InterContinental Porto - Palacio das Cardosas Bestemming

Rua de Santa Catarina is one of Porto’s best-known shopping streets, crossing the city centre with a lively mix of shops, cafés and historic façades. Part of the street is pedestrianised, making it easy to explore on foot. Café Majestic and Mercado do Bolhão are among the nearby highlights.

Het treinstation Sao Bento is een treinstation in Porto, Portugal, geopend in 1916. Het werd aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw gebouwd op de plek waar ooit het klooster van S. Benedictus van Weesgegroet stond. Vandaar de naam waarmee het station werd genoemd. De lobby is bedekt met twintigduizend tegels, historicus, schilder Jorge Colaco (1864-1942). Het is een van de meest opmerkelijke artistieke ondernemingen die het begin van de twintigste eeuw markeerden. Het gebouw is de architect Marques da Silva.

Casa da Musica werd opgericht ter gelegenheid van 2001, het jaar waarin Porto Culturele Hoofdstad van Europa was, en het is het eerste nieuwe gebouw in Portugal dat volledig gewijd is aan muziek - aan de presentatie en het publiek van muziek, aan muziekeducatie en het creëren van muziek. Het project kreeg vorm in 1999 nadat het Rem Koolhaas & Ellen van Loon - Office for Metropolitan Architecture de internationale architectuurwedstrijd had gewonnen. Casa da Musica is geopend op 15april 2005.

Het Palacio da Bolsa bevindt zich naast de Sint-Franciscuskerk van Porto, ooit onderdeel van het Sint-Franciscusklooster, gesticht in de 13e eeuw. In 1832 tijdens de oorlog verwoestte een brand de kloostergangen, waardoor de kerk werd gespaard. In 1841 schonk koningin Mary II de kloosterruïnes aan de kooplieden van de stad, die besloten de zetel van de handelsvereniging te bouwen. Het grootste deel van het paleis was voltooid in 1850, maar de inrichting van het interieur werd pas in 1910 voltooid en er waren veel verschillende kunstenaars bij betrokken

Café Majestic is one of Porto’s most historic cafés and a landmark of Rua de Santa Catarina. Opened in 1922, its Belle Époque interiors, ornate mirrors and carved woodwork preserve the atmosphere of the city’s early 20th-century café culture. It remains one of the best-known stops in downtown Porto.

Clérigos Tower is one of Porto’s most recognisable landmarks. Designed by Nicolau Nasoni in the 18th century, the Baroque tower rises above the historic centre and offers panoramic views over Porto and the Douro River. Visitors can climb its 240 steps for one of the city’s most distinctive viewpoints.

Livraria Lello is one of Porto’s best-known cultural landmarks, recognised for its neo-Gothic interior, stained glass and iconic central staircase. Open since 1906, the bookshop brings together architecture, literature and heritage in the historic centre, just a short walk from Clérigos Tower.

Estádio do Dragão is one of Porto’s major sports landmarks and the home stadium of FC Porto. Located in the eastern part of the city, it hosts Portuguese football matches, international fixtures and major European competitions. The stadium is also home to the FC Porto Museum, making it a key destination for football and sports fans visiting Porto.
