Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel but noisy Loved the great room, which served as a bar. It had an amazing view of the lake, nice, comfortable furniture and a good bar. The only real drawback to this hotel was that our room was situated next to a young boys hockey team, who played mini-hockey and other games in the hall way. Very noisy. Also, the hot tub was filled with double the limited number of people, including many young children. March 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I Wouldn't Stay Anywhere Else!!! I love the Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid, New York. I have been staying there for conferences for the past six years and love the accomodations, staff, food and service. The hotel has everything I could want and more. My wife and I are planning on taking our winter breaks there in the future. I would not think of staying anywhere else. March 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EXCELLENT Very Nice; As always. A beautiful hotel that beckons back to the days of the Adirondaks Grand Lodges. March 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Place I attend a conference that is held at the Lake Placid Crowne Plaza every year in the beginning of March (past 10 years). Without fail the hotel has clean, quality, well appointed rooms, reasonable breakfast and lunch buffets and good service. It is in a good location and has a great view of Mirror Lake. The beds are tremendous - they are so comfortable as are the pillows. The pool is on the large size and has an adjacent whirlpool. The bar that overlooks the lake is very nice. Their restaurant across the lake was very good and was located right on the water. Free shuttle both ways. I would highly recommend this hotel. March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best staff in north country I just finished up my 14th yearly visit for the Northern Adirondack Code Enforcement Officials training and seminar at the Crown Plaza. The staff treats you like family back for a reunion. I have the option to go do my training in multiple places around the state and the Lake Placid Crown Plaza is my favorite. I am elated that the association voted to return again next year. Special thanks to Cindy at front desk, Don and Mary in dining room and Omega, Jimmy and Phil in lounge. They all did an excellent job in making my stay as memorable this year as they have always done in past. See you all next year. HDB March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Service The staff can not do enough to make our stay more than what anyone could expect. The owners of this facility should be very proud of there entire staff. The staff can make or break any facility, but this staff from top to bottom do there job so profesional. Even staff out of site from the public exeed at there job and never get recognized as they should.THANKS for our recent stay and pass this message onto the entire staff March 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel for Hockey Fans I stay at this hotel the same weekend every year because my kids play in a hockey tournament. It is always a great place to stay. It is incredibly convenient. The hotel understands why you are there and is very lenient in dealing with a bunch of young hockey players. Everything though is very well controlled and orderly. I have been to many tournaments and this hotel seems to know how to keep things quiet and pleasant for hockey guests and non-hockey guests. I recommend me it strongly. When in Lake Placid why stay anywhere else. Besides, the views are incredible. March 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service !!! I had a very pleasurable stay. Our Chamber Maid was especially very professional and helpful!! We stayed in room 290. The staff was very accomodating and pleasant!!! The lobby on the main floor was very comfortable and nice just to sit and relax!! March 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful views, excellent staff, We live approximately 2 hours northwest of Lake Placid and own a timeshare there, so we are very familiar with the area, but rarely stay in hotels. We booked our rooms last minute using a gift certificate my husband received as a gift. We originally planned to go in the summer for golf, but changed our plans when our son & daughter-in-law needed a babysitter while they attended a wedding the end of January. We booked a basic AAA King room on the website on a busy weekend with the hotel full of skiers and hockey teams. No issues with noise and found plenty of spots in their gorgeous lobby and bar area. The staff was sweet, friendly and extremely accommodating. We arrived early on Saturday hoping to get in our room early so our daughter-in-law could feed the baby between the wedding and reception. Andy helped us at the front desk and made sure we had a room ready when we needed it with the help of his manager Cindy. What lovely and special people! We grabbed lunch and Andy called us to let us know our room was ready...what relief to know our month old grandson would be fed in a private and comfortable setting! The bed was comfortable, no back ache after two nights! We stayed Saturday and Sunday night, choosing to eat at the BoatHouse and take advantage of the shuttle service provided by the Crown; plus not many restaurants open Sundays. The restaurant was lovely, service was fantastic. Our server Mackenzie was delightful. Front desk personnel at checkout were fabulous and friendly. The perks for priority club members were a nice touch! Can't say enough about this place! March 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay! First time to Lake Placid and choose Crowne from the Internet . Great choice! It's walking distance to town. It is on a hill which has a great view and is not bad to walk up. People were very friendly, rooms were very clean, and bed very comfortable. Only 15 min from Whiteface Mountain. Had breakfast at the Hotel and very reasonable and food was good. The Hotel bar was a nice place to relax after a long day of skiing. Will definitely go back and recommend this place highly!