Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Atmosphere and staff are just beautiful !! Every year I attend the APSE conference and every year the staff are helpful and accomodating. The location view and shopping are a plus May 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely the BEST!! We come to the Crowne Plaza Lake Placid each year for our APSE annual conference, and as always, we are never disappointed!!! The staff is fabulous, and the accommodations are terrific! We look forward to next year!!! May 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay My wife and I were there 40 years ago on our honey moon. So i wanted to recreat the moment. The staff made sure it was special, We had a great time. May 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Weekend I have fallen in love with Lake Placid and the Crowne Plaza made this visit the best yet. I spent three perfect days and nights in a wonderful suite (thanks for the amazing upgrade!) in the Adirondack wing. The suite was beautiful with a great layout. With the fireplace, the kitchen, the dining table, the jet tub, etc. the suite had everything I needed and more. The staff was friendly and helpful. That's for making my getaway weekend perfect! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT LAKE PLACID RESORT I stayed at the Crown Plaza for 3 nights (1-4APR13) with my father and 2 sons at this resort for a ski trip to Lake Placid late in the season. The staff kindly provided me with two connecting rooms (2 queen beds in each room) and 3 of 4 day lift tickets to Whiteface Mountain for 3 of us as part of the reservation package. My total price at check out was exactly what the staff had quoted me during the planning process - absolutely no hidden fees or gimmicks. The rooms and atmosphere at the resort were top-notch. We ate at the hotel restaurant only 1 night and, while the service was very slow, the food was very good. Even though some of the recommended places to eat were closed for the season, there are plenty of exceptional eateries on Main Street and along Mirror Lake that serve great lunch/dinners. I would easily recommend this property to anyone! April 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another wonderful stay with an upgrade delight and great service The hotel was full with hockey players for a tournament and we were there for a quick ski getaway. We were upgraded to 2 rooms in the Adirondack wing which is truly fantastic. The staff were just wonderful to deal with especially given how hectic it was with a full house. The only disappointment was the great room was closed to under 18's and we were looking forward to family cards and hot chocolate around the fire. The staff set us up in a quiet area of the dining room. A great visit. Now I need to save up to be able to reserve the Adirondack wing for our next ski visit :) April 9, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unfair. This is my second time staying there I was there once before for business as well. But this time I came with my family and booked an extra with my company rate. We could not get rooms close together so we were put on the same floor. That was fine. My co-workers check in the night after and they were put in the newer part of the hotel. I understand that I am not very high on the priority rewards program however I do travel frequently and your hotel was empty and it would've been a really nice treat and courtesy to have one of the newer rooms, I also would have paid more for it if I was made the offer. Again, the hotel was empty and it was Easter. Also, the two times I called to make reservations They were just downright short and rude. I do have a question, am I allowed to tip the person at the front desk? Because I would tip Bell boy and a Bartener and also tip the front desk if knew that this does not go against any rules. Thanks...... April 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 3 Bedroom Condos We also stayed in one of the 3 bedroom condos that this resort offers and what a great experience. It gave the 2 families travelling together all of the space we needed as well as the amenities of the hotel. April 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Weekend We spent a great weekend skiing and enjoying the pool and the restaurants. Have come many times and will continue to come back. April 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dissatisfied I have stayed at this hotel the last four years while attending my team's appearance in the NCAA DII Ice Hockey final 4. I picked this hotel as I am a Priority Club member and its location. I also liked their Adirondack wing. Problem 1: They have this ridiculous cancellation policy of 7 days out. No one knows IF their team is heading to the Final 4 until 6 days out and of course you hope to be there two nights. But in 2 of my 4 stays my team lost so that meant a lenghtly debate at the front desk at check out over canceling the second night inside of 7 days.. This year however, I got duped at check in when the front desk ask for my card for an inprint but unbeknown to me the gentlemen charged me then for both nights. When I went to check out I was told there was nothing they could do as I pre-paid for the rooms AND was checking out and cancelling my second night inside 7 days. This is neither fair or accommodating and not to mention a hassle in dealing with this practice when Lake Placid should be doing all it can to attract and keep business. Problem 2: Some of you will get a kick out of this. You are staying at the Crowne Plaza, in Lake Placid, in the Adirondack wing and have paid additioal for a "fireplace" room only to discover that it is NOT a fireplace at all (not wood or gas) but a hologram and a few glow bulbs! When I complained to the manager that I felt this was on the verge of misleading advertizing and not worthy of the additional fee she said she would credit me the difference ove r a non-fireplace room. At check out that never happened. Now mind you its not my style to post anything negative w/o giving the hotel a fisrt shot at my review. So I emailed and called, only to have a discussion with a gentlemen who was well skilled in letting me have my say but made no effort to adjust, correct or change cancellation policy or advertizing, so I am posting my review. What is sad is Lake Placid should host this event, its great hockey and its an economic boost to the region in mid March but i suspect on the ridiculous cancellation policies of the local hotels has cuased enough noise that the NCAA is going to Maine next year. