Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Comfortable Room Room was very clean and comfortable. The AC/heater was a little finicky, but considering the weather this time year it wasn't anything that was uncomfortable. The shampoo/conditioner was not in the bathroom at check-in, but the friendly helpful staff got me some when needed. The breakfast was ok. The quality and temperature of the hot food was acceptable, although on more than one occasion the biscuits were hard and dried out. The selection of fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt was good. All in all my stay was a positive experience, I would stay there again and recommend this hotel to others who needed to stay in the Carson City area. February 23, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Twilight Zone I stay in a Holiday Inn Express every month in various states so I consider myself an expert on their branding and quality of service. This particular location was odd compared to the other locations for several reasons. First, they gave me a room to go to and after hauling all my stuff to it, found the bed wasn't made and room wasn't ready. I lugged my things back down to the front desk and told her. She said that the housekeeper should be back soon to finish it and that I could store my things inside. I opted for a different room instead. After being inside my room about an hour, someone was trying to open the door, without announcing who they were. I always put the door lock across so they couldn't get inside, but I had no idea who would just try to walk in. About an hour later, I opened the door to see the housekeeper in the hallway and asked if she was trying to get inside. She said yes and asked if I needed any towels. I explained that I had just checked in so there was no need. I asked the front desk for ideas of restaurants and she gave me two five dollar off coupons for a restaurant down the street. I asked her if she had eaten there and what she ordered that she liked. Once I arrived at the restaurant, I ordered that same item as well as one other item. It was about the worst food I have ever had-not the front desk lady's fault, but they shouldn't be recommending that place! I asked if there were more cookies coming after the first tray was empty and the front desk lady assured me she was making more and it would be about 10 minutes. Since dinner was a flop, I decided it was worth waiting for. I waited in the lobby just beyond the front desk where the same woman got on the phone and talked to her family for 20 minutes about homework, teachers, etc. I finally stood up and looked at her and she hung up and went to get the cookies. The next morning for breakfast, the pancake machine wasn't set up so I asked the woman working if she was going to have them available today. She opened then shut the top part and walked away. I had to open it up and figure out how to get it to the setting needed to get it going. It wanted to know if there was a full bag or partial bag of mix inside. Just strange because they usually have very capable people working the breakfast shift and on top of things. I had to ask her to put out the half and half too. She spent most of her time putting the plastic spoons and forks into the container-without gloves on-good thing I'm not a germaphobe! A second time on the next day, housekeeping tried to open the door without announcing or knocking! Good thing I had the lock on again because she would have seen me in my birthday suit. I don't understand that at all. On the third day (check out) at 10am, she did it again, but this time at least knocked. I opened the door and she asked if I was checking out today-yes, but not until check out time I told her. The hotel was virtually empty so it wasn't like they had to hurry to get rooms flipped. As a Platinum member, I also get 2pm check out if I want. I ended up leaving early for my flight. Lastly, twice I went to get into my room and the door wouldn't open. Not because the key wouldn't work but because the door lock wouldn't close all the way. It took about 15 minutes to figure out that slamming myself against the door would loosen it enough for me to open it all the way. Too strange all around. Any one of these things by themselves are no big deal, but when you put it all together, it was not their normal method of business. You may have better luck there than I did, so don't shy away from it as these are not huge infractions, just not as professional as I am used to. January 25, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay at great location close to Reno and Lake Tahoe at a great price We were late in making plans for late December holidays and decided to spend time in Lake Tahoe area. We were a total of 14 people and we could not find a place at a reasonable price to accommodate our whole group. I searched nearby areas and fortunately at Holiday Inn Express in Carson City they had 4 rooms available at a very reasonable rate. When I called the hotel to make my reservation the guy (Kris) gave me some discount without me asking for any discount as I booked multiple rooms. The stay at the hotel was very comfortable with a courteous staff, clean spacious rooms each with 2 queen size beds and a decent free breakfast. They have tea/coffee available 24/7 which is a bonus during winter time. Because the hotel is located close to Reno we had more options of visiting Reno as well as other Ski resorts in that area. We were glad that we stayed at this hotel and would like to come back at stay there again in near future.. January 4, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by had a great time we chose carson city to proximity of lake tahoe and are not disappointed. you have the restaurants and stores and tahoe only 20 minutes away. carson has a few better hotels and this is a great place to choose. if we come back to tahoe, we are staying again and my kids and i loved the fresh bake cookies in the evenings, i just wish they could mail me some!!!!
