Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing this time We have stayed at this Exmore HIE about 4 times a year for the past 3 years and have been very happy with it until this stay. The hotel is in the midst of a construction project to repair the exterior because of moisture damage. This project was underway during our last stay in January also. This not the problem. The king room we stayed did not have the usual fridge, microwave and luggage stand. The pool was still not in use due to the construction. The grounds were a mess due to uncut grass, many cigarette butts etc away from the construction area. We paid an extra $25 pet fee and I clean up my dogs mess, unlike the others there with no pets. Also there were no luggage carriers available. My problem is the cost was $30 to $40 more than previous stays and the hotel offered less and certainly not up to it's usual standard. Whether this was a special Friday night (I doubt it) or not charging so much more was unacceptable. We will probably try again but if there is no change we'll go elsewhere in the future. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bottom of three My family was on the way home from a week of stays in Holiday Inns and Express. This was the bottom of three that we stayed at this week. Asked for a refrig in our room, not one there. Air Conditioner made load noise when ever the fan clicked on, all night. Breakfast was the only good thing. Hotel is under renovations and had no influence on our stay. Kidos to the working crew. We will be passing this one the next time we head south. April 27, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed with reasonable breakfast but not a good place to stay. I would not encourage anyone to stay at this hotel until the renovations are completed. A "new" manager (2 weeks on the job) wouldn't/couldn't describe WHY they were suing the contractor for shoddy work. Half the hotel was not in service. desk clerk, after dinner, was busy flirting with one of the contractors and oblivious to guests. Personally, I'd close the place until renovations are completed. It's GREEDY to keep a hotel open when more than half of it is under complete renovation. For the rate paid, I'd rather have slept in my car! April 22, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Regular stopover This hotel has become a regular stopover for us on our trips south and back home twice a year. It is a known quantity. The staff is always friendly. Both check in and out always go smoothly, and our requests are always met satisfactorily. The beds are extremely comfortable and the room very clean. Be aware, however, that construction is going on currently, and so, there is a little more noise and activity than is the norm. Also, this time only, the staff had a hard time keeping the breakfast area filled with foods. This is through no fault of their own. When you have a dining area filled with construction workers who pile each of their plates with 15--20 pieces of bacon at a time, I don't know how they could possibly keep up with restocking. The second things were refilled, they would get up, en masse, and clean out everything there once again. My husband never was able to get any scrambled eggs and only got 1 piece of bacon after repeated trips. Finally, he just gave up and ate cereal as we had to get on the road. The only solution I can see to that is someone in management nicely suggesting that they are not the only guests of the hotel there, that they are allowed to eat their fill, but please take reasonable quantities of food. Again, I see this as only a temporary problem while construction is ongoing. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through the area, but just want you to be aware of the current situation due to construction. March 14, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by March 1st Stay This was a great stay. The room was quiet and had an awesome view. The bed was quite comfortable and the pillows were nice and soft. Only half the tv channels worked. The breakfast was good with no complaints. I will stay here again on my next trip. March 4, 2015
