(Posting for my brother, whose family stayed at this hotel with me at another unit)
My wife is from Kumming, and I have visited Kumming a few times in the past. This is my first time staying at

this hotel in this city, and I would rate this as one of my best hotel experiences ever -- not just in Kumming, but best compared to other hotel stays I've had in other countries.
For starters, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, being very professional in their attire and their communication. Seemingly everyone greets you with a smile when they pass you by. The floor manager -- I believe his name is Andy Xiao -- he was very friendly and personable, engaged with me in conversation about our vacation and local travel plans, and showed care for my family's daily plans, coordinating with his staff to meet our needs. I truly appreciated his efforts.
We had a shuttle bus driver who picked us up from the airport and took my family around for a couple of tour sites -- his name is Huang Yong; he greeted us by name daily and even had friendly conversations with my in-laws when they visited us at the hotel. It was nice to see this level of friendly engagement from the hotel staff -- makes the stay more personal.
I also met the lady who cleaned our room -- another friendly encounter (though I forgot her name). I thanked her because our rooms were clean and tidy every night when we returned from our outings. She even made towel animals and left friendly notes -- yet another personal touch my family appreciated.
The hotel also has a lounge for certain qualified members. My brother (who booked my rooms for me and my family) was an IHG member who qualified to be in that lounge. He took me for a visit and I was very impressed with the scenery, the setting, and the friendly service from the staff. The lounge is situated on the highest floor, with a balcony that offers a clear view of the famous West Mountain. Quite a sight!
Finally, I can't say enough good things about the restaurant and the staff -- it was truly excellent; and to me, one of the best features of this hotel. For breakfast, they offer both Western style food for my kids, and Eastern style for myself, my mom, and my brother. I especially loved the different varieties of noodles -- a specialty for Kumming. The staff took our room numbers only on the first day we visited for breakfast, and every day after that, they remembered us and simply greeted us with a friendly greeting, letting us know that they have our room numbers already. This personal touch is very much appreciated.
They also have seafood hot pot buffet dinner specials from Wednesday through Sunday. I tried it with my family on Wednesday and loved it so much that I invited my in-laws who live in Kumming to join us for a second feast on Saturday. My in-laws also really enjoyed the feast. I learned about the dinner specials from the restaurant manager -- 李敏 -- who greeted me and had conversations with me one morning as I was getting coffee -- again, another nice personal touch. She told me about all the dinner specials and various packages, and she helped me get a very good pricing package combination and seating location for my family with my in-laws for one of our dinners. Basically, she made me look very good with my in-laws, clearly, I really appreciate her for that (LOL). I thanked 李敏 for the experience I had with both the restaurant and the restaurant staff.
I take my family out for vacation annually, and I have stayed in many hotels over the past many years. This hotel is definitely one of the best -- for its personal touch, and for the friendly staff. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city of Kumming. [Weniger]
