tl;dr: Low stars because many things were wrong, More than one star because they were all resolved or resolvable.

Everything seemed off during this stay. Taken individually, most of our concerns were not worth mentioning, but as a whole, the really served to put us off ever staying at the hotel again.

Three major issues up front:

First, for the side of the hotel I stayed in, there are two elevators, and one was out of order the whole three days with no signage nor repair expectation.

Second, the garage elevators were both out of order (with signage) and we were redirected to the service elevator instead. This wasn't a big inconvenience as we never really met with a long wait here, unlike with the main elevator to the rooms.

Third, there was no heat in the room upon arrival on a cold day. The HVAC unit's thermostat was set to 80 degrees, but it was blowing cold air. I shut it off for the remainder of the stay and relied on hallway air to keep us from freezing. I have to accept responsibility for suffering through this instead of reporting it up front.

Next up, there were no towels in the bathroom, though a mention at the front desk fixed this issue easily.
Housekeeping skipped our room the first day, but we requested it the next day. They did clean the room, but neglected to refresh the coffee service.

As a business traveler, I relied upon Internet access to work from the room when not at the Austin convention center; It went down the second night and I could not work.

Two more little omissions: there was only one trash can in the whole room despite the presence of a desk. Perhaps this is normal for this hotel, maybe it is a mistake?

Finally, I'm accustomed to amenities like water being left for preparing the coffee so one does not have to resort to sink water. This also could be a peculiarity of the location, so I didn't mention it.
