Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A bit dated, slow breakfast The decor was outdated. There was a notice saying refurbishment was underway but could not see any evidence. The room was clean and of an average standard but the corridors had a strange smell. The weekend we stayed was extremely hot and the aircon was unrealiable. Food in the restaurant was OK. Breakfast tasted OK but staff clearly couldnt manage the number of guests and long queues formed whilst waiting for buffet items to be cooked. I waited 15 minutes for mushrooms and tomatoes but gave up waiting. To my knowledge these items didnt appear by the time we had finished our breakfast. July 28, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst bed and poor srvice The bed was from the dark ages. The pillows were so thin I wrapped 2 towels around them. The room was too hot, no a/c to fix. The bed linen was so thin as to be transparent. I believe it was a poly/cotton mix. There was only 1 small tablet of soap, we asked twice for shampoo etc. none came. The food in the restaurant left much to be desired. The portions were small. The service was challenged, no staff then 15 mins later 3. I asked the reception why there were so many problems here, all I received were apologies. As you know I stayed at HI at Brands Hatch on June 8th. and as I told the receptionist, it was the complete opposite and most enjoyable. We are booked into Northampton HI Express, 26/28 July, I hope this will not be like Corby. June 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great one night stay We were made very welcome on arrival and were upgraded to a really lovely suite. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a double bathroom and a very comfortable bed leading to a good night's sleep. The hotel was well situated to the town and station with a good taxi service close by as we did not have our car. There was a good choice of food for breakfast which was most enjoyable, leisurely and relaxing. June 8, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Eat. Don't Communicate. The Staff were very friendly but that did not make up for the very old Hotel which urgently needs an update. The room had a small TV which was on a floor stand and gave extremely bad reception. When i complained about the reception on the TV, I was told that "... we have new TV's but we don;t know when they are being installed..." that didn't fix MY problem.... The Internet (Free) was so slow that pages would drop out before they could load. Perhaps it was because our room was so far from reception. No fewer than 5 Fire Doors between the lift and our room. The food at Breakfast (pre-paid) was awful. We arrived about 8:30 each morning of our 3 morning stay to find food on the breakfast bar that looked like it had been there since 5:30am. On day one I tried a full breakfast.... Scrabbled Eggs were dry and "crusty" from being under the heat lamp so long. The sausages were not much better. The 2nd and 3rd days I settled for Tea (nice) and toast. Beds were VERY comfortable but that is all that i could recommend the hotel for. May 15, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Is it really a Holiday Inn? I doubt I will be staying here again !!! - I stayed here once before and it was OK, but the room I was given this time was terrible. Pros - easy to get to - erm, thats it! Cons - The constant switching on and off of the Air Con unit outside which was annoying - and this was with the window shut!. It stopped at 10pm but started again at 6am !!!! - No soap or shampoo in bathroom (lucky i brought my own!) - Dispensers were empty too. - Room stunk of Bleach. - Low water pressure so Shower had no power. - No Recognition for being a Priority Club Member. - TV faulty and poor picture - Very slow and unreliable WiFi - Decor is tired and needs revamp Overall - Will pay extra next time and go elsewhere - Close this hotel and fully revamp it, becasue it needs it. It also seems that Holiday Inn don't care about standards if they are happy to have a hotel of this poor standard using their name! May 13, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nce restaurant poor room This was my first and hopefully last stay at the hotel. The first night was quiet, but the second night all I could hear were radiator pipes, hot water and late night revellers. The room was old and dated and clearly equiped for less able guests. There was no bath (despite one being requested) and the shower was raised. Clearly in the past someone has allowed the shower to spill over as the hall way carpet was damp and musty. The TV was an old big box version with the picture quality poor. The surroundings were nice and the quality of the rooms could clearly be improved to make the standard of the room match the descriptions and price. May 12, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Exceeded expectations I requested a quiet twin room and was allocated a beautiful, freshly-decorated spacious room on the second-floor overlooking a small wooded area. From our window we could see plump squirrels and rabbits, plus many birds in amongst the trees. It was like being in the country. So peaceful. The staff we encountered ~ on Reception, and a young man behind the bar ~ were all polite and eager to help. It was very cold and snowy during our visit but our room was snug and welcoming at all times. The heating was very effective. The beds were superbly comfortable too, as was the whole room. I value space and hate being cramped. Our twin executive room was perfect for our needs. Sadly we did not have time to avail ourselves of the leisure club facilities, but if we needed to visit Northants again I would go out of my way to stay at this particular Holiday Inn. (I ought to add that the telly was out of the Ark ;) but it did not detract from our overall enjoyment of our stay.) March 21, 2013

