Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Quay Smells like wet cat
I stayed here for four nights attending a conference. The first room they put me in smelled horrible--like a wet cat! The second one smelled like a little wet cat. I was traveling all day and was already too exhausted to ask for another room. If my wife were with me, we definitely would have gotten another room. The room was tidy and nicely appointed, but I always felt like it was somehow dirty because of the smell. The hallways need updating.
The air conditioner had a horrible noise on medium, but squeeked on high. There was a fridge, microwave, TV, iron and coffee maker.
The catered food for the conference was very good. The meeting room was comfortable. I had some laundry done which came out very nice. It's located close to public transportation and many places to eat within walking distance. But, I didn't always feel comfortable walking at night (and I'm 6'2" 200#).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mar3 good location, but in need of upgrade
I was there for a convention and the location is conveniently within walking distance of the event. Unfortunately, the hotel is only a fair value for money. Check-in was fast and the room was OK and clean, but in need of renovation. Not all outlets worked (either fridge or coffee machine could be connected - the coffee machine won), the sink was clogging up and the balcony door could not be locked. The bed was comfy, but the décor is rather dark and generally outdated. Breakfast was good and the service was attentive and friendly. We were assigned a room on the lowest (10th) floor facing Elm Street, where an event with music from speakers was going on. My request for a room on a higher floor was denied although I made reservations months in advance. "Other guests have also made their reservations months in advance" was the only remark by the front desk. All in all, a disappointing experience for the price paid.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TravellinFool Crowne Plaza? IHG Standards? I dont think so!!
I could not believe this was an IHG property! First of all I was not recognized as a Platinum Elite member... when I inquired on an upgrade I was given an upgrade to a suite (still no recognition of my elite status). I went to my room and instead of a suite I was given a room with a king bed and a double. I called the front desk and I was told it was the computers error, given another room which wasn't a suite b/c the suite was no longer available but the room I was given was dirty. I was then given another room which faces the pool with a balcony, balcony didn't lock called to get it fixed and nothing was done about it, room had a weird musty odor and the a/c blew warm air. Needless to say I was tired of switching so I just stayed in the room b/c I was only here for a night. Elevators are useless when the night club is open, security allows the patron's of the night club to use the elevators before the guest! Left a message for the general manager to contact me but he never did, just shows how much this hotel cares about quality, customer service and comfort all of which are very important in the hospitality business!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DrNick Need to focus on respect for sleep
I recently stayed at the Crown Plaza Dallas Downtown for a convention. The check-in process was very efficient with them already having my room assignment and forms prepared. I was not happy with the room being near the elevator and I was quickly re-assigned to another room. The room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is on my last night, there was a repetitive sound that woke me up in the middle of the night which I am not sure what it was. Also, I tried to sleep in a little and was awaken by the maid at 9:20am by her knocking repetitively to see if I was still in the room or checked out. During checkout, I provided my IHG membership number for it to be added to my account and I see now online that it was never done.
Overall a decent stay but they still have things to work on.

Belhop Joe is very knowledgeable of the surrondings, He made the night for us. The bed was very cofortable and the upgrade to balcony room was a nice. Only because I asked for a special view room and that came with a double bed which we where not happy with ( Management made it right on the spot.)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Phoenix39 It was alright
My husband and I stayed here just for a night away from home. The lobby was very nice (I think someone else mentioned this) but the room was average. We asked for a King and to their credit there WAS a king bed in the room. There was also a double and we apparently got a handicap accessible room. It was clean and not awful by any stretch but I think I would have liked a room with a nicer bathroom and no other bed which I realize is a strange thing to bother me.
The next thing is not the "fault" of the hotel but it is something you want to keep in mind if you have very good hearing as I do. In a nearby park is a weird megaphone piece of "art." It makes some kind of mumbling sound and I could just barely hear it all night long, like someone whispering nearby, it was a little annoying.

If you're in Dallas for business for a few days, this hotel will suit you. Checked in late with a grumpy Tony (overnight Staff) who gave us a room that was clearly being used by another guest! (Beds unmade, lights on in the room/bathroom.) While Tony did immediately change our room, he failed to take responsibility for this, but blamed it on the computer (the computer shows the room is ready.) Walter is the concierge/shuttle driver/bellman combo. He was very helpful and friends as was his staff - Joe and Vincent. There's a restaurant and bar on site. Although the bar was only open if there were customers. Did not eat in the restaurant. There was a nightclub on site - Thrive that was never opened. Location is close enough to various tourist attractions.

The shuttle service is great. The dirvers Charles and Joe were outstanding. They were friendly, helpful and made us feel valued and well taken care of.
