Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs refurbishing/Disappointed Unlike our previous stay, our room, while clean was disappointing for two reasons. Our room was directly above the breakfast area where the lights outside shown in our room despite the room darkening curtains. The bathtub looked particularly bad with missing soap holder and old yellowed bathtub. We went without Kleenex for two days, no face towels on day one and missing a towel. When I approached the night manager for all of the above (Ok, I complained) her response was that the cleaning staff was doing their best to catch up because of being full. I'm sorry, but that is NOT our problem. Our problem was standing in the shower, naked without a face cloth or not enough towels. As priority club holders we expected better accommodations and plenty of bath accessories. On the upside, the dark haired lady working in the breakfast area is a definite asset. Not only was she friendly and helpful, she went out of her way to make sure we were well taken care of and satisfied. I'm sorry, I didn't get her name. She should be commended. June 10, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A home away from home Stay here several weeks a year. The management and staff are very helpful, courteous and friendly. Have yet to experience any problems or issues. Would recommend anyone to stay here and I will continue to come back. Big perks are front desk personnel and kitchen staff. June 5, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, comfort, staff Our first time to stay at HIE in Cullman. Chose this hotel based on reviews I read---so many folks pleased on most aspects of their stay. This is a great hotel---the folks are friendly, and helpful. The linens and pillows were tops and Wanda in the breakfast room is a sweet heart---couldn't do enough to help us with actual hot food---most of these type breakfast offerings are mediocre at best. Wanda's management is exceptional, as are all of the staff. I highly recommend this hotel. May 7, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Air conditioning I have enjoyed staying in this hotel ever since it was built, years ago. The property has been maintained and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. However, when I stayed there last week, I spent 2 sleepless nights due to inadequate cooling in my room. The air conditioner stayed on all day and night but never got the room cold. I have to have the room cold in order to sleep and even though the air conditioner said it would get down as low as 60 degrees, it definitely did not get past 70, at best. I was on the first floor and the weather outside was not particularly hot. I stayed in another hotel the 3rd night and the air conditioner said 65 degrees and it was perfect. Slept great. Sure hope the air conditioning at the Holiday Inn in Cullman will improve with the summer heat coming on. May 7, 2013