Breakfast was poor quality with some items of food being over-cooked and others cold. Dinner was good as was the service. I shall not be using this Holiday Inn again. March 20, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to expectations I booked in to this hotel for 3 nights and left after 1. I book Holiday Inns for more comfort then most hotels. On arrival the hotel looks nice and well presented, but this did not carry on through the hotel. The carpets are thread bear on the stairs, the rooms are what you would expect from an under invested independent hotel in the 90's not a Holiday Inn! The room looked very worn with cracks in the sink, faulty air-con ((wouldn't normally be a problem but with a room on the roadside it was to loud to open the windows) and a window that rattled. I was able to hear the TV next door which was good as mine wasn't up to much, dodgy remote and poor signal. Very slow internet, which when staying away for business you need to be able to work. I thought the staff would ask why I was leaving when I checked out 2 days early but nothing was said and they didn't ask anything about my stay. I use this chain a lot but will not be back here again. February 6, 2013

The staff here are fantastic. We ate in the restaurant both nights and had breakfast. The food was all really nice. We have stayed here before and are always very happy. See you soon! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Time for a facelift Food excellent. Staff really helpful and could not do anything more to help. But it's time for a refit. This hotel is starting to show its age. The room (019) was looking tired. Bathroom fittings were worn. 1980's feel to the room and furniture. Bed was comfortable but everything else in the room was showing the signs of age. Scuff marks on the walls, doors and furniture. It was a particularly cold night and the whole hotel felt cold including the room. The restaurant food was excellent as was the service but the decor really lets the place down. December 18, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay We stayed for 2 days for a wedding close by. I had read reviews which made me concerned before I travelled but I am happy to report they were all unfounded. We had 4 rooms in total, 1 executive and 3 standard. The standard rooms numbers were 130, 131 and 132. We had no problems in these rooms whatsoever, furniture was fine and all clean and tidy. Swimming pool was good but a little on the cold side for smaller ones, so we only stayed for 45 minutes. Changing rooms were all clean. Had dinner the first night as part of the package and was excellent. 1 member of the party is a little fussy and we requested if his meal could be ordered off the bar menu, which was not a problem. Great nights sleep the first night, and a very good selection for the buffet breakfast the following day - sausage, bacon, fried and scrambled eggs, fried bread, croissants and pastries, yoghurts, some continental, cereal, toast and jam. If you can't find anything to eat at the buffet then you really are just too fussy!. We were at a wedding all the following day and the staff at the hotel could not be more accommodating in the help they gave us. Again a great nights sleep, as we were later for breakfast the following morning we were given a menu and could order what we would like to be cooked fresh. No continental today but again, cereal, yoghurt, toast etc as above. All in all we had a good stay and would stay here again when visiting family in the area. November 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bring your swimwear We booked an overnight to have early morning access to Rockingham for a driving experience. They had a wedding on so the manageress gave us a room away from the evening event and we didn't hear a sound. Just an extra bit of consideration like that keeps everyone happy. No-one wants to be a misery but than again do you want to lie in bed listening to music blaring out until the small hours? The swimming pool with spa bath, sauna and steam room make for added relaxation. You don't even have to travel home with soggy swimwear as they have a nifty little spin dryer in the changing rooms. And don't forget the lovely breakfast served at Holiday Inns. My husband always says it's the best part of the stay. November 3, 2012

The meals were good and the staff on duty were friendly, talkative and courteous. The room was everything we wanted the only downside was the traffic noise. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A very dated and overpriced hotel The hotel was like something from the late eighties early nineties. Very dated in every way, the room was basic to say the least, the shower was like being out in a light shower of rain, the television was certainly from the nineties it most definitely was not a flat screen! I waited10 minutes at the bar for a drink as there was no one serving, the restaurant was totally overpriced £15 for a very chewey rump steak and £5 for a very average house red wine. I stay at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express most of the time and this was the worst I've stayed at. 3/10 October 22, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing I booked a room at this hotel via the Priority Club website after I received an email promoting a "Stay and celebrate" package which offered dinner, bed and breakfast including a bottle of sparkling wine in the room at a discounted rate. When I got to reception to check in the person on the desk had the booking on their system but nothing about the included extras. She checked with the manager who said he knew nothing about the offer but after I explained what was in the package he agreed to honour it like he was doing me a favour. The wine was never delivered to my room so I had to ask for it in the restaurant but I was told it wouldn't be sparkling wine and they brought me a bottle of their Spanish house wine. I ordered a steak but it was riddled with gristle and virtually inedible and was probably the worst piece of meat that has ever been served up to me. October 22, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great room Food In-edible Check in fine, complimentary upgrade very welcome. The dining experience has to be ranked the absolute worst in all my stay's in Holiday Inn. The food was in-edible,absolutely disgusting what was eaten had the same taste on every fork full, the sweet was horrid which wasn't helped by cold custard. Discussed this matter with the head waiter, who to be honest didn't seem that interested, but was told because we were staying on a dinner, bed & breakfast rate nothing could be done! When checking out the receptionist asked how the stay had been, I told her about the food and she replied oh dear! Nobody wants to know when something isn't right. Maybe time now for a change of hotel chain. October 20, 2012
