Room was nice, slept well but front desk staff was ignorant.

Booked this room on-line for my son who was returning to college after the winter break. He was breaking an eighteen hour drive into two days and the first leg was just over 12 hours. I included information within the on-line reservation that this was for my son (over 21 etc...) and expected that he would only need to use his credit card for incidentals (have done this many times across the IHG family of hotels). When he tried to check in, he was told there was no credit card information on file. He contacted me and I tried to work the issue out with the front desk clerk. She wanted to Fax me some paperwork to sign and fax back to her (who still uses a fax machine?). I asked if she could send it to me as a pdf file and she said no, I asked if I could e-mail her information and again received a response of no . Finally asked to talk to the manager or have the manager call me and she said she would do it. After a few more minutes I was told to scan both sides of my card along with my signature and to email it to the manager. Sorry, not going to happen due to concerns over credit card fraud. Finally, had son put room charge on his debit card (after transferring money into his account). \
Room was good and comfortable, he said. Breakfast was nice and hot and filling. Staff and how they handled centralized billing was dismal.
Oh yeah, I am a Priority Gold Member only a few nights short of Platinum status. So I've been there and done that before.
