Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fall foliage and Parent's Weekend How can one not enjoy the Boston area in mid-October? We did and we almost always enjoy our stay at the Bunker Hill HI. The staff may not be Texas-friendly, but they're certainly competent and efficient. The property is safe, secure, and well-lit with plenty of parking in a parking-limited area. The rooms, while not overly spacious, have all the accoutrements that one would expect at an updated HI property. This particular visit was delayed a day due to a cancelled flight. The staff worked with us and made the appropriate adjustments to our schedule and even got us in our room early. Now, I would never make a decision on where to stay based on their in-house food offerings, but I can say that the pizza from the restaurant downstairs is amazing! We come to the area at least three times annually and we always stay at the Bunker Hill HI. We'll see you again in the spring! October 28, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not good enough Had some expectations, but unfortunately, the hotel didn't meet any of them. Front desk staff were fine, but the night shift is simply horrible. The toilet got clogged during the night, and immediately started flooding the room (great pipework, by the way). I ran to reception and asked for help - I was told by the very rude night shift attendant the there is no one at the hotel to help, but he'll try and call security. The security guy came after 20 minutes (during which we were fighting with the toilet - huge fun), and said this is not part of his job, but he'll "do us a favor". Gee, thanks. We waited for another 10 minutes till he brought some equipment, and solved the problem. I must mention that I complained in the morning to the front desk manager, and got 50% off that night - but that still doesn't make up for a completely sleepless night. They have to improve their night service, it was horrible. Room - although renovated, not maintained well. The bath faucet broke apart when I first tried to use it, and I had to bring it back together while having some ice cold water raining down from the shower head. Fun, again. Cleaning service was horrible - not wnough towels, never got soaps/shampoo replenished. Nothing. Also, I was told that the windows were sealed - but the window was poorly sealed, so wind came in and road noise was very much evident (asked for a quiet room before checking in, got a room facing the noisey road). Breakfast not good as well - bacon inedible, scrambled eggs quite disgusting, bread not fresh, panckae machine never seemed to work - you get the picture. Shuttle service - although a great idea, poorly executed. The driver was always late - he was 20 minutes late to pick us up from the city on our last day (really a 15 minute drive during these hours, so I can't imagine it took his 35). If you can't make it work on tine, don't offer a shuttle service. Simply not good enough. October 23, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor breakfast I was part of a tour group which was shunted into a side room for breakfast. Service was poor. Choice was quite inadequate eg one day the hot choice at breakfast was a beefburger (but with no onions or bun - just the beef) a pancake and fried potato wedges. Cereal bowls were not provided - paper soup bowls had to be used. I have stayed in Holiday Inns in various parts of the world and the breakfast here was by far the worst that I have ever experienced. If the hotel cannot cope with a tour party of 39 in its restaurant it should not accept such bookings. My first experience of a hotel in the USA was not a good one. October 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice new hotel The room was huge with a 60" tv. The "high speed internet" was like most hotels and averaged around 1MB down and .5MB up but the hand off between access points was horrendous. If i moved 10 feet down the hall i needed to sign in again after it reconnected. That was probably the worst part about the stay. Joe the bartender was very friendly. I had the opportunity to stay almost a month and had everything on the menu, i was not disappointed once. October 20, 2014
