Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lost Reservation I reserved a suite three weeks in advance, but when I went to check-in the reservation was not found. I was first told they had no rooms available, then that there was one smoking room, then they found two more rooms. Staff and room management system seemed very unorganized. We ended up in a double, non-smoking. The room was ok, but not great. Holes and scuffs on walls had been repainted with a color that did not match/blend. AC unit had been left off all day; room got very hot. April 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Nice Clean quiet property We chose this hotel because it is so convenient to family who live only a few blocks away AND its convenience to the highway without being noisy (less than a block away but you do not hear any noise!). This is the second time we have stayed here and it is a very nice clean property with very helpful, kind staff. It is good value, however breakfast I would recommend going else where - not so good. My only other negative is that the pool is outdoors and as North Carolina is quite cold even into early summer it is a waste of space - would have been nice to have an indoor pool to enjoy. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Smelled Terrible I had a similar experience to the previous guest. The smell was awful. I asked a staff member in the afternoon to switch rooms (it was full), and then asked her to open the windows (b/c I could not) and check out the room (was leaving to go to a wedding). The staff member agreed to do this, but she did not open the window or did anything to relieve the stench (when I got back to my hotel room the window was shut). I told an evening staff member of the problem and she came to my room and assisted me with opening the window. However, this still did not relieve the smell (as I am typing this in the morning). While the evening staff member did all she could, I would not recommend this location to anyone and would tell others to seek out another hotel. April 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst night in hotel ever I would first like to state that I called this property twice to attempt to book, 1st time was put on hold for over 5 minutes, then hung up on, called back and told the phone answerer I was hung up on and was berated for stating as such. I was then asked to call back later, a harbinger of things to come. I then called the 800 number to book, which as usual was flawless. I was late arriving,(12 PM) only one parking space left ,which I took. There were railroad vehicles everywhere taking up 2-3, even 4 parking spaces. I exited my vehicle to see three men sleeping in a car with the engine running pretty ghetto to me. I parked in an empty space, and told the desk clerk about the sleeping men in the parking lot, he told me he was going to check on that as soon as I checked in. Imagine my surprise when I was awakened at 445 by a phone call by the very same man who told me he was going out to check the guys sleeping in the car adjacent to mine. He told me my vehicle was in the way of his RR buddies truck and I needed to move it. To my way of thinking this was strange, as I feel that if he felt my vehicle was in the way, why not tell me before I went to sleep. Naturally I was upset, when I came down stairs, they all were having a good laugh at my expense. I demanded my money back for the room as I was only able to use it for less than 4 hours. As a Gold Elite Ambassador I would have expected as such. There were spiders in the bathroom and the furnishings were quite worn and dated. WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE April 25, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Non-Smokers beware The hotel has smoking rooms. I do not have a problem with this, but the lobby/ buffet area has a very heavy smoking stench, which is very unwelcoming to non-smokers. It was so heavy in fact, that when I returned to the car after checking in, my wife, who had stayed in the car with the kids, commented on how badly I smelled of smoke, just from being in the lobby through the check in process. Our room, although it was marked as a “non-smoking”, it had a heavy “stale smoke” smell to it. We put on the AC in hopes of it helping, which it did somewhat, but it was very unappealing. After the first night we considered checking out, and moving hotels, but we did not want to pack up and move everything (2 kids of “stuff”, and all of our stuff too). I asked the front desk about this (front desk clerk herself a smoker, had been outside the front door smoking when I came to ask her about this), she explained that the smoking rooms are on the first floor, which tends to make the lobby smell like smoke. The morning breakfast was also make very unappealing from the smoke smell. This hotel really needs to do something about this. Maybe put the smoking floors on the top floor or something. Second hand and third hand smoke is not only unsavory, it is also dangerous. April 22, 2015

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just go "smell the room" I made my reservation on the phone with Holiday Inn Reservations and indicated that I was traveling with a cat. The reservation confirmation indicated that I should confirm directly with the hotel regarding pets. I called the hotel directly, requested a non-smoking room (I was recovering from bronchitis at the time) and they confirmed a non-smoking room and that I was traveling with a pet. When I arrived at 11pm, they told me that they did not have a non-smoking room available for me because of the cat. I indicated that I spoke to Holiday, and to the front desk at that hotel, and all was confirmed. The lady was very rude and told me I should just go "smell the smoking room" they wanted to put me in. She finally agreed to call someone after 15 minutes of pure frustration. Whoever she called agreed to put me in a non-smoking room. Warning to other travelers with pets: Don't trust the fact that you spoke with someone at the front desk if you want a non-smoking pet room. You may be in for a rude awakening like I was.
