Creepy crawlies

I have stayed here many times, but this one will most likely be my last at this location.

The refrigerator had not been completely cleaned out. There was a container in the refrigerator that had food in it that looked quite old. I did not open it to find out.

There were bugs everywhere. I woke up and there were about 10 on my bed. I did report to desk clerk when checking out. She showed me a picture of what it might be and it was correct for what was in my room. I got a nonchalant response of "oh, they are river bugs and we are having an infestation." I relayed that I did not think they needed to be in my room and that who knows what was crawling through my hair in the night. She did not seem to care. She shrugged her shoulders and said "Sorry" and went back to her computer. No offer of reimbursement or any other compensation.

I couldn't get out of there fast enough!

Nonexistent housekeeping but spacious room

The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. I love having the kitchen area and the space the rooms offer. They offer a discount for Applebees that’s nearby and free pickleball at a location a little further away. The laundry and fitness area are nice little spots. I stay at this location frequently at least 1 week a year and sometimes more than that through the year for the past few years. I have never had an issue until this stay. My stays are usually fine, housekeeping isn’t needed I bring my own extra towels and everything goes good. This stay however my daughter got sick at around 3am and unfortunately woke up and immediately threw up on some of her bed and the floor. I attempted calling for cleaning supplies so I could clean it up with no answer. I then had to go to the lobby and ring the bell and wait for some time, while I could hear an employee back behind the counter without any sort of communication from them. When she came to the front acted surprised someone was there even though I just rang the bell again. I explained what happened, apologized, and told her I just wanted to clean the mess up and that nobody else should have to do that and asked what she could give me to clean it up with. She gave me paper towels, stain spray, large trash bag for bedding. She also took note of my room number and said she would have housekeeping come up and vacuum and make sure she gave me the right cleaning supplies as she was unsure of what they would use. Housekeeping never came. I called to let them know and was told it wasn’t time for my stay to have housekeeping even though I explained the situation. I was then told housekeeping only comes there once a week. When I asked what day she told me Monday and when I pointed out it was Monday she became even ruder. She said she’d make a note for them to come the next day. The bag with the bedding was placed in the area outside the elevator and sat there until Tuesday night. Housekeeping didn’t come the next day either. I had to ask to use the vacuum they reluctantly let me borrow it. Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t expecting anyone to clean her throw up mess I just wanted to make sure I was given the proper supplies and get the smell out of the room and I cleaned everything the absolute best I could with what I was given. I also forgot to bring extra towels this trip when I went down to ask for some it was like it was an inconvenience for her to give me towels. Another night I needed more bags for the trash I stood at the front desk with an employee just behind the partial wall ignoring me ringing the bell multiple times and had to finally call the hotel from my cell phone for her to get up and come to the counter. She also acted like getting me trash bags was an unreasonable hassle for her. Overall there were only 2 people I had contact with at this location that were friendly and didn’t outright seem to hate their job. If you don’t need to have contact with the staff other than checking in then this stay is great.

The location is right by the onramp. The hotel is also quiet and peaceful. All rooms were clean, to include sheets. There was also sufficient number of towels/soaps stocked in the bathroom and dishes in the kitchen area.

Not Clean

I stay at IHG hotels all the time. I have not stayed at Candlewood very often. After this experience I would avoid this brand and still with Holiday Express. When you live on the road consistent place to stay, and sleep is very important. There needed to be a quality check when a room is done.

Poor management

A mistake was made on my bill my company card was charged for a day that I didn’t stay at the hotel when I tried to get the mistake straightened out the manager Rohan Shah refused to correct the error and saying I changed my room reservation which was completely false so immediately informed the credit card company of the false charge. When the credit company called and refused the charge he gave them another false story. I then called Beth Horvath and she immediately took care of the problem like the manager should have, Beth should be recognized for her professional work and always being concerned with guests comfort and satisfaction in my opinion she should be manager.The current manager obviously doesn’t care or doesn’t know his job

Room occupied

My family arrived late in the evening, we drive late hoping to keep our kids asleep (newborn at the time and 1.5 year old). When I used the key card to enter the room assigned to us, I quickly heard a man’s voice saying hello. The room was occupied by another family, which we unknowingly barged in on due to being assigned the wrong room. When I went back to the service desk with my newborn in tow who was now screaming, the person at the desk didn’t apologize or come anywhere close to being remorseful of this mistake.

Clean and friendly staff

Great hotel especially for the price. Clean and great staff. Decent size room and had a good supply of dishes and things for the kitchen. Doesn't offer breakfast but walmart and Aldi less than 5 minutes away. The bed wasn't very comfy unless you like extra firm mattress but I would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful very clean, well kept room. Neat and clean lobby. Kind staff. Beth, who was behind the desk, checked us in. Beth was very personable and kind. Beth was helpful and a good listener. The room was for our Guest speaker and he is very pleased with the rooms each time he comes to preach for us. Our Guest has had back surgery and tells me that your beds are the most comfortable for his back. Thank you for making our Guest Preacher's stay comfortable and wonderful. Much appreciate your staff.

Rooms aren’t the cleanest. Can hear everything people are doing in rooms surrounding. Room smells had to spray odor eliminator daily to get rid of smell.
