I dislike having to pay for parking and it should be noted that it is £10 for the night. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded on check in and I had a room at the rear of the hotel that was spacious and looked impressive. My concerns about the proximity to the dual carriageway and noise were unfounded.
There is a club lounge, but alcohol is only served between 6.30-8.30pm. I've not known restrictions in other CP hotels like this.
Anyway, it's a busy hotel due to the location near to Gatwick, but I had a very enjoyable stay due to the quality of the bedroom, a well appointed room with an extremely comfortable bed and there was even a tv in the bathroom!

Very nice hotel. The staff is very professional.
The club lounge offers canapés and drinks in the evening and served by attentive staff. The breakfast in the club lounge is ok; but could do better by more choice of hot items.
Enjoyed the pool and has aqua classes a few times a week.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by graraps The room was decent. Everything else wasn't.
- The person who checked me in was wearing a Trainee badge. He was dreadful. He gave me wrong information about breakfast timings, tried to charge me a higher rate than what was in my reservation, didn't apologise when I pointed it out, was so eager to add parking charges to my bill that he didn't even answer my repeated question as to whether he was going to charge me for it, instead getting defensive and fabricating a lie about doing it to save me from a '£100 fine' (under English law, only the state can issue fines, and it certainly doesn't tend to monitor hotel car parks), and even assigned me a twin room (a fantastic idea for anyone travelling on their own). Maybe the guy has the potential to actually become a good employee if given the right training, but if I were the manager who allowed him to come anywhere near customers, I would consider resigning.
- The room (006) was very spacious and relaxing, even if it was a bit time-consuming to get to. However, I did happen to see some rooms being cleaned in the morning, and they appeared to be a lot, A LOT smaller. Perhaps I was upgraded [without being told!] to something better than the bog-standard room that I had reserved.
- The waitress at breakfast was eager to inform me that I would have to pay an extra £1 if I wanted to drink espresso instead of filter coffee. I said it's OK (it isn't, but I didn't feel like complaining to her for what clearly was her manager's fault) and ordered a double espresso with a bit of froth on top (i.e. an espresso machiatto). After ignoring me for over ten minutes, she came over to ask me whether I would like tea or coffee!! I will admit I wasn't too discreet in reminding her that I had already ordered a coffee ten minutes previous. She did apologise (yay!), but then proceeded to bring me an espresso with no froth. Which I downed without making another complaint- as I had a meeting to go to.
- I think that the fact that a hotel charges its guests for parking while there is ample FREE on-street parking available 50 metres from the entrance. Ditch the silly pseudo'fines', and just charge those who want to leave their car there and fly from Gatwick to holidays lasting for days/weeks on end.
All in all, a poor experience. I am not in a rush to go back.

We had great service from all members of staff, they certainly went the extra mile on many occasions, and our requests were dealt with promptly and with a smile. The room was clean and comfortable.
We were long staying guests and the excellent service was consistent throughout our stay.

Stay was overall fairly good, but cooked breakfast was very poor, cheap ingredients and un-edible. Not worth the extra money.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 No wake up call - staff did not believe!
Stayed I room 541 & 534! Asked for a wake up call for room 534! This did not happen!!! But the computer said it was answered so we were not believed!! I tried calling the room myself & got a weird message! Asked them to go to room and call from front desk to check! They knew we had a plane to catch and not much time & did not go to check, so we were just not believed!! Not happy with the service or attitude of the service staff!! I am sure that subsequently they will have found that the phone does not work! But I doubt I will get a refund or apology of any sort!!
If we had not gone and knocked on the door we could well have missed our flight!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Saxscully Great Location and Great Value Stop Over
For a night's sleep prior to catching an early flight this place was great. Location was good and the price was superb for the quality of the hotel. I particularly enjoyed the pool.
Only slight downside was that my room was located next to the lifts, which dinged every time someone called them. I'm sure the friendly staff would have moved me if I had requested, but I was all ready settled by this time and didn't fancy packing again!
Overall though I would recommend this for an overnight stop.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lbeech Comfy bed, nice room and great service
As a family we have stayed in quite a few hotels before flying and this is the best we have stayed in. The reception staff are very efficient and friendly. First impressions of hotel are good, clean and modern entrance. Our room was lovely, we had two double beds which were very comfortable. Wake up call on request. Evening meal offered on arrival and served till 10 and bar snacks till 11 but we had room service as the boys wanted to go in the pool which they loved! Pool area clean and well managed. Jacuzzi and towels provided. Bar area was pleasant and my husband and I had a very nice glass of red wine whilst watching the boys in the pool. Very comfortable stay and would definitely go back. We have had problem after problem whilst we arrived in Marbella one being our case did not follow us on the plane and we did not get it until 4 days later and we are only here for a week! My eldest child said he would much rather be in the crowne plaza than in the villa we are in now - that says something eh! Well done crowne plaza, see you again next year :)

