Staff were most of the time helpful, except when guests wanted to congregate after the event they tried move guests out of rooms to lounge to then say not allowed there either. Overall no problems! We had sudden early Saturday appointment at a hospital in Stanmore, so rather than travel up a few hours before, we opted to stay locally to the hospital. The Holiday Inn at Elstree fitted the bill & was reasonably priced too. Booking through the IHG website was easy & convenient, as well as ensuring that we would gain Reward points. Finding the hotel was easy and the various entrances well signposted. Reception was in the modern building & was open, well lit & friendly & we received a warm welcome. We were quickly booked in & issued with a room cardkey, also being asked if we needed more than one. The bar was pointed out to us and it's open times as well as other facilities at the hotel. Our room was in the older building and was clean, warm, comfortable & reasonably well furnished. There was a good sized TV & the tea/coffee making facilities hidden away in a drawer unit under the TV. The bed was very comfortable and there were two sorts of pillow person. The bathroom was clean & bright with a good shower over the bath, hairdryer & complimentary soaps & shampoos. I was surprised to see old steel pipes feeding the radiator, showing the age of the building, but at least they weren't leaking. The bar was large & open, with a TV available for those who can't talk or can leave their phone alone. Seating was comfortable & well spaced across from the bar. The bar was well stocked with various beers & lagers, wines, spirits, soft drinks & snacks. We found it to be a nice place to relax after the journey before going to bed. Service was quick & efficient. All in all we found it to be a good standard Holiday Inn and will use it again, should the need arise again. August 16, 2015

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mediocre stay in a handy location The hotel is tired and in need of an upgrade, in particular the bathrooms, bedrooms, fitness centre and air con system. The impression I got was that the staff on the whole did not want to be there. An okay budget place to stay if you don't need the air con. August 13, 2015

Hotel appeared very well looked after and everywhere was clean, reasonably fresh looking and well lit. Bar/lounge and restaurant (breakfast) staff were attentive, chatty and smiling, which again made us feel welcome. August 12, 2015
