Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A Hotel in Rehab. Barely eeks-out 2-star rating. The good: The bed was outstanding and there's a washer & dryer. (Hence the two stars.) The bad: First…Fair warning to other Platinum only get a quick "thank you" for your loyalty. That's it. Expect nothing more. Second: No fridge or microwave. They have loaner fridges but when requested, the last one was inexplicably given out. Funny how the neighboring property has fridges and is one third the rate this HIE charges. But hey, this stay was paid with reward points. Not much of a reward really. Lastly: The room was more than ample size, however I had difficulty dealing with the room’s aroma. It was a combination of cat urine and human sweat. At the point of checking-out, no one was at the counter; I just put the key on the counter and left. What an embarrassing property. If there's a response from the GM, that's great. If not, that's great too. June 26, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dissappointed Many little things were wrong with trip. Unfriendly staff. They changed my room without asking, then took 20 min or so to get it ready. True or not it felt like they were just lazy and didn't want to prepare the room I requested so switched me to room that was ready. Whole room stunk like new carpet and smoke. Went to use pool and it was so dark in there it is hard to see unless the light from the workout room are on. Pool was filthy, cloudy and cold. No towels in the pool area, had to ask for them at front desk, no problem but then was given a towel with a huge , what looked like a oil stain on the towel. It was brown and big. Don't get me started on the breakfast. We moved hotels and upon checking out they never asked how my stay was or why was checking out 2 days earlier than original date. Again, lots of minor things but when you add them up it equals me never staying here again. June 22, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A Bad Breakfast We checked in and had a great nights sleep. When we went to breakfast we were incredibly disappointed. They were out of Cinnamon Rolls, yogurt, cream cheese, butter, bacon, fresh fruit and the pancake maker was broken with an out of order sign on it. When we go on vacation we spend one night at Holiday Inn Express because my family likes the cinnamon rolls and pancakes and then the rest of the nights we stay at another chains hotel and this property has made me want to reconsider that choice. When I went to the front desk to ask why all these items were missing I was told that "there was a problem with the food order and by the time it was fixed it was Friday and they don't deliver on weekends." Well I guess nobody at the hotel can go to the store to buy anything? After we had the "free breakfast we had to stop and pay for breakfast because the breakfast at the hotel was terrible. The staff at this location was very cordial and accommodating to our requests. The overall value of this hotel makes it convenient for us to stay at when we go to visit our family in Connecticut. We thank this location for their hospitality and look forward to staying here on our next visit. June 20, 2015

The hotel was clean, the room was large and spacious and we were very happy with our choice. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay at this hotel. June 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value This is a great place to stay if you're visiting Meriden Connecticut for any reason. The facility is modern and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I visit Meriden often and have stayed at a variety of motels. This is the best one and it's where I'll stay in the future. June 16, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and friendly reception but lacking in so many other ways I would have rated this hotel higher if I were just basing it on cleanliness. However, as a total package I rated it pretty low. My complaints include the fact that half the room was in total darkness. Not because of no lamps but because there were no outlets to plug the lamps in! The desk had a lamp but no where to plug it in. I carry a computer and some peripheral electronics with it that I had to plug in to an outlet near the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, the light/fan combo was so loud I could not stand it. Sounded like the jet was in the bathtub! One of the reasons I like staying at HI Express is the cinnamon rolls at breakfast. I was so disappointed that this HI had NO CINNAMON ROLLS!!!!! Hence, the bad review. June 9, 2015
