I was caught in town as the result of a close relative's death and needed a room at the last minute. I was pleased with the concern expressed and promptness of the clerk when I when in to ask for a room. My night's sleep was not interrupted in any way. The tasty breakfast was really appreciated before a difficult day.

As a rewards member since 2007, I had the worst experience yet while staying at an IHG property from July 14-16th 2015. As I travel quite a bit for business, I look to hotels to provide me with most the creature comforts that I have at home. So much for home away from home creature comforts during my stay at the Concord, NC property recently. Although the property was clean and the rooms were well kept, there was no hot water or internet service for the two nights that I and my colleague stayed at the Concord, NC property.
I was not notified of these issues either day. No effort was made to place signage up or notify guests of these issues either. As guests, many of us at breakfast and at the reception hour were left discussing with each other if we had either hot water or internet. The answer was a resounding NO from each and every one of them. I expect a little more communication when these issues occur that may effect a guests stay. It at least let's us know that the property is aware and is trying to rectify the issue. It as well gives the guests the opportunity to consider other properties while this is being rectified.
As a person that is in sales and customer service for half my life, if we cannot communicate with our customers, we know that someone, a competitor, will. I was sorely disappointed with my stay and the lack of communication from the staff there. I will be sure to inquire about these amenities, features being fully functional before I stay at another IHG property. As it stands, we thankfully had a Starbucks across the street from the hotel to utilize the internet and do some work over the wifi/internet.

Staff was aware for several days that there was a hot water problem.
If we had been told of this problem we would not have stayed this trip
Do not think it was courteous to allow guests to stay overnight and then realize that they had to take a cold shower in the morning.
do not think a $10 reduction in price (it's not a cheap room) is adequate compensation for this inconvenience

I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and modern and comfortable this hotel was. I booked at the last minute to be near family, but I will definitely consider Holiday Inn Express on all my trips now.

The stay was lovely but as a rewards remember, I like the small things...they stopped giving the kids the HUGE cookies and the popcorn. My kids were so disappointed. They always look forward to it. I felt like just a regular customer.
