Hotel Indigo Rome - St. George

Hotel Indigo Rome - St. George

Community of creators.

The Hotel Indigo® Rome St. George hotel is located on Via Giulia in the historic center of Rome amidst galleries, boutiques and workshops. Our hotel perfectly blends modern comforts with hints of our neighborhood’s history, like original travertine marble walls and murals celebrating the area’s long history of artistic expression. At I Sofà, our restaurant and warm-weather rooftop bar, chef Marco Petroni handpicks seasonal ingredients, crafting farm-to-fork Roman recipes. Relax in a Roman bath at our wellness center. Our outdoor event space suits 200, and we’re a short walk to the Pantheon, Vatican City, Sant’Angelo Castle, Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese and the Spanish Steps.

      Neighborhoods

      Explore our neighborhood.

Here, surrounded by style, history, prestige and well-preserved historic mansions, is downtown Chicago’s Gold Coast—a retreat from the busier sides of the city. A neighborhood where narrow stone paths open up to striking, urban gardens. Long the home of working architects, actors, writers, musicians and artists (like neo-impressionist Bill Olendorf), it’s the kind of place that inspires us to take pause and see the beauty in a picture-perfect patio or a single brushstroke. And in the iconic city skyline symbolizing the gold standard of a neighborhood that never lost its luster.

      Fori Imperiali

This area has recently become a pedestrian area with access only to public transport: the first step towards the creation of an archeological park. Take a walk through the magical ruins of the eternal city and let your imagination bring back to life the ancient streets of Rome.

      Fori Imperiali
      St. Angelo’s Castle

History lovers shouldn’t miss nearby St. Angelo’s Castle. Cross the Angels’ Bridge and visit the castle recognizable by its unique round shape and the “passetto,” the elevated passage that links the Vatican City with the castle. It’s an approximately 800 m-long corridor which has served as an escape route for popes in danger during Rome’s many wars.

      St. Angelo’s Castle
      Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel

With marvelous frescos from Michelangelo, these historic attractions are a must. Book the fast-track tickets in advance and avoid the long queues, which often crowd the area. A night out in Trastevere is definitively something not to be missed: restaurants and bars full of locals enjoying the lovely temperatures of Rome.

      Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel
      Via dei Coronari

For an out-of-the-ordinary shopping experience that differs from the usual suspects, take a walk for an endless line of small boutiques displaying the latest trends in fashion, or, on Via dei Banchi Vecchi, discover the timeless charm of antique shops and craft shops.

      Via dei Coronari
      Auditorium Parco della Musica

Built by the famous architect Renzo Piano, the Auditorium Parco della Musica is a multifunctional complex designed for events and exhibitions of high artistic and cultural content. It features three concert halls, an exhibition space hosting temporary shows, and an open-air theater for up to 3000 people.

      Auditorium Parco della Musica
      Fonclea

This historic pub located in Via Crescenzio has seen over 30 years of activity. Every evening, starting from 9:30 pm, guests can enjoy live music with a selection of Italian and international artists covering various music genres: rock, jazz, blues, gospel, swing and pop.

      Notti D’estate a Castel Sant’Angelo

During the warm summer nights (usually from July to September), Castel Sant'Angelo opens its doors to visitors with a rich calendar of events and concerts of classic, opera and jazz music. Furthermore, it offers special guided tours of areas where access is usually denied during the day, such as "the Passetto del Borgo" and "the Historical Prisons."

      Notti D’estate a Castel Sant’Angelo
      Big Mama

Located in the picturesque district of Trastevere, the Big Mama is known as “the home of the blues in Rome.” With nearly 30 years of good music, Big Mama is still a point of reference for blues lovers. Guests can enjoy drinks and food while listening to live music. Access is free, but if you wish to book a table, you should subscribe to the Big Mama membership card.

      Pierluigi

Family-run Pierluigi is one of our area’s most renowned restaurants, serving traditional, yet ceaselessly inventive dishes using the highest-quality ingredients.

      Pierluigi
      Campo de’ Fiori

We recommend taking a walk to Campo de’ Fiori or Piazza Farnese to stop in one of the many traditional restaurants for an authentic Carbonara. During the daytime, the square houses an open air market where you can buy anything from fresh fruit to artisanal products. Stop at the Forno Campo de’ Fiori for a lovely slice of plain Roman focaccia, locally known as “pizza Bianca.” At night, the square is a great spot for local food and drinks.

      • Excellent Hotel, conveniently located by the Vatican, Piazza Navona and Castle St. Angelo. Staff were very helpful and professional. Would recommend to anyone to stay here.

      • I booked the Hotel based on the reviews and the hotel fully delivered on all aspects. Staff was very competent and extremely service minded. they took care of Restaurant bookings / recommendations. handled the limo service to airport. There was one post in the hotel recommendation that stated that the area was a little suspect. but it was absolutely not true. Pure Italian style small streets with shops and restaurants and local buzz. Distance to places that you must see in Rome are within walking distance. We were there when the Rome Marathon was executed and all the surroundings was blocked by police to insure that safety of the runners. This was on the day that we were leaving. Hotel informed us that Limo-service to the airport could not enter the streets of the Hotels. So the Hotel staff simply got one of the Bellboys to carry the luggage 1 KM to a place where the Limo service was waiting ! That's service ! I will recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Rome.

      • Indigo is a stylish place in a great location on the atmospheric Via Giulia, but what makes it stand out is the great service delivered by all the members of staff. They were both friendly and knowledgeable, for example recommending great venues for dinner. The room was fresh and modern with references to its classical location. Good internet connection speeds were easy to access in the room and anywhere in the hotel for both researching places to go and keeping on top of business. I'd definitely stay here again when I next visit Rome. Well done everyone.
