Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and great service I recently stayed at this property on my way to North Dakota and found the entire staff here to be very nice and friendly. I was upgraded into a really nice suite and my stay there was most enjoyable. The restaurant / bar was also a big plus since after traveling all day I did not have to venture far to have a nice meal and drink to relax. I will definitely come back to this hotel and recommend it to everyone passing through the Spearfish area. December 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Some issues... People should've been given a discount for the pool not being heated. It was ridiculously cold. The maintenance men were absolutely THE BEST in the entire facility as far as customer service goes! Upon check in, I found a note from Dustie the housekeeper and it said "I hope you have a great stay". Honestly, that note made my entire stay better in spite of the pool, as did the maintenance! Give your desk staff the empowerment needed and authority necessary to discount when something major like the pool doesn't heat #there were birthday parties EVERYWHERE and people book poolside rooms because they are utilizing the pool#. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the renovations We are return customers of the Holiday Inn Spearfish due to having family in the area. The last time we stayed, renovations were in process and we were happy to find the results with this stay. We were treated kindly and efficiently at check-in as expected as Platinum level Rewards Club members and were upgraded to a suite as well as offered our "rewards perks." The suite was huge with a separate bedroom. It smelled fresh and was newly updated with new carpet, wall covering, furniture, and decorations. The mattress/bed may have been new as well and was very comfortable. The lighting in the room was wonderful and much better than most hotel rooms. The room was quiet. There was a college football team staying on our floor and we didn't hear a peep. The only downside I can think of on the room is that the bathroom is a little small. However, we do like having the sink and mirror outside of the actual shower room. We did not use the pool area/hot tub this time. But this property has one of the good old fashioned large pool areas with room to spread out and maybe have a little gathering. (Much better than the little chlorine saturated closed in rooms most places have now.) There is a pool table and other arcade games and two hot tubs. We did have a drink in the Lucky 13 lounge and had lunch there as well. This is a nice restaurant with a sports bar/lounge attached. Very good food with generous portions and great service and also great popcorn! No continental breakfast at this hotel, but I believe you can get a rate with breakfast included if you want. We did not need that this time. Hotel is located right next to a couple of other restaurants and some shopping as well. Highly recommend staying here and will stay here again. November 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service As a frequent business traveler, I'm always pleased when an IHG property recognizes me as a Platinum member and I get the upgrade that is supposed to come along with it. Some properties don't make this a priority. I got a very nice two-room king suite. It's obvious this property is still remodeling - my room had a new bed and furniture but some bare walls. The property's layout is odd, with one poorly located elevator, and the pool area is rather dark and depressing. I'm sure those updates will come with time. Appreciated the creativity in the restaurant menu - more lower fat and veggie choices would be nice as well. Overall had a very nice business stay and will definitely consider staying again next time I'm working in the Hills. November 10, 2014