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by albert4 Good room but creaky bed
Our first experience of using a Gatwick hotel the night before a holiday. Strangely it was not easy to find although the web site directions seemed clear enough. We missed the correct roundabout, but found it when retracing steps. We were shocked to see a car park charge and relieved when we were not asked to pay it. The desk clerk was helpful and supportive, but the lift was small. The room was fine and so was the bathroom which together had all we wanted in the circumstances, but the bed creaked whenever one of us moved. The sheets, though, were lovely and soft. The early morning alarm worked well. We were annoyed when leaving quietly that the side door was locked; understandable, but the lad at the desk could have mentioned it as it's the obvious way to the car park.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by John495 Too hot
Booked a room as we had an early flight from Gatwick.
Very pleasant reception staff advised my wife and I we had been upgraded to a club room. Very nice spacious room with a big bed.
the problem was once in bed we found the room very hot and stuffy even with the air con. We opened the windows but had to close them again due to traffic noise.
we discovered the problem was the thick mattress topper which radiated heat. We were a lot more comfortable when we took that off the bed.
The end result was a poor nights sleep and therefore a complete waste of money. We would have been better off sleeping at home a getting a cab to the airport.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by KimR13 Lovely Club Room
While staying at the hotel to catch a very early flight the next day, I was happily surprised to find that my room was very comfortable and pleasant. the furnishings were very up-to-date. My favorite was the chair and ottoman which I moved to face the television. I got a glass of wine from the bar, retired to my room, and enjoyed a relaxing evening. I needed to leave the hotel at 4am and the staff had pre-arranged a car to pick me up to take me to Gatwick. I would definitely stay at this hotel if I needed to spend the night for Gatwick again.

I stayed here for two nights and was very impressed.
I was upgraded to an executive room which was lovely: very spacious, a great desk, good lighting, lots of plugs (including one by the bed) and extremely quiet. My only issue is that the duvet seemed much too long for its duvet case meaning the bottom third was uncovered. Although I don't have hang ups about other people's feet, it is questionably hygienic
The executive rooms are in their own section of the floor, behind a door which requires a keycard. It's a great idea as it minimises hall noise
The gym is decent by hotel standards with about 15 pieces of resistance equipment, good cardio machines and dumbbells. It's open until 10 every day (including weekends). They have outside members although -- I have to say -- I don't think the gym is that good and I'm sure it would feel crowded with more than seven or eight people in there. The pool looked nice
The staff were always friendly and the parking was commendably simple (it works on number plate recognition)
Overall, a great experience. I would definitely stay there again

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DSUK Wedding Anniversary Deflated
This has to be without doubt the worst Crowne Plaza I have ever used, and it failed to life up to the Crowne Plaza name and indeed my expectations.
The corridors were dark and dingy, the room cramped and very small.
The intention was to have a 31st wedding anniversary dinner prior to flying off on holiday, but in the event we hastened past the unappealing dining room and went to bed with a view to leaving as early as possible the next morning - the airport waiting lounge having far more appeal than this Crowne Plaza! In addition the a/c was either freezing or hot, and the pillow choice between flat or bulky, both offerings minute.
On the positive side, the staff were excellent. Bit this is the only positive. Next time I will certainly book elsewhere.

A nice hotel with excellent facilities. If staying only one night, get there early enough to enjoy the spa, pool and fitness facilities. If booking more than one room however, make sure you contact the hotel in advance if you want adjoining rooms or rooms close together as this is not automatically done.

I enjoyed my stay at Crown Plaza Gatwick. At check in I was recognised as a Platinum Member and automatically upgraded to a lovely Executive level, with private secure access and a very nice room together with free access to the Club Lounge.
Here Karina looked very well after all the guests, making sure we had plenty of snacks, drinks, etc.
I will most certainly use this hotel again, when in the area..

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Traveller856 One night stay
If it wasn't for the receptionist's attitude I would have scored higher. Receptionists must understand that when someone is travelling and check in so late a more "attentive" service should be provided, as guests like me would be tired and want to get to bed as quickly as possible

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Gemini123 Ok in the end, but room for improvement.
Our first room was at the end of the corridor and smelt of damp. There was hair on the carpet and one pillow case was stained. The sink was blocked so took ages to drain. Phoned reception and to be fair were moved very quickly. The second room was much better. The wi-fi is very poor. It either does't work or is painfully slow.
In summary, the staff are very friendly and we enjoyed the food, however the rest could be improved.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ian.K Exellent stop over hotel
Used the hotel the night before flying out to Turkey and also on return. Very close to Gatwick airport but no aircraft noise could be heard. Comfortable rooms and pleasant professional staff made this a relaxing stay. Bar prices a little steep, but Crawley leisure park is only 15 mins walk away and offers plenty of places if looking for somewhere to dine. Would I use this hotel again??....... MOST DEFINITELY!

Cannot fault reception staff who were so welcoming and reassuring that I would not hesitate to use this hotel again. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble and it looks as though staff training has been high on the agenda. If only all hotels gave such priority to their customers.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RareMagic Nice hotel for amenities, room was dated
The hotel has a great fitness suite and pool. Standard rooms are dated and the side of the hotel I stayed on was above the noisy air con units meaning windows had to be closed for any chance of sleep, also don't leave your empty clothes hangars in the wardrobe, 2 of mine disappeared during the day whilst I was out!
