Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive for level of hotel Room rates are high considering Internet, parking and breakfast is extra. Some rooms have been refurbished but barrooms have not . I have stayed at the Marina several times due to lack of choice in Hull. But this visit is my last. February 24, 2014

I travel regularly but have never felt the need to write and fill in online questioners too. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Whoopee a room with a view of the marina We always stay here when we go to the Hull Truck Theatre. Our room is always clean and comfortable plus we had a view of the marina for a change. This is lovely to wake up to in the morning. Breakfast here is brilliant especially with the pancake maker plus the new offer of omelettes, poached eggs to order and porridge. Lovely variety of fruits, breads and cooked items. The hotel itself is a little tired and needs some investment but this is more than compensated by the excellent, friendly and very competent staff. From the front desk; Emma, Kath and Alison are always so cheery and efficient. In the bar Ashley is just fantastic and so attentive. In the restaurant and at Breakfast Jade, Lizzie and Maria make a real difference to my day. I spend a lot of time away from home and it's friendly service that really makes a difference to me. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal location - WIFI needs explaining My wife and I spent two days at Hull Marina immediately after spending two days at the Holiday Inn Express in Lincoln. The hotel is ideally located, giving great views of the Marina and opposite the largest shopping centre in Hull. We were greeted warmly on arrival and had various attractions in Hull explained to us. Our room was large and comfy and had a small veranda overlooking the Marina (though not all roooms have this facility). The breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice and local ingredients used (the sausages were excellent!!). My only minor gripe would concern the wifi arrangements. We qualified for free wifi and had the details explained on how to achieve this, being told that we could only have two devices connected at any one time (which is what the explanatory leaflet confirms). However, this is NOT the case. It is the FIRST TWO devices that you connect that has the free wifi. This may seem 'picky' but we tested the connection via our i-phones and then could not get a connection on our laptops or tablets. As the wifi is managed via a third-party the only thing reception could do was to give us a temporary voucher to connect via a different means plus I had to ring the third-party to sort out the problem on a more permanent basis. So other Users beware, connect to the wifi with the TWO devices you actually wish to use. Apart from this it was a great two days and the staff were excellent. January 3, 2014
