discrete and handled it very well. They had the pool cleaned and running in about 1.5 hrs. I imagine that there are a lot of hotels out there that just wouldn't care and ignore the problem. The food was great. It has been a long time since I have been in a hotel where staff has been that friendly and helpful. The location being across the street from the West Acres Mall was a bonus. Unfortunately, Fargo doesn't seem to be very pedestrian friendly. But we were given the option of having the hotel driver take us anywhere we wanted to go! August 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not room 121 There is a large generator right outside the window to this room. It starts up every hour, it sounds like a garbage truck. Air conditioner does not drown it out. If you are given this room, ask for another. I would have called to get another room, but it was after midnight when I got back to my room, & didn't want to worry the rest of the people in our party when I wasn't in my room the next morning. Ear plugs would have been nice. Have stayed here in the past & enjoyed it very much, not this room! August 21, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Would Not Reccomend. The rooms were stinky. Like they were just smoked in. The air was really muggy. Which made the sheets feel gross. The bathrooms were super small. I wish they would do a remodel. I would not stay there again for what they charge and what you get. No way! Way too expensive for what you get. The rest of my family that stayed that weekend there felt the same way. August 21, 2013

I don't know if the filtration system wasn't working or what, but dirt and hair had rolled into balls along the edge at the bottom of the pool. August 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed and sofa bed and clean room. The room was comfortable but lacked a fridge and microwave. We were checked in by the assistent manager who failed to tell us about the wrist bands for the pool and the ticket needed for the kids eats free promo. We also were not told about getting a fridge and microwave wheeled into our room, a definite drawback. Other wise the pool was great for my daughter and we had a good nights sleep. August 19, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by overall a good stay The pool area needs clocks so parents can regulate the time better. Kids eat free with paid adult, but it has to be in the restaurant. We would have liked to eat in the pool area so kids could swim while we finished. taking them in the restaurant was painful when they want to swim. restaurant was also really slow with only 2 or 3 tables in use. food was good and reasonably priced. beds were fair and room was great. easy access to the rooms was also a plus. Rooms were clean, comfortable bed, and having a fridge, microwave and flat-screen TV are nice amenities. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor pool restrictions/lack of info reserving online I recently had a kids pool party here. It did not give any stipulations about the pool when I reserved the room online. It turns out you only get 4 wristbands per room reservation and each child MUST have a wristband to play in the pool. When I informed the front desk that I had more than 4 kids coming to swim, they told me there was nothing they could do about it and that the kids would have to swap out the wristbands so only 4 could swim at a time. I offered to pay for a few extra wristbands and they said absolutely not. I have had several pool parties in the past at different hotels and have never been restricted on the number of children allowed to swim at once. If this is the case for a hotel, it should clearly state this BEFORE you reserve the room online. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. August 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Hotel Experience of My Life When we checked in the first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelled like our wing was the smoking section for years and they were trying to get rid of it. Secondly we opened the door and everything in our room was extremely old. It looked like it had not been updated in years. For the amount we paid we at least expected a fridge in our room. Nope. Ok, we can deal with that, so we decided to go to the pool with our kids. The pool area was so packed you could not get in the hot-tub and the wait to go down the slides in the pool was ridiculous. Nice pool but needs to be bigger to accommodate that many rooms. Went back to the room around 10pm & turned on the AC, it was extremely loud but we dealt with it and went to bed...well, we were put in a room near the ice machine so from about 10pm-12am every time someone filled ice we got woken up. 12am-2am-The people in the room next to us came back from the pool, the walls were paper thin we could hear every word they said and they weren't even being loud. Stayed up to listen to them until they went to bed. 2am-3am-We were stuck in room 408, right next to the maintenance room. Something started in that room that was so loud it sounded like a train was coming through our room. Why you would put a family with 2 kids under 5 yrs old in the that room is unbelievable. No one in our room slept at all. 2:30am I go to the front desk to make them aware of the situation, I am told I will get a full refund for that night and the next night I was supposed to stay there, which I told her there was no way I was staying there. Next Day- My wife speaks to the manager when we check out and again I am ensured I will get a full refund but since I booked through a third party it will take a while to get my refund. I am still waiting to see if I actually get my money back for this horrible experience. Unfortunately I will NEVER stay at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND EVER again and will consider every other hotel before I stay at a Holiday Inn anywhere else. August 6, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smokiest non-smoking room ever We stayed for a wedding that we were in and by the time we went to the room it was late and we were extremely tired. We reserved a non-smoking room, but when I opened the door, we were blasted with the stench of cigarette smoke. The smoke smell was so bad that I woke up numerous times just from the foul smell. My eyes were red and my throat was sore in the morning, which I believe to be from the smoke. It was like sitting in a bingo hall or old bar all night. If that weren't bad enough, the carpet in the room was sticky. It felt like someone had dumped soda all over the floor in that room; it was beyond disgusting, I couldn't stand to put my bare feet on the carpet. Had it not been for the time of night and my exhaustion, I would have been up at the front desk demanding a different room. Between this garbage dump of a room in Fargo and the dump in Spearfish, SD, I will NEVER stay at a Holiday Inn again ever. July 29, 2013

We had stayed at a Hyatt Place and ate a wonderful free breakfast, thought the Holiday Inn would have the same. Also we had a pool side room and it was quite loud in the am as people were swimming early. Great convenience for the pool but not good sound proofing. July 29, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by front desk staff I was disappointed with the attitude of two of the young women employees. I arrived at 2 pm just to check to see if my room would happen to be ready...was told it was "A 4 O'CLOCK GUARANTEE" and no the room was not ready but she would advise housekeeping. Find I came back at 3:45 to see if it was ready and a different clerk said no it's not and I can't do anything about it!!! So I told her to tell housekeeping they had 15 minutes as I had a "FOUR O'CLOCK GUARANTEE". I sat and waited in the Lobby until 4:05 and asked if my room was ready..."what is the name...checked and yes it was" Would it have hurt her to look up and tell me the room was ready? I booked my room three months in advance, paid for it three months in advance and was treated like a dog. While I was sitting waiting at 3:45 several other people came in and their rooms were ready but my poolside was not - unexcused. The rest of the staff was pleasant and polite. The second girl actually had the nerve to say "what are you doing here?" I said "excuse me" and she said "well what are you doing here" to which I replied I'm here because I'm here period. If she were doing a survey such as are you here for pleasure or business, acceptable. May part of the orientation should be how to be polite. Unfortunately, even though I have the priority club with Holiday Inn, I do not believe I'll return to this sit July 24, 2013
