Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Welcoming and friendly Stayed here while dropping our son at nearby University of Kent at Canterbury. Late arrival after a 5 hour drive. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant was closed, we were able to get beans on toast through room service which was just what was needed. Buffet breakfast was good, with eggs cooked to order and pancakes etc. being all you can eat, its not bad value for money. Good hotel, very good staff, recommended. January 22, 2014

It's proximity to the Eurotunnel makes it an excellent choice, but in this day and age, finding a hotel that accepts your pet without imposing crazy charges is a delight. Very good value for money and - as always - the breakfast is my checkpoint ... it passes without problem. My wife and I will make this our stopping point when coming through on our UK/Europe trips. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best. Booked for one night, executive room + breakfast for my wife and I. Arrived and check in was fine. Room was roasting hot, Couldn't find ice machine and when asked, told to get it from the bar. One bathrobe in the room for two persons and no slippers as advertised, but no big deal. Nice compact bedroom overlooking the bar and disco. The biggest downfall was breakfast ... served until 11.00am. We arrived at 08.50 to find the hot server had been cleared away leaving a few dirty serving plates and spoons. When asked about hot food was told it was now being cooked to order. We ordered and the food came out miraculously quickly considering it was being 'cooked to order'. Cold meats selection and cheese was very poor; cheese slices, mortadella and some danish salami rather dried up. Jugs of juice available (not refrigerated) amongst the cereal dispensers which had off loaded their contents on the table with no attempt for it to be cleaned. A variety of fruit assortments and half a dish of yoghurt. Croissants, cooked on the outside but doughy in the middle. The overall atmosphere in the dining room was as if we were too late BUT NO! other guests were arriving for breakfast and they all had a similar disappointed look on their faces. We ate breakfast, though could have been in a service station on the M1, and on departure, would have commented but unfortunately there were no staff available. If breakfast is served until late, a full service should be available. We left feeling as though it would have been more helpful to the staff if we have apologised for being late at 08.50 on a Saturday morning and forgone breakfast altogether! A real disappointment. Come on Holiday Inn, you are in the HOSPITALITY business and there are plenty of competitors willing to take your custom, and indeed will. January 12, 2014

Although a little the worse for wear on late arrival, the.staff were tolerant, understanding and went the extra mile. Thanks to them and the wonderful breakfast that is served by there very efficient staff.. Proved to be a very wise choice as it's centrally situated, comfortable and provided excellent breakfast facilities. It's also based around an interesting old building - the dining area in particular has a wonderful old beamed roof. Clean comfortable and welcoming. January 3, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could do better. Couldn't find the hotel on sat-nav, and were told that it happens a lot. Sort it out? Check- in was confusing and short on information. When we returned to ask the times for breakfast we were told to go and read the notices. Breakfast had been pre-paid ( good value, good quality) but had been charged to the room again. Cracked basin in the bathroom. WiFi was chargeable where down the road in Folkestone Holiday Express it was free. Directions for the shopping outlet were ' you can't miss it', well maybe not if you knew which direction to go in, and we didn't as we'd never been to Ashford before. Not our first choice of stopover and probably not again. January 3, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by World's friendliest staff Stayed at this hotel earlier on this week in very difficut personal circumstances. Totally overwhelmed by the kindness and helpfulness shown to me by all the staff, particularly Zoe and Trisha, both of whom deserve a medal. My only constructive comment is that this is not a purely non-smoking hotel, so even if you book a non-smoking room, you still have to walk past rooms for smokers, and sometimes the smell creeps into your room. If you're at all asthmatic, this can cause big trouble! My only other comment is that Wi-Fi charges are very expensive at this hotel - a big deal if you need to be connected in order to work - but I believe that these charges are eventually going to be dropped. The rooms and hotel appeared the same, even the very poor, snowy, picture on the tv in the bar. However, the Staff have become even more helpful and courteous. After arriving early we wanted lunch and the Staff checked us in early just so that we could book it to our room. Excellent service followed for all of the meals and checking out was smooth and simple. Many thanks for putting the icing on an what was a truly fantastic stay in Ashford. December 6, 2013

The Australian receptionist was efficient and friendly, and the East European (I think) waitress was first class. The new menu was excellent and I had an excellent dinner. That, combined with a great night's sleep, made my stay very memorable. I look forward to returning soon. November 13, 2013

Very dry and long since overcooked. I asked for a couple of poached eggs but they were well overcooked too - served up on hot damp bread - AKA toast!!. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay - Park and stay with family We used the hotel park and stay offer. Excellent taxi service and short journey to Eurostar terminal. We had two rooms as we are a family of seven. The rooms were connecting which is a huge bonus! Our greeting at reception was both pleasant and helpful after a long car journey. The children were all given activity to packs and even had a chocolate button hunt awaiting for them I the bedrooms. Bar was usual hotel prices, but food we had the added bonus of kids eat free. No strings attached, good childrens menu great value! Rooms comfy, clean, everything we needed. Breakfast buffet very good start to along day ahead! On our return we had another night due to train times. Again a welcome comfortable return from a hectic few days ! Great hotel, family friendly, good location for Eurostar, would not hesitate to book again and would recommend !!!! November 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Stay for Family My family and friends family recently stayed here before and after a holiday to Disneyland Paris (travelling from the North West to ride the Eurostar). The staff at the reception were really polite and helpful. The rooms were very clean and we loved the hidden buttons for the children! The location is perfect, and Eurostar deal excellent value. When returning from Paris feeling exhausted, we visited the bar for small snacks and a drink, finding it full due to a football match. The waitress and bar staff went out of their way to accommodate us in the restaurant, not only serving excellent food and service, but also applying our overnight discount and free kids meals, deducting service charges as well! The prices were very reasonable. After the meal, we sat at the reception, again the staff went out of their way to serve drinks to us. The buffet breakfast on both days was excellent, hot and tasty, and we were not rushed as found in other hotels. I have stayed at many Holiday Inns in the UK, and was more than happy to say that this is one of the best I have stayed in. Many thanks for the personal touches and welcome. This is the second time we have stayed here visiting family locally and chosen after spending a night at a certain other Lodge chain and being unimpressed. This hotel is always very clean and tidy with very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant wasn't open until 6:30pm which is a bit annoying for a number of guests including ourselves who need to eat before going somewhere for the evening so we ate from the bar menu which was the best sirloin steak I've ever had! The rooms are spacious and I always sleep like a brick there followed by the best breakfast set up I've ever seen at hotels including 5* hotels that we have stayed at. There are a variety of cereals, juices, tea, coffee, toast, fruit, rolls, a cooked breakfast and a pancake making machine all of which is buffet style and self service. All in All a great place to stay that I'd highly recommended and we will return! October 25, 2013
