Things to do
The Perfect Day

Morning

Start your day with a relaxing walk along the banks of the River Torrens, heading back to King William Street. Then take a tram from Rundle Mall or a short walk to the Adelaide Central Markets. Operating since 1869 and boasting over 80 stalls, the Central Markets are a fresh fruit and produce market open from Tuesday till Saturday with late night trading on Fridays. Vibrant with sounds, colours and wonderful aromas, the market is truly the heart and soul of Adelaide. Stop by Lucia’s, an institution in itself for breakfast and homemade Italian cooking. After breakfast, head towards Rundle Mall, which has over 700 retail stores and is the main shopping precinct in the city. Whilst in Rundle Mall, be sure to visit the Adelaide Arcade for its architectural brilliance and various specialty stores, gifts and souvenirs.

Afternoon

Next, take a stroll down the cultural boulevard of North Terrace with its wonderful architecture and see numerous attractions from Parliament House and the Government House to the War Memorial, and the State Library. Continuing on, you will find the South Australian Museum with one of the best collections of Australian Aboriginal arts and artefacts. Next door is the magnificent Art Gallery of South Australia which showcases the best display of Australian colonial art in the country as well as fine European and Asian collections. For lunch, 2KW Bar and Restaurant located on the corner of King William Street and North Terrace is an excellent place to nourish the body with fresh seasonal produce. Continue east and you will find Adelaide’s East End. Rundle Street, located between Frome Street and East Terrace, is great place to spend the afternoon. This precinct is a café district with many boutiques and local treasures. Around the corner, in Ebenezer Place, is a collection of small and quirky shops and cafés like Hey Jupiter as well as Midwest Trader, specialising in American vintage clothing and footwear.

Evening

For a perfect evening out in Adelaide, there are many options. Choose from memorable performances at the Festival Theatre, a sporting event at the historic Adelaide Oval or delectable fare in Adelaide’s Gouger Street with numerous restaurants and cafes offering a plethora of international flavours. Also, Press Food and Wine on Waymouth Street is a local favourite and a booking is essential. For a nightcap, Clever Little Tailor, a boutique bar on Peel Street, is very close to the hotel with a fine selection of spirits, craft beers and classic cocktails.

Adelaide is called the Festival State and we are proud of art and culture the city has to offer.Autumn (March to May) is a great time to visit Adelaide when the city becomes colourful and vibrant with various art and cultural events and festivals. The Adelaide Fringe Festival, world's second largest fringe festival along with WOMAD, World of Music, Art and Dance as well as Adelaide Festival takes place in March, with intenational artists from all over the world congregating in the city to showcase their talent.

  • Wine Regions

Adelaide is the wine capital of Australia. With a grape growing tradition going back to 1840s, South Australia is home to some of the world's oldest vineyards. Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and the world famous Barossa Valley are within an hour's drive from the hotel. Please see your concierge for personal recommendations and an itinerary for the day.

  • Giant Pandas

The Adelaide Zoo is home to two giant Pandas named Wang Wang and Funi, only Pandas in Southern Hemisphere. The best time to go and visit them is when the zoo opens in the morning as they are really active and often you will find them in a playful mood.

  • City of Churches

Adelaide is also known as the City of Churches. Churches boasting exquisite architectural designs abound in this beautiful city with the Holy Trinity Anglican Church being the oldest which was built in the year 1838.

  • Unique Grave

South Australia's first surveyor general Colonel William Light is buried in Light Square, beneath a theodolite-topped monument. The founder of Adelaide who planned the city with gridded streets and parklands is the only person legally buried within the square mile.
