Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too Many Bad points We stayed in this hotel for one night in April on a park and stay deal. First the good points: The hotel is in a great location just off the M56 with the airport terminals within easy reach, there is ample parking and the rooms are very clean. Bad points: The rooms do not have air conditioning and can be very hot, they do supply a fan but all this does is circulate warm air, you cannot leave the window open due to 24 hour traffic noise. We ate our evening meal in the hotel restaurant but the food was very poor and very greasy I would definitely recommend eating elsewhere. Although the hotel operates a no smoking policy all the smokers congregate outside the main entrance door so every time the doors open smoke drifts into the hotel bar and foyer area for that reason we did not use the main bar or sit in the foyer area, the hotel should insist that patrons use another area to smoke away from the main entrance. In summary a nice hotel spoilt by the above issues. May 19, 2016

My only gripes are restaurants (Chefs!!) that close absolutely on the dot - for the convenience of the staff - not the guest. Oh and Bacon! English breakfast without it? Really? Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by one night after long haul flight I used my IHG points for a free stay as I knew my flight would be arriving late (as it happened flight was delayed and arrived after midnight). Very pleasantly surprised by room - all usual facilities including a settee, desk area, free wifi, satellite TV, drinks making facilities, king size bed. Breakfast included, limited, but sufficient, available until 10 a.m. No fridge in room or iron/ ironing board or air-conditioning but these were not necessary for my stay. I needed toothpaste and this was easily remedied with a smile. Easy to arrange airport shuttle the next morning only £3.00. Taxi from airport to hotel is necessary and private hire taxi only cost £6.00. Very impressed as I did expect a lot less as it was an 'Express' hotel. May 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely use for early flights I only live 15 miles from the airport but this was ideal for the stay due to having a young child and a 6:50am flight time. The bar area, whilst small is comfortable and there were enough bar staff so we didn't have to wait for drinks. We didn't use the restaurant as we used the Romper pub a short walk/drive away - it's safer to drive if you have kids. Again, breakfast was available for early starters May 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel The hotel bedrooms were really comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful especially John in the restaurant. The dinner menu however is not great with regards choice and quantity, however the food is nice. Breakfast is very limited with regards hot food but also what we got was nice, (great sausages!!) We stayed as part of a tour so I am unaware of the cost to stay in the hotel. Overall it is a very pleasant hotel with comfortable rooms and really lovely, friendly, attentitive staff and would stay at this hotel again. May 5, 2016

We booked to stay at the Holiday Inn Express at Manchester Airport as we were landing at 11pm and didn't want the hassle of travelling into the city at that time of night. While the hotel does provide a shuttle service between the airport and the hotel, there is unfortunately no service in the early afternoon and after 11pm, which meant a rather costly taxi ride. The combined reception/bar/lounge area was very busy when we arrived, but we were checked in very quickly and were able to enjoy a couple of drinks before going to bed. However, we were slightly intimidated by a very loud group of young men, drinking and smoking (and possibly under the influence of drugs) by the main entrance, which wasn't really controlled by the staff. The room itself was clean and comfortable, although the window was very draughty, which meant having to turn the heating up as far as possible in order to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom was also clean and had a large shower cubicle. There was a problem with the bathroom light switch, which should have been spotted and mended by the staff sooner, and the TV was broken. Breakfast was included in the price, which is rare enough, but we were rather disappointed by the selection (as were our fellow German guests, who complained that the off-white scrambled eggs looked more like mashed potatoes!). I was looking forward to a full English breakfast, but all that was on offer in terms of a cooked breakfast was the anaemic scrambled eggs, sausages and baked beans. As I now live abroad, I was very much looking forward to a full English breakfast! The lack of bacon and mushrooms was very disappointing! Otherwise, everything was as we had expected: the staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the common areas were (mostly) well-kept. The bar was on the pricey side (almost £20 for a bottle of white wine), but again this is expected in a hotel. Generally, quite an average stay, the quality of which could have been easily improved with just a slightly closer attention to detail and a bigger breakfast menu. May 3, 2016
