We took a family vacation to the beach and were very satisfied with our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They were very hospitable and gave a warm greeting wherever you happened to meet a staff member, whether inside or outside, and whether day or night.
The room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was perfect and we slept great every night. We did have some problems with the electrical outlets, but that is a small problem that won't affect my future plans to return to this hotel.
We had a great vacation. It was exactly what we hoped it would be, due in large part because of our satisfaction with the Holiday Inn Express.

High price, terrible Internet, attentive staff and towels that are sometimes grey and not white.
Rooms are musty but generally clean - perhaps tile in the room instead of carpet would pay dividends.
Excellent atmosphere, very family friendly and amazing fishtanks.

Nice staff, pool, beach and hotel. Like most places down there, you will end up driving to get lunch and dinner, but there are plenty of options all around and the hotel is located in an area that is full of options but not much traffic

The hotel was great! The staff was friendly and service was exceptional. We enjoyed the 2 queen- bed room and it had a great shower! The 2 pools were open 24/7 and loved having a snack/drink bar outside near the pool. The hotel was right on the beach and the walk to it was short. Enjoyed our 3 night stay here very much!!!

I travel a great deal for business and have been an IHG member for many years. This was by far the worst run IHG property I have ever stayed at, and for a vacation resort property in one word? Horrible.
We checked in around 6pm on our arrival date. Only 1 front desk staff was working to check in guests. So much for gold and platinum guest check in. Once we waited in line we were given our room keys on the first floor. When we arrived at the door the maintenance man stepped in front of us to enter the room. He asked if this was our room, to which we replied of course. He said the room was on a maintenance hold and was not to be used. My wife went in and the air conditioner was leaking all over the carpet and he was trying to dry the place out. My wife waited in the hall with our bags while I went back up to re-check in. Total time dealing with the front desk was almost an hour. For my "inconvenience" I was told I would be given 1000 bonus points, which I never got.
One person on a Saturday working the front desk?? At a destination hotel?? Unbelievable.
When we arrived in our second room in was hardly adequate to be called a king suite. Burned out light bulb by the bed, mismatched plastic patio furniture with a 3 legged chair. The ceiling was covered in dust bunnies from the AC.
Each time the room was cleaned on 3 of the 4 nights I had to go get bath towels as since we not left any. We even made sure the towels didn't go to the pool or beach yet still I had to go get towels each day.
Breakfast the next morning was a train wreck. Two - six pot coffee stations with only 1 regular pot of coffee between them at 8am?? Looked like a housekeeper was helping someone get things going as the one breakfast attendant seemed lost. Same breakfast choices everyday and no eggs at all until day 4. WAY too small of a seating area for a destination hotel on the beach.
Open access WiFi so there was no password required. This is the first IHG property I have stayed at that has ever done this. This meant everyone in the building or within a block could use the access for free. And clearly everyone was because we could never get the internet to move past a slow dead crawl. So we had to pay for data through our carrier when it should have been free in the hotel.
Orange Beach was a great spot for a family vacation. But if you are going there are dozens of better places to stay than this. In 4 days I never once saw a member of management. This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed, much less a Holiday Inn Express. And to think I saved up points to stay here - poor choice. My in-laws stayed a mile down the road, next time I will stay there.