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing! Went up for the night for a little getaway. It was perfect, staff was super friendly, room was beautiful, with an amazing view of the lake and the town. Ordered room service, and it was delicious, and the gentlemen that brought it up was really nice. Overall super impressed, even looking into going back up in April for my birthday. March 7, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Crown Plaza in name Holiday Inn in Reality Had a weekend planned for 50th Birthday Points needed to stay was double what Crown Plaza Times Square was last year but I thought this was special so why not splurge. The front entrance was nice and the Staff was friendly but once you started to go into the hotel and the rooms you realize that it is not at the level a high end hotel is meant to be at. We did an upgrade to a bigger room (Did not recognize Platinum member upgrade so I paid $50 more for bigger room) The reply was that my point just get you the basic room... Elevator was broken... Patio Door was old and beat up and needed to be "giggled" to open... I mean lift it up and down will all your force to open and close it. Room nice but was small and felt older... if you know what I mean This is a Holiday Inn hotel at best with some nice upgrade features, don't get me wrong I am a Priority Club Platinum Member for 15 years.. I like the Holiday Inn experience with the Express locations it is great fro work and travel but this is not a "Have a really nice weekend hotel and be spoiled by the Crown Plaza" March 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Property Beatiful but Room Old Lake Placid is a beautiful area, the hotel property spectacular. The room itself was simple and outdated looking. The bed comfortable and a nice TV set. Had a nice meal in the dining room overlooking the lake. My waitress was such a good server and very accomodating. Her name is Natalie and I would like the hotel to pass this along to her, she deserves an award for her exemplary service. I hope to stay there again for work or play some day. Thanks!!1 March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff - very helpful The hotel is great - your staff very helpful and efficient. The location is great. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back. We found the double beds too small but found the extra money to upgrade to queen beds not worth the extra that would be charged. March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal! We got a great midweek deal with the third night and third day of skiing free. The common room with the high ceilings and fireplace is an absolutely wonderful place to relax and have coffee or a drink. The room was nice enough but wasn't anything special (we were in the main hotel), but it didn't matter as we spent most of our time at Whiteface and in the common room by the fireplace. We loved it here and would definitely come back! March 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We go back every year The only slight issue is price, but if you can swing it this place is great. Walk easily to everywhere in LP, 15 min to Whiteface, views either of mirror lake or the olympic ski jumps and bobsled run at night. The lobby / resturant area overlooking LP is spectacular. We go down there every night to just chill, have a drink, talk with friends, etc. Never regret once I've spent the money. March 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely location I stayed in Lake Placid this winter and had a great experience at the Crowne Plaza. The service was fantastic, the location superb, and the Great Room could not be beat. My only complaint was that our room was extremely dated and for the price I have to say that the Holiday Inn Express chain rooms surpass this location. It's almost worth staying in Malone if you are going to explore several locations in the Adirondacks and want to save a little money. All of the staff was great though and if the price were a bit lower or if the rooms were updated I would definitely come back! March 3, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Does not meet the standard This hotel does not match any other Crowne Plaza hotels I have visited before. This is very disappointing. I actually booked 2 nights and decided to move to another hotel after the first night. The room with King size bed and fireplace was small and old. Fireplace was in fact something without real flame! The heater was so noisy that we had hard time to sleep. Finally the room was pretty expensive. March 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very nice hotel nice and clean room. amenities were good as well. only complaints are fitness room needs to be upgraded and children should not be allowed - even with parents! Also - at check -in , young woman behind front desk should be told to smile on occasion. not the friendliest person I have encountered! Others behind front desk were very pleasant. February 26, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not This Time I am sorry to say our stay this time was not as nice as previous stays. The room had a odor, and had cob webs in the corners on the floor in the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom make up mirror was dusty and had some kind of build up on it. When we called the front desk they told us " There were no other rooms available and would send house cleaning up." House cleaning never came. We cut our stay short. Would expect cleaner rooms and better service from this high end hotel. February 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff Front Desk Staff was excellent! Property is beautiful along with the views of Lake Placid. February 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place!!! fantastic