The church where I attend school recommended Holiday Inn Express from their website (only 10 minutes away) this is 100% better than the old hotel. I'm never booking with choice privileges again . I always have staff that say hello and welcome back before they look up my information. Rooms are comfortable and clean. I stay here at least 3 to 4 weeks every Fall and Spring. I always recommend this hotel to others looking to travel for business or leisure in this area. November 11, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What started off OK, ended TERRIBLE! We choose this hotel based on price, parking and proximity to Downtown Chicago. We checked in the night before I was to a run a big race in downtown Chicago the next morning. I needed to be at the before 6 am the day before. I spoke with the front desk clerk the evening before regarding breakfast, and she was very nice, and allowed me to obtain some breakfast items the night before. I was also told me it wouldn't be a problem to get some of the earlier dry goods put out before the official 6 am breakfast start which we did. The day following the race, we we're able to relax a bit more, and went to breakfast around 8 am. The staff member running the breakfast area was TERRIBLE RUDE. I asked for pancake syrup as there was none on the buffet, and was treated like a common criminal (she took it from a drawer, and took quite a bit of time assembling them on the plate before she actually HANDED me one). A discarded pancake and spare plate were left by the pancake maker by another person, and while I was waiting for syrup, she verbally confronted me in a hateful tone regarding these items, blaming me. The staff member then proceeded to walk off, and out loud make mention of me and my spouse, and our "taking things" the day before to another guest or staff member (we we're not sure which) in regards to me picking up a few items to eat before the race that were already on the buffet. My spouse later went to her, and politely tried to say "Good Morning" to which she simply glared at him and walked off. As we left the breakfast area, I told her "Thank You" and was as polite as I could be despite being obvoiusly shaken by her tone and demeanor. I was rewarded with a simple grunt as she rolled her eyes and walked away. We understand people have bad days, but this staff member OBVIOUSLY had a problem, as she was friendly and cordial to other guests in the breakfast area. Our room was comfortable, but the bench in front of the closet, and the chair were stained and dirty, there was also some type of slimy substance smeared on the alarm clock and a used feminine napkin behind the bedside table (I had pulled the bedside table out to plug in my laptop). The bathrooms, and bedding we're clean and we did enjoy the pool area following the race. The front desk staff we're very helpful and kind, but we feel the lady responsible for the breakfast area should be reprimanded for her horrible attitude and treatment of customers. We're sorry to say we will never return to this location nor recommend it to anyone. We are Priority Club members, and never ONCE have we ever been treated so poorly at one of this chains locations. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Geat place but aviod pool Everything was rather good about this stay, however I would have enjoyed it so much more if I could have spent more time in the pool area. I could not enjoy or relax because the smell was so strong of chlorine. When I got into the hot tub my eyes were burning. My husband liked the breakfast and the staff was friendly. Honestly we could have stayed some where else for free, but we wanted to enjoy the hot tub for health reasons. so I was disappointed. November 11, 2014
