Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Must Have Been Having a Bad Day! As an IHG Gold member, I usually stay at Holiday Inn Express to get my points. I have stayed at this hotel before with minimal problems but this was a different experience. I went up to the counter to check in and my reservation was cancelled out the same morning? This caused some confusion at the desk as to why it happened and it was almost like they were blaming me about it. With this extra time expended trying to straighten it out, I had to call my friends up and tell them I could not make our foursome at the golf course. Anyway, we were very fortunate to get a replacement room. However, the room had a VERY squeaky hinge that was so loud I called Housekeeping the minute I walked in because I would have been embarrassed to open and close the door late in the evening and wake others around me. It was REALLY loud. Somebody came by and sprayed it down but it didn't really do anything. They said they would have Maintenance come by the next morning and straighten it out. Nobody ever showed to fix it so we had to use the door as it was. We went to the Scottish Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain and returned to find that nobody had cleaned our room and I had to go downstairs and get us some towels. I noticed we never got our usual "Welcome Package" of water and goodies either which I have kind of gotten accustomed to. This was not my usual experience at Holiday Inn Express...........there were actually more things that happened too but I won't go into it. July 15, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BEDS ARE HORIBLE I booked 3 rooms and in two rooms people slept on the floor due to the horrible beds. I have stayed a HIE many times and this is the worst I have ever tried to sleep in! July 15, 2014

Someone had spilled something in elevator lobby and floors were sticky both evening and next morning. Elevators extremely difficult to navigate on checkout Sunday morning due to location and crowd.......! Hotel staff and breakfast great......! July 9, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel, but not at 100% occupancy To be fair, my stay was during the July 4th holiday when we were moving our daughter to the Boone area, so I'm sure the hotel would usually meet or exceed the usually HIE standards...but not during my stay. The bed was sagging, the breakfast area was so over crowded we had to go our for breakfast because the hotel could not keep enough food out for the number of guests. It was also difficult for staff to keep common areas clean. Although this stay was rough, I would return as I'm sure this was a most unusually situation. But I think I'll steer clear during App State football games! July 9, 2014
