Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet hotel and excellent staff. This is a great hotel for a family vacation. It is just a 10 minute walk to pier 39 and is surrounded by restaurants and things to do. We used public transportation (get a muni pass...so worth it) and were able to catch the bus or a trolley within blocks of the hotel. We were happy with the rooms and the breakfast. There were plenty of choices each day...eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, cereal, bagels and bananas. The front desk and cleaning staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. We would definitely stay here again. March 17, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Computer issue There was no wi-fi in the room. I was able to log on in the loby, but it was inconvenient. All in all the hotel was well located to be able to tour and get around in San Francisco. The staff was excellent. This is something that always colors a hotel stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfy beds & clean rooms The beds were comfortable & the rooms were clean. As usual I got a room that overlooked the roof. You would think that as a priority member I could get a room with a view other than a roof. I didn't have a reservation & when I was checking in the clerk told me that if I wanted to go check online to see if there was a better rate I could. Didn't seem to want to be bothered to see if there was a better rate. The breakfast was just ok. The 1st morning I got a milk out of the case & it was totally curdled. I was told by the attendant that they had been having trouble with that case keeping things cold. I got my milk out of the other case after that. The last day we went out to breakfast for some variety. The price of the room was good for the location but I think that $45. per night for parking is a little extravagant. That was a 1/3 of the cost of the room. March 11, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for short business trip Chosen due to proximity to Fisherman's Wharf. Hotel reception was very good, with everything processed quickly. Advised that wifi only worked in public areas, but found that I had excellent signal in my room (212#. Room was comfortable with everything working well. Breakfast was excellent, with great choice, and good quality throughout. Hotel location was as expected, a short walk from the waterfront and in a relatively safe area. With two other hotels nearby there were always cabs available. I used the Embarcadero station which is 5 mins away by cab #$10# and the Bart which was a quick and cheap #$8) ride to the airport for my meetings. Will certainly use again when next I visit San Francisco. Only noticable downside was the lack of a hotel bar, although there is a bar/restaurant directly across the street. March 8, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value, quiet, clean and close to transportation We just spent a week at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a mini suite and it was very nice to have a sofa to sit on during our stay. This hotel is VERY quitet, much more so than the Holiday Inn next door. The only thing that wasn't great was the laundry. It's next door the Holiday Inn, in the parking garage and the machines are worn. Having said that, at least it was next door and not further. Safeway, Trader Joe's and Walgreens were all in walking distance as well as many good restaurants. Walk to cable car, street car and muni bus. February 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Rocks the Wharf. The hotel location was ideal for us. On the F Cable Car Line, which was easy access from BART. Hopped the F to Market then went throughout the city. Walking distance to excellent places to dine. Love SCOMA's--- awesome dining. True dining. Walgreens across the street for items we left behind and/or needed--- 24 Denny's less than 100 feet away. Rooms nice... clean... wireless internet speed was fast. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bathroom Have been using this hotel for a number of years. Always like it in part because it is kept clean. Noted the bath tub in my room was cracked (repaired). Hate to see things get a little worn and torn. Believe the overnight charge for a car is a little pricey. February 18, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay, nice and clean stayed 2 nights. check in was fast. hotel rooms are a very nice size, along with the bathroom.very clean. staff was very nice and helpful. free wi-fi in the lobby only( don't understand why it is not also in the room) wired internet in the room. 1 thing that i was very disappointed that there was no 24 hr coffee in the lobby.every hotel that i have been to on this scale has coffee in the lobby 24hrs. seems cheep on holiday inn express part! all in all it was a nice stay, great location. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Staff - Great Location What a fantastic staff at this hotel - everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. The large rooms were very clean, as was the entire property. Kudos to the management those things always come from the top down. One of our party is allergic to gluten, so when we asked one of the breakfast restaurant staff if they knew anything about the omelet being gluten free or not, they said they were not sure, but they would find out for us - in less than 5 minutes, one of the kitchen staff came out with a label from the omelet mixture bag, that had been cut out and cleaned before presenting it to us - wow - Now thats what I call over the top service. The location of the hotel couldn't be better - only 1/2 block to public transportation - and San Francisco offers an unlimited public transportation pass for only $7 a day! And that includes the cable cars, which charge $6 for a one way trip - so my advice is to buy the Muni Pass and stay at this Holiday Inn. BTW - its only 1 block to a well stocked Walgreens too. Our room was always very clean each day. We picked this hotel because of the location and found it to be very accomodating. The people at the front desk were always willing to answer any questions that we had. They were extremely helpful. An especially nice extra was to have the complimentary breakfast. We could eat and then go do our sightseeing. The lobby and entryways to the rooms were always very clean. All in all we had a wonderful experience in San Francisco. February 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent front staff When we checked in we needed to switch our room because we wanted to have a view from our window. I am not used to deal with those things since my husband usually takes care of them. Anyway, I wasn't sure if they would accept our request since there was nothing wrong with our room we just prefered to have a better view. When I called the front desk the staff was very kind and assured that she will find a room in the morning. And the next day the there was a different person at the desk but she knew about our request and helped us in the morning and we had a new room with a great view. Every time we asked little questions about the area or anything we needed, they were so helpful. EVERY STAFF was very friendly and helpful. I was very happy that my mom and I chose this hotel! I went down, and the desk attendant was apologetic and remedied the situation. The next room was not what we wanted, so I asked if we could try again. We did, and the solution worked well. The desk clerk was great in spite of the challenges. Breakfast was underwhelming, but overall it was a favorable experience. January 26, 2013

We have been doing these getaways at this hotel since right after 9/11 when hotels were reeling due to a drop in travel. We find this hotel by the Bay conveniently located for our long city walks as a base from which to operate. The staff is always extremely friendly to us and our small children and makes us immediately feel at home. The breakfast is more then adequate and the kitchen staff are amazing in the way they are able to keep the food stocked in what is usually a mad scramble to eat by almost everyone at once. I absolutely love how they have decorated the place and it has a very upscale feel w/o the price or an elitist feel which I detest. January 26, 2013

Excellent location right beside the Holiday Inn so careful to confirm which location. Room and service are as expected from the chain. Comfortable, quiet, clean, good breakfast options, efficient staff. Breakfast was very crowded so the room may not be quite big enough for this size property. There are two major negatives. Parking was $51 a night which makes it unaffordable for us to return there with a car. We also were shocked that even in 2013 they do not have wireless in the guest rooms! January 24, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Overrated Slammed with extra parking fee. Poorly reconditioned rooms. Front desk slow to respond to people, busy chatting with others instead and everything seemed dirty. I have stayed in holiday inn's all over the USA and Canada but this one is without a doubt the worst. Sorry, but I am a platinum member with Priority Club and will not be staying at this particular hotel location ever again. January 24, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Our Initial stay. A rainy Saturday afternoon when we arrived at the hotel via Berkeley. Valet Parking only for 45USD for convenience, although a block away is a public parking. Due to the hotel's position there is no bay view. Front service hand me down some very essential maps. Room was presentable and very conducive to resting although the TV set needs upgrade. Restroom is clean although shower pressure can't be shared. Overall it is an excellent hotel due to service, location and the buffet breakfast. I won't get tired of this hotel. January 21, 2013
