Customer service and facilities are inconsistent with what I've come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. As a frequent traveler and Gold Elite member, I have stayed at HIE in multiple locations around the country. I have found the following to be inconsistent with other HIE locations:
Gold Elite Benefits not offered consistency. I.e. no water or snack offered at check-in, room upgrade automatically first week but second week that did not happen (Ag Expo was going on first week and low occupancy the second week, so I don't understand).
Requested email copy of hotel bill but never received.
Coffee pots in lobby area empty every day and frequently, there was limited amount of coffee available in breakfast area; breakfast selections inferior compared to other HIE; breakfast hostess chatting with front desk clerk, sitting at a table doing some kind of paperwork (crossword puzzle?) or chatting with guests while other guests are trying to grab a quick breakfast and leave.
Not enough electrical outlets where most needed - coffee pot, microwave and fridge all use same wall outlet alarm clock and light behind bedside table share same wall outlet so phone charger must be plugged in at another outlet (I like to charge my phone overnight and keep it near the bed)
Shower valve not working properly; turned on and can't adjust water temperature (very hot). Instead, when adjusting temperature, the water pressure changes. Eventually resolves itself, but took about 10 minutes... not good.
These are all things that could be easily improved with better management.

The front desk staff were sooo friendly and helpful in locating good local restaurant selections. The ceilings in our room were extremely high and it took a really long time to cool the room, but after that it was very pleasant. Our room was really clean and a had a very pleasing appearance. Will stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Awesome staff - very friendly and accommodating - this part of the review is very irritating it should be an option, not a requirement, especially the 50 word minimum

the room was dark, not enough lighting, not enough electrical receptacles to recharge devices (phone, camera, etc.), desk chair inoperative. the bathroom was small and old fixtures.

Short and too the point. Frequent business traveler and always stays at HIE. Work HIE by far...wifi is almost non existent. So bad that no work can get done in my room. Breakfast host is a joke. No gravy (four slots for hot items and 3 are filled). Eggs are not edible. Bread was stale. She spends more time chatting than working. Coffee was hot and good. Other than mentioning my status at check in there was no water or snack offered. I wanted to ask, so what does that mean? With several weeks left on my stay I am looking at other options as I don't know that I can be productive at this HIE. Highly disappointed.
