Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Upgrades? I booked online using their website and found a good rate for a Sunday evening. I was a little confused to be prompted then to avail myself of various 'upgrades' including the chance to check in before 15.00 (?), have a quiet room at the back or postpone check-out, all for a fee, of course. The last option I could recognise as I stay in a good number of hotels e.g. Novotels in London but I think they are 'milking it' a bit with the others, many of which have 14.00 check-ins.. Gone are the discretionary requests it seems. I arrived early by train and despite wandering the streets for several hours my enquiry about the possibility of checking in at 14.00 was met with a stony 'check-in is at 3'. Rooms are basic, expected for this chain, but clean, breakfast included and fine, especially avoiding the Sunday morning 'scrum' experience as it was a Sunday evening stay. Quiet room that I paid extra for was let down by the noisy air conditioning unit. This seemed to be set on one fan setting only as attempted changes made no difference. I eventually had to switch it off to get any peace. This was alright with Spring temperatures but not sure how this would work in the middle of summer or winter and no, I was not going to start the rigmarole of changing rooms in the middle of the (one) night or risk being told they would get an engineer straight onto it in the morning . Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Riverside April hotel location great for centre of Glasgow and walking distances to train stations. Breakfast fine if hotel not full the first morning it was like a cattle market not enough tables and staff couldn't cope with getting food out fast enough. The family room 2nd bed was most uncomfortable thin lumpy mattress. Fine for a base to explore the city 13 April 2015

The sofa bed was prepared for our family stay which hasn't been the case during some other Holiday Inn stays in previous years. There was microwave, cutlery 11 April 2015
