Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BigboyMike Short Stay
I had a great stay, quality of the room was great, mattress was amazing.
I wouldn't recommend eating in the evening, food is very expensive and terrible, bar and Indian restaurant is below average and the worst service ever.
Breakfast is great you can't go wrong there and loved the overall stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by EMH10 New Crowne Plaza style room
Stayed in a newly refurbished Crowne Plaza room. Refurbishment and decor was good, styling modern, but room was cramped particularly around the desk / seating area. Wardrobe also very small, if you were staying more than a couple of days then this would be completely inadequate.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nonanonanona Refurbished room
Our room on the 7th floor had recently been refurbished and was excellent. But our friends were on the second floor and it was very tired and awful smell of cigarette smoke especially in corridor. Felt slightly embarrassed as they were there five nights all the way from Australia and we were only two nights. Staff were very good and pleasant, and breakfast was good but bit of a tight squeeze in the corner of the restaurant where one of the toasting machines is. not in the best of streets but it was OK and we walked everywhere though wouldn't have been so good if wet.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JoLou32 A great value hotel with excellent service
We had to book somewhere at short notice to attend a funeral and after searching Super Break this seemed good value as the price quoted dinner on our first evening. From Kings Cross it is quite a walk and as it was in the middle of a heat wave and an industrial strike by tube drivers the roads were clogged with traffic so our walk was not exactly easy. However the hotel foyer looked very nice and the receptionists were helpful and friendly. My husband has very sensitive hearing so I always request a quiet room away from traffic noise and our room was at the back where we had a view over houses, a children's play area and the amazing London skyline. We heard not a peep all night so were delighted. I was disappointed not to have a shower cap provided and the bathroom was on the small side but otherwise had everything we needed. The bedroom was a good size with a sofa for my husband to watch the Tour de France on the excellent TV. Our 'free' dinner was surprisingly good and the Maître d', a very pleasant young English man, was a delight. Breakfast was served from 6.30 and was adequate, with full English or cereals and fruit and a variety of breads to choose from. There was some ham and cheese but for me the quality was basic, though I must say at the price for central London I am really being picky!! All self service and very efficiently run by the many serving staff. Tables were cleared at great speed and the turnover of guests was amazing, especially on the Saturday. On leaving it took less than a minute for a taxi to arrive for us after the receptionist phoned. My only annoyance was the Wi-Fi which was charged at £4.95 an hour!! I queried this at reception and after giving my e mail address was given a code to use it free of charge. However I believe in this day and age it should be automatically available free of charge to all guests.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tom01 All round a Good Hotel and all staff were very helpful
We have stayed at this hotel on about four or five previous occassions. And in general have always been very pleased with our stay at the hotel. What made it better this time was that the guest rooms are being updated and are now much improved from our previous stays. The rooms were getting very tired looking and a little dated.
I hope the bar and reception will also be included in the update

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brightlybob Holiday Inn upgrading to Crowne Plaza
This Holiday Inn is in the process of upgrading to a Crowne Plaza,. I chose to stay on points rather than the cash rate as it was very expensive, but that is the way with all London hotels in the middle of the week.
The revamped rooms are still small but very well thought out, save for the lack of anywhere to hang towels. The showers. Are big, powerful and hot. The bed comfy and the room very well redecorated. The limited space is thoughtfully utilised and certainly very good for a few days stay. Right now, pay HI rates (or points) and end up in a Crowne Plaza room. Nice!!