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room The Hotel is very well maintained. I had a clean comfortable room at a great Government rate. The lounge was very relaxing. Thank you Crowne Plaza March 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than expected We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of our accommodation. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Beautiful view! March 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good overall but............ One crowded hot tub was the big letdown! Overall the facility was very good. March 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel but noisy Loved the great room, which served as a bar. It had an amazing view of the lake, nice, comfortable furniture and a good bar. The only real drawback to this hotel was that our room was situated next to a young boys hockey team, who played mini-hockey and other games in the hall way. Very noisy. Also, the hot tub was filled with double the limited number of people, including many young children. March 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I Wouldn't Stay Anywhere Else!!! I love the Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid, New York. I have been staying there for conferences for the past six years and love the accomodations, staff, food and service. The hotel has everything I could want and more. My wife and I are planning on taking our winter breaks there in the future. I would not think of staying anywhere else. March 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EXCELLENT Very Nice; As always. A beautiful hotel that beckons back to the days of the Adirondaks Grand Lodges. March 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Place I attend a conference that is held at the Lake Placid Crowne Plaza every year in the beginning of March (past 10 years). Without fail the hotel has clean, quality, well appointed rooms, reasonable breakfast and lunch buffets and good service. It is in a good location and has a great view of Mirror Lake. The beds are tremendous - they are so comfortable as are the pillows. The pool is on the large size and has an adjacent whirlpool. The bar that overlooks the lake is very nice. Their restaurant across the lake was very good and was located right on the water. Free shuttle both ways. I would highly recommend this hotel. March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best staff in north country I just finished up my 14th yearly visit for the Northern Adirondack Code Enforcement Officials training and seminar at the Crown Plaza. The staff treats you like family back for a reunion. I have the option to go do my training in multiple places around the state and the Lake Placid Crown Plaza is my favorite. I am elated that the association voted to return again next year. Special thanks to Cindy at front desk, Don and Mary in dining room and Omega, Jimmy and Phil in lounge. They all did an excellent job in making my stay as memorable this year as they have always done in past. See you all next year. HDB March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Service The staff can not do enough to make our stay more than what anyone could expect. The owners of this facility should be very proud of there entire staff. The staff can make or break any facility, but this staff from top to bottom do there job so profesional. Even staff out of site from the public exeed at there job and never get recognized as they should.THANKS for our recent stay and pass this message onto the entire staff March 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel for Hockey Fans I stay at this hotel the same weekend every year because my kids play in a hockey tournament. It is always a great place to stay. It is incredibly convenient. The hotel understands why you are there and is very lenient in dealing with a bunch of young hockey players. Everything though is very well controlled and orderly. I have been to many tournaments and this hotel seems to know how to keep things quiet and pleasant for hockey guests and non-hockey guests. I recommend me it strongly. When in Lake Placid why stay anywhere else. Besides, the views are incredible. March 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service !!! I had a very pleasurable stay. Our Chamber Maid was especially very professional and helpful!! We stayed in room 290. The staff was very accomodating and pleasant!!! The lobby on the main floor was very comfortable and nice just to sit and relax!! March 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful views, excellent staff, We live approximately 2 hours northwest of Lake Placid and own a timeshare there, so we are very familiar with the area, but rarely stay in hotels. We booked our rooms last minute using a gift certificate my husband received as a gift. We originally planned to go in the summer for golf, but changed our plans when our son & daughter-in-law needed a babysitter while they attended a wedding the end of January. We