The receptionist was friendly and when we mentioned that we wanted to walk, she suggested the nearby state park which was great (although there is an entrance fee). The room had a comfortable bed, soft sheets and towels, a nice size tv with many channels, and a Keurig coffee maker. However, there were opened bars of soap on the vanity and in the shower, which was a turn-off. Breakfast was pretty good, with 3 kinds of whole fruit and cartons of soy milk (why don't they all have this?), however there was no cooked oatmeal or herbal tea. The price seemed a little high. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel Stayed nights of April 22 and 23. Been going down to Auburn the last 5 years while my daughter was at Auburn University. The staff, rooms, and property are awesome, always feel at home when I'm in Auburn Holiday inn express. You always can tell when a hotel is properly managed by how friendly the staff is. The manager (Stormie) always goes out of her way to help her guest, as directions or restaurants to eat at or just a big smile. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast I was extremely disappointed when I went to breakfast at 8:30 and several items I had seen at 7:30 had been put away by the staff. I went down at 7:30 to see what was for breakfast so i could decide if I needed to stay in or go somewhere. I returned at 8:30 and was disappointed that some of the items such as muffins, salsa for eggs, cinnamon rolls, and nuts and such that went in the oatmeal had been taken to the back by the staff. Since I had seen the items earlier I knew they were available and was looking forward to oatmeal and a muffin. I asked the staff if they still had them and she brought out the full tray. My mother was still up stairs so i called her and told her to hurry up down before it was all put away. The staff still continued to take smaller items like bananas to the back, so I asked the staff if breakfast was over at 9 or 9:30. She said 9:30, I wanted to ask at that time why she was putting stuff away. Does the staff get to keep the left overs??? If so that sure is one way to get to take more home. Also 6 other guest came down to eat about 9:00. I understand starting to put things away 15 minutes early but an hour. April 24, 2016
