Having stayed at this Holiday Inn on many previous occasions due to not having to be in this area for a while have not had the opportunity. I must be honest and say that in the past we have experienced some small problems so a bit apprehensive going back but so pleased we did - we saw a vast improvement in a lot of the areas which was really nice- not sure where the last few reviewers have stayed but I am sure things have not changed that much in the last two weeks since we were there. Firstly the staff could not have done more for us especially Jack on reception who is a credit to the hotel and all Holiday Inns should have one! - he was so helpful and did recognise my Platinum Status and apologised that there were no upgraded rooms available which I was aware of. Bar staff also friendly and nice to see the garden area etc has been cleaned up especially as we had sunshine. Lastly we had room service which is always a problem in all hotels of all standards and chains but I have to say it was the best Lasagne I have eaten (and we eat out most nights) in a very long time and was hot and delivered quickly. So if you need to be in the area I would not hesitate to say stay - no it is not a 5 star luxury hotel but you get what you pay for and hopefully Jack will be on reception to welcome you!!

On booking into the Hotel, I was not upgraded, or any mention from the staff, that I was a platinum member, I booked a double-non-smoking room--I was given 2 single beds and a room that was badly smelling of previous guests smoking!!
Manager did find me another room, after being I was asked twice-if I had touched anything in the first room??
I went into the Hotel Bar to order drinks and Starter and Dinner-----
Starter came after 30 minutes, then I sat there for another hour and half--waiting for my main course, it never came--So I went to reception to complain, my main meal arrived in my hotel room - 20 minutes later, Chicken was cold, and when I checked out the next morning--The Hotel charged me a extra £6,00 for Room Service !!
In which I had to pay!
The Duty Manager- did say just how sorry he was, and said he would add some points to my rewards-package, to hopefully compensate the whole experience.
Have a guess what?? He never Did !
Awful Experience, from possibly the worst hotel that I have ever stopped in.

I've stayed in a LOT of Holiday Inns, all around the world and this is well below average.
The rooms are a bit tired, the woman on the reception desk when we arrived treated our arrival as an inconvenience and I'm in no great rush to go back.
This is not terrible hotel, but there are plenty of better options.