booked a basic AAA King room on the website on a busy weekend with the hotel full of skiers and hockey teams. No issues with noise and found plenty of spots in their gorgeous lobby and bar area. The staff was sweet, friendly and extremely accommodating. We arrived early on Saturday hoping to get in our room early so our daughter-in-law could feed the baby between the wedding and reception. Andy helped us at the front desk and made sure we had a room ready when we needed it with the help of his manager Cindy. What lovely and special people! We grabbed lunch and Andy called us to let us know our room was ready...what relief to know our month old grandson would be fed in a private and comfortable setting! The bed was comfortable, no back ache after two nights! We stayed Saturday and Sunday night, choosing to eat at the BoatHouse and take advantage of the shuttle service provided by the Crown; plus not many restaurants open Sundays. The restaurant was lovely, service was fantastic. Our server Mackenzie was delightful. Front desk personnel at checkout were fabulous and friendly. The perks for priority club members were a nice touch! Can't say enough about this place! March 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay! First time to Lake Placid and choose Crowne from the Internet . Great choice! It's walking distance to town. It is on a hill which has a great view and is not bad to walk up. People were very friendly, rooms were very clean, and bed very comfortable. Only 15 min from Whiteface Mountain. Had breakfast at the Hotel and very reasonable and food was good. The Hotel bar was a nice place to relax after a long day of skiing. Will definitely go back and recommend this place highly!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing! Went up for the night for a little getaway. It was perfect, staff was super friendly, room was beautiful, with an amazing view of the lake and the town. Ordered room service, and it was delicious, and the gentlemen that brought it up was really nice. Overall super impressed, even looking into going back up in April for my birthday. March 7, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Crown Plaza in name Holiday Inn in Reality Had a weekend planned for 50th Birthday Points needed to stay was double what Crown Plaza Times Square was last year but I thought this was special so why not splurge. The front entrance was nice and the Staff was friendly but once you started to go into the hotel and the rooms you realize that it is not at the level a high end hotel is meant to be at. We did an upgrade to a bigger room (Did not recognize Platinum member upgrade so I paid $50 more for bigger room) The reply was that my point just get you the basic room... Elevator was broken... Patio Door was old and beat up and needed to be "giggled" to open... I mean lift it up and down will all your force to open and close it. Room nice but was small and felt older... if you know what I mean This is a Holiday Inn hotel at best with some nice upgrade features, don't get me wrong I am a Priority Club Platinum Member for 15 years.. I like the Holiday Inn experience with the Express locations it is great fro work and travel but this is not a "Have a really nice weekend hotel and be spoiled by the Crown Plaza" March 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Property Beatiful but Room Old Lake Placid is a beautiful area, the hotel property spectacular. The room itself was simple and outdated looking. The bed comfortable and a nice TV set. Had a nice meal in the dining room overlooking the lake. My waitress was such a good server and very accomodating. Her name is Natalie and I would like the hotel to pass this along to her, she deserves an award for her exemplary service. I hope to stay there again for work or play some day. Thanks!!1 March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff - very helpful The hotel is great - your staff very helpful and efficient. The location is great. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back. We found the double beds too small but found the extra money to upgrade to queen beds not worth the extra that would be charged. March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal! We got a great midweek deal with the third night and third day of skiing free. The common room with the high ceilings and fireplace is an absolutely wonderful place to relax and have coffee or a drink. The room was nice enough but wasn't anything special (we were in the main hotel), but it didn't matter as we spent most of our time at Whiteface and in the common room by the fireplace. We loved it here and would definitely come back! March 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We go back every year The only slight issue is price, but if you can swing it this place is great. Walk easily to everywhere in LP, 15 min to Whiteface, views either of mirror lake or the olympic ski jumps and bobsled run at night. The lobby / resturant area overlooking LP is spectacular. We go down there every night to just chill, have a drink, talk with friends, etc. Never regret once I've spent the money. March 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely location I stayed in Lake Placid this winter and had a great experience at the Crowne Plaza. The service was fantastic, the location superb, and the Great Room could not be beat. My only complaint was that our room was extremely dated and for the price I have to say that the Holiday Inn Express chain rooms surpass this location. It's almost worth staying in Malone if you are going to explore several locations in the Adirondacks and want to save a little money. All of the staff was great though and if the price were a bit lower or if the rooms were updated I would definitely come back! March 3, 2013