location right next to the Olympic center, Mirror Lake, the speed skating oval and all the shops in town. Granted it is on top of a fairly steep hill, but that makes the views even from the parking lot that much more spectacular. They are dog friendly, but you don't notice that there are excessive numbers of dogs. Plenty of parking, which is not an easy feat in that town. They were very nice and also let us check in early, without any notice. Also - the buffet brunch in very good, convenient, and a good deal as well. If you have a big group, you can try for one of the two separate cabins for more room and privacy. We will definitely be back. February 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Experieince We visited Lake Placid, NY for the first time in February 2013 with a family of 12. While staying at the Crowne Plaza, we had an awesome experience. The staff was great and the housekeeping was very friendly and always provided exactly what we needed. I would return to stay here again in the near future. Very impressed. February 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Crowne Lake Placid We normally stay on Mirror Lake. It it a nice property but a few concerns. The drive/walk to get the Main street a little inconvenient. Rooms were extremely small. The pool was great until we discovered several water bugs (large bugs) in the hot tub. I did report this to the clerk when we checked out. Food very good, ordered room service twice. View was beatiful, but probably would not stay again. February 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, clean room and excellent service Stayed 6 nights in early February. Delighted with room, very clean, comfortable beds, and handy refrigerator to store snacks and doggy bags. Hotel restaurant provide an awesome buffet at breakfast with EVERYTHING imaginable at a very reasonable price.Gourmet dinners were very good too. Large lounge with vaulted , beamed ceiling and gorgeous fire place makes for an excellent place to kick up your feet and relax. Couldn't ask for a better location. The hotel site on top of a hill gives beautiful views of Mirror Lake and the Adirondack High Peaks. Only downside is having to negotiate the hill to get into the village, but we found the walk very manageable as able bodied seniors. Village has plenty to see and do -- shops and restaurants , a tobagan slide onto the Lake, Olympic Ice rinks next door.. And of course nearby there is a world of X-country ski and snow shoe trails, Whiteface Mt for alpine skiing (and a free shuttle to take you there and back). Last but not least the staff are very "down home" friendly and helpful. This place is the "Real Deal!" February 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Service When ever I come to lake placid this is the hotel you need to stay at I have tried 3 other hotels nothing compares to the Crowne. A must stay!!!! February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel! Everything was perfect for our weekend getaway! Staff was great! I have no complaints at all. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and again. Highly recommended. February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Spacious Suite Suite was very spacious. Nice fireplace in room. Good food. Nice breakfast buffet for a great price. Lovely great room with view. Would definately recommend this hotel. February 15, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average Room; Excellent Location;Below Average Food - Room was of older construction and dark but comfortable. As priority club platinum I was not offered an upgrade. - Menu's were available in great room for food. My wife attemped to order food at the great room bar but was told that they were not taking orders and she would have to order at the resteraunt. She then ordered at the resteraunt and they told her that she would have to pick up the food in 20 mins and they would not deliver to the great room. After 15 mins to our surprise they delivered our soup in to go containers vs. a crock which was also cold. Very dissapointing food experience. I stated a complaint to the front desk upon check out but was not offered any type of compensation other than an apology. - Location and atmosphere is excellent February 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Needs a face lift but hotel is nice The hotel is located right across the street from the other hotels in town but be aware it is on top of a BIG hill! Lake Placid is mostly a walking town, so unless you're prepared to tackle this hill every time you come and go from the hotel, I would consider staying elsewhere (especially if it's snowing like it was when I was there). (If you have a car, it's no problem). As far as it's proximity to town, it's perfect, but it's location on top of this big hill (which also provided for beautiful views though!) made things a little difficult for me. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Hotel could use a face lift, especially the rooms and restaurant. It's worth the extra $20/night for a village/lake view room. (my first room was directly level with and looking at the air conditioning motor on the roof, but I changed to a room with a view, which was beautiful). Totally worth it. Hotel is very cozy. Overall, good experience, I was there on a business trip. As long as you are willing to tackle that big hill, I would recommend staying here. I had co-workers staying on the other side of the hotel who said the rooms were awesome and they loved it, so maybe it was just my side. Rooms are a good size, and I understand there are several different types of rooms. There seemed to be plenty to do in the hotel- It has computers and a printer for business use, and a pool/hot tub. If you're ok with the hill, this is a solid hotel! The rooms and hallways could use a major face lift though. I wouldn't use the word luxurious, but it was totally fine for the weekend.
