Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by New remodel but old still shows The wall area in our bathroom had new wallpaper but you could see it was sinking in by the tub, so it wasn't remodeled well enough to hide the flaws.Avoid going here when a baseball team is here. They pranked our doors until 11 pm while the chaperones sat drinking and chatting. Then there was kids in the pool area without adults ALL under age 14. The beds were HARD as a rock an no comforters just thin blankets. The towels were a plenty and the breakfast was awesome, minus the fact that there was one person to take care of and clean up after the MESSY baseball families and they were messy, guess they don't know how to put away their trash! The desk staff was great, front desk was empty a lot. Very quiet area considering it was next to freeway wouldn't have know it was there. Then when we checked it they assigned us to the wrong room due to my disabilities need. Had to get it changed when I checked in. The lack of handicap parking made it difficult since there were only like 4 by the door and they were all gone. July 20, 2014

The front desk is professional but caring, the breakfast is very well put together and the breakfast attendant is friendly and knowledgeable. The housekeeping staff is amazing and responded promptly to my request for extra conditioner. The guests rooms are modern and spotlessly clean, the pool is clear and the chemicals are so in balance they are barely noticeable (just like they should be). Hats off to both the staff and the manager, you care and it shows. July 18, 2014

I looked forward to breakfast and the gym before visiting family. My late evening/early morning arrivals were greeted by kindness and a sense of security. The closeness to shopping was perfect!! Will stay here again when I visit in the future. July 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff I forgot the lady's name who helped me when I first came in. I think it may have been Carmela, but she was so pleasant. She really made me feel welcome. She is simply wonderful. Then the staff called the room to make sure everything was ok, great touch. I talked to one of the ladies that clean the rooms and she was very nice and pleasant also and said that 'if the staff is happy then the guest will be happy'. I travel for a living and I must say Holiday Inn Grand Rapids is one of the best I have experienced. Thank you very much... July 14, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It is all in Holiday Inn's "lingo" and being a member of their "club." Beautiful hotel, but reservation was totally mishandled and misleading as far as what type of room I requested and was promised. Spent over 20 minutes on the 800 reservation line while they contacted hotel direct assuring that I could get a handicapped room for my elderly parents close to an additional room for my immediately family. (There were 6 of us total.) When checking in (very late in the evening) once again asked if the room was a handicapped room and was assured it was. Arrived at room (3rd floor) and the ONLY handicapped prevision was ONE hand bar to hold onto when stepping over the edge of the tub to get in. Both rooms were IDENTICAL! There was absolutely nothing in the promised "handicapped" room that made it more accessible for my parents. It was late and we were all exhausted so we just lived with it but asked at the front desk the next morning why the rooms were the same, when I was told that I needed to ask for a "roll in" handicapped room if I wanted one that was more accessible. Not sure how Holiday Inn expects me to know their "lingo" for getting what I needed. Also, asked for a couple of extra hours with a late check out and was told no because I was not a member of their "club." I used to travel internationally over 250K miles a year for my job, and still know many people that do, and I can promise you that if I were still traveling frequently, I would NOT stay at Holiday Inn - nor would I recommend them. The most beautiful hotel in the world does not make up for the fact that my elderly parents and I struggled to get them bathed and settled for the night after I specifically asked for the accommodations that I knew we needed - and was lead to believe that was what I was getting - when it fact it was not.... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and the staff was very good. We were only here for one night as a stop off before traveling to Muskegon to ride the Lake Express the next morning. This Hotel is a little off of the main highway but was very easy to get to. Clean comfortable rooms. Lobby and other common areas were neat and clean also. Did not partake in the breakfast but it appeared to be the same as most Hotel breakfast, not all that great but OK. June 29, 2014
