I don't want to start by stating my travel experiences or else but as a Platinum member you can imagine the number of hotel nights i use every year at IHG or other hotel chain. I understand that the free room by point system is not very welcomed by hotel mangers and we always get a run of the house room without any smile or thank you from the hotel management but at least treat your member with some respect. By respect i mean giving us a decent bed to sleep on at least. we don't want any upgrade we can afford it. the bed in room G02 was the worst i ever seen in my live, the bed had no support, box spring wasn't holding anything, it felt like a water bed. we stay at hotels to relax and sleep after long flights not to wake up with a back pain. I let go of Platinum Ambassador member status recently and i believe this experience will make me let go of the rest of the group.

2 Tage zuvor war ich im Holiday Inn in Berlin Schönefeld das Frühstück muss man bezahlen dafür ist es dort Klasse auch die Zimmer kein Vergleich mit Zürich, dort hat man das Gefühl man sitzt
in einer Kantine !!!!

The only negative point is that don't have WiFi. It is essential while one is on a business travel.

This is a convientient location to stay; about 5.5 km drive from the Zurich airport and a 5 minute walk away from the Rumlang train stop (Zurich train system). Despite being close to the airport, airplane noise is not an issue. I don't remember hearing plane noise at all.
The desk is good size and well illuminated.
Be aware that this hotel charges a 19 Swiss Frank/day car parking fee.

The rooms are nice enough, but the breakfast buffet is rudimentary and the lobby has all the charm and grace of a railway station waiting room. The reception staff are not up to the job and would need some help to say the least. Watch out for the shuttle driver who leaves promptly on the dot (according to *his* watch!) even though you've "booked" a shuttle at the reception and are lugging your suitcases yourself (no porter service, of course). This will set you back EUR30 for a taxi to the airport.

I spent 25 nights at this property - easily long enough to experience the good and the bad. The location near the airport is an obvious benefit, but there is also easy access to the train station and a quick 15 minute ride to the Zurich HB. Given the relatively low cost (by Swiss standards) this is not a bad choice if you want to spend a few days for excursions in and around Zurich. There are walking/biking/roller blading trails very close by. There are Aldi and Migros markets a short walk down the street, along with a liquor store and a Subway sandwich shop. There is a McDonalds just a bit further down on the opposite side of the road - I never went there but if you have restless kiddies that might be a welcome option.
The morning breakfast buffet is enjoyable, but be aware that it can get crowded on some days depending on tour groups that frequent this property. The breakfast hours generously span 4am to 10am. The dinner menu is limited but the food is satisfying and the portions are large. I can recommend the pizza, which is plenty big enough for two people to share.
The rooms are comfortable, but don't expect American-style amenities. There is no clock radio, for example. Tip: You need to put your room key card into the holder by the door to turn on the power. The A/C works but you can only adjust the temperature within a set range. The real drawback is during humid weather, or after a hot shower, you can't use the A/C to dehumidify effectively. I found that the bed with a heavy duvet and some sort of rubberized mattress pad sleeps hot, and I could never get the room cool enough to make it consistently comfortable. Your experience may vary on that point.
If you are renting a car during your visit don't overlook the option of room rates including the parking fee. I shopped around on this point and found that it's a very good deal compared to similar properties.
Now for the bad - there were a couple of issues that you likely won't experience in a typical visit. My long stay apparently caused my outstanding bill to exceed some limit, and the hotel locked me out of my room and the front desk person was nothing short of rude in demanding that I pay the bill. I was entirely put off by the manner such a simple issue was handled. In addition to that, I paid for the Super Speed Internet and it failed to work the last 10 days of my visit. The front desk acknowledged the problem and promised to refund the charges, but did not do so.
Tip: if you have work to do you DO need to pay for the higher speed internet. The free "high-speed" internet is not - it is almost unusable. If you think you will need working internet don't log into the free internet ever, at all, because if you do it becomes difficult or impossible to log into the paid working internet afterwards.
All considered, I was happy to have chosen the Holiday Inn Express at Zurich Airport and would not hesitate to visit again if my business brings me this way.
