The hotel was clean and inviting. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

Overall my experiences so far is very satisfying. Especially since there was someone in the reception to check in when it was 3 in the morning. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathrooms and most importantly friendly and helpful staff members!
If I had to say anything bad, it would be because there is no free wifi.

The hotel is in a nice peaceful location, however, to far by foot either to the city center or to "Marmaid quay". Meaning the location is not a good choice if you are in Cardiff for sightseeing and wants to do it on foot instead by car. Secondly: the rooms need some refreshment/modernisation, especially the windows in the hotel rooms. They cannot be opened, so if you want some fresh air - it's impossible. The breakfast is bellow average (the scrambled eggs and the sausage where cooked hours earlier; no fresh fruit, no cheese or meet/salami platter).
All in all: I expected from Holiday in Express a higher standard and was a litlle bit disapointed.
The positive side is the very friendly and helpfull staff!
During my visit in the UK I had also the opurtunity to stay in three different hotels of a major UK low price hotel chain, sorry to say, but they where better then the "Cardiff Bay".

Our second stay at this hotel and again we found clean rooms and friendly and attentive staff at reception and at breakfast where food was replenished and tables cleared promptly by the staff. The only issue we had was not with the hotel but the people who stay there and eat junk food in the car park and throw their rubbish on the floor. It is unsightly and off putting when arriving. Fortunately it was cleared up by staff in the morning as we left. It might be an idea to put litter bins in the car park by the entrance and hope the pigs who do the littering put their rubbish in them. Otherwise a very pleasant stay. We wouldn't let this put us off staying again in the future.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last few years whilst on business in Cardiff and have always found the staff friendly and helpful and hotel ideal for my needs. The hotel services (TV, broadband etc) are fine and the breakfast selection is ok - typical for the Express chain. The car park is large and secure and the hotel is ideally situated for evenings/meals at The Bay - it's around a 10-15 minute stroll. The beds and rooms are comfortable. and many give a lovely view over Atlantic Wharf.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. It would be a great advantage, however, if there was a simple evening menu available. Having no food meant no atmosphere in the Hotel in the evening as it was empty. But we will be returning.
