Staff was not that great but the room itself was awesome!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 bed was terrible
The staff moved me to a different room in the South Tower. One bed was ok and the 2nd bed was terrible.
The second bed, closest to the bathroom, was several inches lower than the adjacent bed and felt and sounded like I was sleeping on cardboard!!

My husband and I stayed at this Holiday Inn for a long weekend to check out Austin. We were disappointed right away when we arrived at the airport, got on the shuttle we called ahead for and then sat in the shuttle for 30 minutes while the shuttle driver waited for flight staff. He could have made it to the hotel and back in that 30 min.
When we checked in, I informed the front desk person that we were without a rental car and asked for a map. He thought for a minute and finally gave me a map that didn't have any street names on it, not even the hotel location. We only found out the last day there that the shuttle would have brought us downtown, but we were never told that so we walked every day, me being 5 months pregnant, which location wise was about 20 minutes, even though when I had called ahead of time I was told downtown was only 2 blocks away. The walk to the downtown area was not that safe either, my husband being harassed one of the evenings by a group of guys outside the hotel and another man talking to us about how he was mugged only a street over.
On the third day we were going to go back to the airport to pick up a rental car. I called ahead and scheduled us on a 1230 shuttle, which she strictly informed me not to be late for. At 1220 we were waiting outside, but the shuttle never left. At 1245 I walked back inside and asked what was going on, she said the shuttle already left and we were supposed to be there at 1230!! I said we had been waiting outside since 1220! The other girl chimed in then and said, "oh no, the driver is on break, he never went, I'll call him".
We were never told where to find the pool or the fitness room, I was never greeted as a rewards member. And in the middle of our stay, while we were in the room with our Do Not Disturb sign on, we had a knock on the door and management came in with a maintenance guy to do some type of measurement on our window. You would think that could have waiting since we had our Do Not Disturb sign on.
When they cleaned the room then never replaced the regular coffee packets, and we had to ask for more toilet paper.
I am a loyal customer to Holiday Inn, but I would never spend my points at this particular location again.
