Clean, quite, comfortable

The hotel appears newer...it has that new smell. The lobby and hallways are clean. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. No breakfast like other IHG properties but I knew that before I booked the hotel. I will be back.

Candlewood Suites in Brighton, Michigan: The Worst Experience I Have Had as an IHG Traveler

Do not use this property. I'm a regular IHG customer, at the Diamond Elite level, and I received the worst treatment at the hands of Jerry, their assistant manager. I was disturbed by noise from the room above mine, and he wouldn't call them to tell them I could hear them. The noise had started during quiet hours, but he didn't care-- he was adversarial and poor in communication skills, demonstrating a sheer disrespect for me as a professional (he referred to me as "doctor" with a sneer, ignored my status, and acted aggressively toward me, which made me fearful and angry); discrimination against me as an autistic adult (both misinterpreting my blunt tone and making me face an impossible situation, forcing too much noise on me, or getting angry because I had a simple, pleasant conversation with the hotel guest making the noise); and aggressively forcing me out of the hotel, with threats of arrest and using the intimidation of two police officers! That was humiliating and unnecessary, an expression of some weird power dynamic, in which he needed to feel superior and in charge. I had done nothing, broke no policy. I was calm and collected, and the police noted this in their report. I just stood my ground as a human being who did not want to be abused. I left the hotel, and I want my money and points back. I want an apology from the owner. I want that manager fired (I'd seen him in a previous visit roll his eyes over a different guest and say snide things about them. It had made me uncomfortable, but in that visit-- when the hotel's power kept going out-- he was more polite. But he has a duplicity that is unbecoming of someone in hospitality management.) In any case, the police informed me that he/this hotel regularly calls them for evictions and "putting on muscle". I'm a college teacher who was up at the hotel to go hiking, take in the Detroit Symphony. I've not been in trouble with the law, and certainly, I've never had any cause for eviction. I should never have been treated this way. The service was poor, the care was poor, management was poor, and my experience was traumatic. I do not recommend this property, and I am disappointed in IHG for not handling this case more directly, to date. Do not use this property, and to IHG: please vet your franchises more thoroughly. Thank you.

The Brighton Candle wood is a great place to stay. I’ll be there for the next 8 weeks. The staff is friendly and the gym is great for a hotel and the pool seems clean. The rooms are clean including the bathroom. Self serve laundry is available. Refrigerator in my Rooms have been clean and working. As were the dishes and small glass top range (no oven). Very nice for extended stays.

This has been my "go to" hotel of choice for the past several years. SUPER convenient location, close to several grocery stores and restaurants. The room is quiet and comfortable and always well stocked and clean. I love that the room is a bit more spacious than most average hotel rooms and that allows me enough room to host a few friends for dinner/cocktails. The full kitchen is a huge plus for me since I cook quit a few meals there during my stay. The bigger closet is also a plus for me since I generally hang about 40 pieces of clothing with plenty of room to spare. Lobby, pool area and pantry area are always spotless and smell GOOD!!! There are plenty of tasty snacks, treats and frozen meals stocked in the pantry as well as a good selection of beverages.

Nice property

The check in process was easy, with pre-registration available. Choice of floor was offered. Room was clean and comfortable, very little outside noise. Love the in-room kitchenette, very convenient. The area surrounding the hotel was very dog friendly, with disposal bags and basket for dog relief. The rooms are dog friendly, and I couldn't stay there if they weren't. Most of my stays involve dog shows. There is a pet fee, but affordable. I have stayed at this property before and will stay again if in that area. I didn't use the food pantry since I generally carry my own food, but it did look well stocked.

I prefer IHG hotels as they are consistently clean, comfortable accomodations, and provide professional attention to the details of my stay. I have enjoyed the IHG rewards program as it has saved me hundreds of dollars through the years. Holiday Inn Express is my favorite hotel and Candlewood Suites is my 2nd favorite hotel.

Medical stay

The stay was good. It stayed mostly quiet and the Hotel was kept clean. The hotel staff was friendly and responsive. First time at an extended stay and room was well equipped and everything worked as tie should. The bed was comfortable and room clean and functional. We did smell cigarette smoke when we turned our bathroom fan on and mentioned to the staff. It would be nice if the smokers were a distance form the entry doors so the smoke did not come back into the building. It was a 4 out of 5 stay and will stay there again.

Extra cleaning fee incurred due to an accident that was cleaned up. Staff did not call to question what happened and card on file was charged. Was told that it was policy to charge fee. Attempted to find policy regarding cleaning fee and was unable to find online. Was told that we signed policy upon check in. Policy was never verbalized to us prior to signing. Just was handed a pen and was told signature was needed for check in.

We were greeted warmly upon arrival and sincerely when we checked out. We loved the choice of sleeping with firm or soft pillows. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great with lots of shopping and food choices near by.
